    I’m brand new at the saxophone and I realize that I was biting on the read thank you big difference. I knew it had to be my fault somehow being that I’m this new. As I get to a point where I can learn basics I’ll be looking for an online lesson to improve.

    i just started playing sax again after a long break. playing the beginner mouthpiece i don't get any squeaks, then i upgraded to a bettersax mp and i'm getting a bit of squeak, i'm assuming it's pilot error

    Very clear video. Beautiful Selmer Alto sax you have there. Does the black lacquer stay on well?

      Hi. The lacquer has come off the hook ring. It is coming off the neck where I push the mouthpiece on. The gold is beginning to show through the lacquer on the bell a little. I think in another 5 years it will look a mess. I won't buy another black lacquered sax again. The salesman talked me into it. Thanks for the comment.

      @@Saxcomprehensive Sorry to hear that, but I can understand your initial choice, it's probably a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to buy an instrument like that.

    what saxophone do you use?

    • @Saxcomprehensive
      @Saxcomprehensive  Год назад

      My alto saxophone is a Selmer SA80 mark 2. When I started learning to play the saxophone I bought a cheap student saxophone but then after about 6 months I upgraded to this one. It was recommended to me by the sales person since at the time I did not know anything about saxophones. One of the main differences is how it feels when using it since designs are different and some saxophones may feel awkward to play. Always best to try them out for how sturdy they are, how they feel and how they sound. Thanks

    I have found out too much saliva build up on the back side of the reed will make you squeak. I have found out by clearing or just replacing with a drier reed will do the trick..

    Hey I really need help with my mouth when playing saxaphone. When I curl my lip over my teeth to prevent squeeks it limits my sound however when my lip is more relaxed my sound is better but does squeek especially when I go from a high octive note to a low octive Is their a leak in my saxaphone or is my ambature wrong

      Hi. There are so many reasons why you might be squeaking that it is impossible to give an accurate solution. A common cause is biting or applying too much pressure on the mouthpiece. Maybe get a tuner and just play the mouthpiece and reed alone. Try to produce a A for alto, G for tenor, C for soprano. The pressure you use to produce those notes use the same pressure when attached to the saxophone. Maybe try a different strength reed. Softer reeds are better for low notes and you will not bite so much as if you had a harder reed. If possible try a different mouthpiece. Make sure the reed is aligned correctly and good quality. You really need someone to look at what you are doing such as a teacher or just go through a list of possible causes one by one. A saxophone leak is probably less likely unless the problems started suddenly.
