Dude, I have watched this video like 10 times, no lie! (And I love all of your videos.) Your face and laugh says it all when you're shifting too! I get it -- I've had several VWs and Audis and I know the exact feeling! I think I might have to take VW up on their offer to buy back my TDI -- and will replace it with one of these. Thank you for your video and helping me explore this understated gem!

I put the Neuspeed power module on my 2016 GTI SE DCC, light pkg, and performance pkg, noticeable increase in pull, it was quick before, now it's in the realm of FAST! Increase in Torque and HP, response is quicker too $399 plug in it's well worth it..two OEM connectors, and done, no change in program of cpu, it is also removable, by unplugging...great stuff

you get the performace package in all but the S trim for 2017 as standard. the bump in horsepower is worthless, an APR stage 2 ecu tune will get you over 300 at the wheels. the gti puts around 230 at the wheels stock, vw is sandbagging their numbers with the mk7.
bump in hp is worthless but the limited slip and bigger brakes makes it a good deal
Big FING Box lmao unless your drag racing from a dig then it's actually usefull, these cars stage too even with no lsd are monsters 40mph +

Was one of the first to buy a 2015 GTI Autobahn DSG. Don't have it any more ever since I moved overseas. Looks like not much has changed...

I definitely favor having more room as I have to carry around bulky music equipment quite often.

Why do some golf gti’s have a front bumper like this and some are a little different i cant find what the difference in the 2 versions

If I get this, I'd get a base Manual. I think loading it up is kinda stupid because once you get over 34000 you might as well get a CPO Golf R

Would have been nice to know which trim level you had? Noticed the leather seats so assuming Autobahn package but would have been nice to mention.

by the looks of it no, the sport trim is new it i have the 2016 and it was just s, se, and autobahn and then you add on the performance pack if wanted

You've driven the the past 2 years GTI (forget the fact that the 2016 was auto and the 2017 is manual). What are the differences in the cabin (seats), nav system, tech, engineering? Engine sounds like the exact same as 2016. Thanks!

I love this car but I hate the shift knob
hmmm...some inaccuracies...the SE has the 220 hp motor...the manual MPG is 34 highway, not 32 which is the MPG for the double clutch...the upgraded headlights are on the SE are the upgraded ones as well. In addition to the suspension changes, the sport driving mode also changes the exhaust note (and on the double clutch, transmission shift points). The plaid seats are ONLY on the S and Sport...the leather is ONLY on the SE and Autobahn
the only thing I am worried about is what will happen to VW....I was thinking of one here in Mexico but... I am having my doubts.

In Mexico, it IS the Volkswagon LOCO! Funny given the car is built in Mexico. :D

DogDaybreak it's not that fast stock. Think 0-60 time of early to mid 6 seconds. If you get a tune however, that's where the speeds at.

I drove a 2014 GTI Manuel and my 2007 Civic Si was Much more Fun and felt Quicker ! And Reliability. I almost bought a 2009 BMW 1-M Pkg.. Ended up buying a Loaded 2010 Camaro 2SS/RS Manuel...
I test drove this car a 2016 GTI manual shift and I loved it !!! BUT everyone is telling me including my mechanic not to get a VW because they burn oil right from the get go , they are not as reliable as a Honda or Toyota (see customer reports) and they are real expensive to fix . I have a 16 1/2 year old Honda civic SI that I am still driving . I have tried the civic turbo which was nice and I like the hatchback but it is so ugly to me compared to this GTI . I might just pull the trigger and get the GTI I love driving it , the way it looks and the hatchback configuration . Any opinion about my comment? Thanks
Nearly every car is less reliable than a Honda or Toyota, but VW has a somewhat overblown reputation for expensive repairs. The "german car" effect really only kicks in when you get to Audi, BMW, Mercedes, or Porsche. VWs are common enough that you can finds parts more easily.
in the last issue of moter trend they completes the 40k test and everyone said it was a great car ! I just love it and think the new civic hatch looks like a Pontiac Aztec LOL
that's *nonsense!* Why are Japanese brands unable to compete in the German market? Simple: while they are cheaper to begin with, their parts are outrageously priced ... so the savvy German consumer will almost always opt for a German make .... as for burning oil... that's another piece of disinformation! These are not Korean engineers who build these cars! :)
I had a gti and did none of what u were told. My family has and friends have owned many. GT is and no issue other then absolute pleasure with fun driving

A dealership in Palmdale, CA has the GTI Autobahn with a sticker price of $37K. No thanks. I'm going to price the car in LA. If you were able to find it for 34K, it's a much better deal.

mohamd Luc Currently shopping the same two cars. The ST is a much more raw, unrefined car. The GTI is generally going to be a better all around car, much more refined. The quality is on Audi level, and with very little money on an ECU tune you can pull around 50-75hp more out of it for cheap.

mohamd Luc Depends on what you're using it for, GTI is going to be the better all around daily driver. Quieter cabin, better ride quality and a much nicer interior, DSG is an option as well. I'd test drive both and see which suits your needs better. 😁

I was either going to get this or the ST and I went with the ST. It's honestly personal preference test drive both and you'll know which ones for you.
