I just found your music by accident. I was looking up the origins of my last name, Beasley' new, and I play the keyboard all my life , by ear, never learned how to read music. We always had a piano or keyboard in the house. My daughters all played the clarinet in school. I had a guitar but my daughter took it with her when she went to college. Music, jazzy soulful music like yours is in my blood.
I love the "Cauldron" album with John Patitucci and Dean Parks and all the other great players. John mentioning the DX7 pushing the Rhodes aside reminds me of how disappointed I was when I bought Al Jarreau´s album High Crime (or maybe it was "L is for Lover). Suddenly all the great Rhodes sounds from the previous records and especially "Jarreau" were gone and replaced by those horrible DX7 sounds. I really hated it.
Gigging with Sergio Mendez in the 80s? I gotta ask, who played the Robbie Buchanan part during “Never Gonna Let You Go”? Love to have had an opportunity to meet Harold Rhodes the way John described here.

I had the pleasure of seeing Mr. Beasley playing with the John Patitucci Band in the mid 90’s. Super nice guy.

guitarelaxed Cauldron and Change of Heart are legendary! It’s a shame that you don’t hear a lot about his work as a leader.
