- This Bullfrog video features the low and resonant "rum, rum, jug-o-rum" calls of the maloe, along with aggressive "spits" given when other males venture too close. I gathered the footage on June 3, 2010 at a pond in the Finger Lakes National Forest near Ithaca, New York. Enjoy!

I had pet bullfrogs and I kept them just for that purpose--I LOVE the sounds of them!!! A pond full of them is absolute heaven and they put me to sleep. They also like dog food!
I grew up near a pond and guys like these would serenade me to sleep all through the summer. I miss this so much !!!

I’ve grew up listening to this sound and still do to this day if you live close to nature you’re truly blessed
I think this might be what I hear at night in N Carolina. Somewhat of a creepy sound. Because even with a spot light I still can't see them in the puddles of water

I forgot to say, this is so very nostalgic. The frog pond of childhood, alive with bullfrogs, beautiful leopard frogs, spring peepers, etc. was thousands of miles away and it was since drained :(
same thing happened where I lived in New Jersey, we had a corrupt mayor and he allowed developers to fill in a "protected waterway". Now there are 20 big homes in the area. This will happen everywhere in America.
Well I still have a pond yet I’m sure it won’t be drained any time soon but I know how it feels to just hear the bullfrogs and see them at night it sucks that that happened.
My dad used to live near a pond, if I remember correctly lake lindsy, in central florida.
He loved the sound of the peepers, leopard frogs and such calling as he went fishing in the late afternoon and night.

We have a small lake across the road from my house, and this is a very common sound. Love the frog and cricket sounds of Alabama, especially on summer nights 😁
When I was a kid I always heard this because we lived in the rice farm and if there's a rain. So peaceful 💖 how I missed it.
I feel jealous. They're the most happiest animals after a storm passes. Everyone in my place are scrambling and cleaning after it gets flooded but they're the ones rejoicing above all!
I heard this sound near a pond I visited and it freaked me out. Nice to know it was just these guys lol.

That's why I had a pond outside with pet bullfrogs. They would put me to sleep at night . I also noticed they would eat dog food. I think they started because the dog food would attract flies and they would eat the flies and then started on the dog food.

When I was a kid, my Nana and Papa owned a camp that was right by the water and this is what we heard. All. Night. Long. It was actually really soothing.
The tenor- or higher-pitched "gunk gunk gunk" in the background are the greenfrogs, and the bass pitched "rububububububububum" up close are the bullfrogs. The bass-pitched "doonk" at the end are another sound the bullfrogs make. The soprano-pitched trills are grey treefrogs. Awesome sound capturing you got there!
And a bullfrog is caught by coyote along with a grey treefrogs

My two year old loves watching this video. He laugh every time!
I love huge Frogs/Toads, I just think they look so cool, I suddenly noticed how male Bullfrogs all have that funny(forget what it is called)subwoofer cone looking part on the left and right side and how on the females L/R side, the (subwoofer cones) are smaller. Another way to tell the Males apart from the Females also. I live near a natural marsh which also has a huge pond, with a cool dock that one can walk pretty far out into the swamp. A few days ago we went there and I saw a HUGE Bullfrog that was a male(next time I'll take my binoculars), he was like 6 feet away from me where i was sitting on the dock and I wish I could have taken him home with me. I have a big 20 gallon tank set up and waiting for a cool Bullfrog so I can "spoil him/her" with attention and plenty of food etc that they love.
I'm like 7 eats late but bullfrog need way more space than a 20 gallon. 40 gallon minimum for 1 frog.

As a boy, I had a pond filled to the brim with bullfrogs. I wish I could find a video remotely like it. Hundreds of frogs croaking.

It's almost impossible to get one frog call in a healthy pond. A pond near me has 12 different frog and toad species.

I always did like American bullfrogs. They are very common in Louisiana making their loud calls and large size. But they do taste good in fried frog legs.

Grew up in the east Texas river bottom and miss this sound. Healthy pond means healthy frongs (and snakes).

This is really neat. I think it is amazing how you recorded them so close, and I never knew that female Bull Frogs had white stomachs.
if yall want a easy way to catch frogs this size for kids or yourselves use a bass lure...Ive caught 3 big bullfrogs (2 female 1 male) off a rubber frog lure. If u see them put the frog lure in front of them and they will attack it (they wont get hooked) but they will grip it pretty tight so u can pull them on land, net or what have you. It works trust me!

Lang Elliott, would love an hour long video of this :copy and editing them together and THEN take that hour track and copy and overlay it, lower volume and off set by two seconds, onto the first hour long track. I have been searching for a good quality sleep video with many LOUD frog voices with no success. Tks

This is really interesting. This guy is up to 15 cm max, but the voice in this recording is as low as 215 Hz. Which is 1.58 m wavelength. Seems that this guy breaks the laws of physics :-)
