I love it despite the possible flaws. I made a water alarm twenty years ago that was simple like this. My mentor called it a hungry circuit, but ten years later it still worked and on the same battery. This circuit is easy, simple and works. I am going to build one.

The transistor in the schematic is incorrectly drawn. The base is always drawn sideways in the middle. Collector and emitter are always drawn at an angle. The emitter always has an arrow. For an NPN type it points outwards, for a PNP type it points inwards. Your arrow points in the wrong direction.
So a bungling the wires just to twist and wrap with some tape ...
That's probably the worst way to show something to others! Show it directly the right way, or let it be.
Use Wago clamps with the designation 221-413 and put this connection into a junction box.

Initial connections with transistor, resistor and LED are ok, thereafter wire connections are not at all clear. You could have make it better.
I like the clear plastic tape, you can see what is taped. Not everyone has just the right items available.
Dear, you can an other thing like heat shrink tube or wire sleep.

That soldering iron is bad. Its one of those cheap ones that the tips just disintegrate. Get a decent one. Weller, Hako etc.. Also you need to use heat sink on those silicon components so it takes the heat away. Especially with a over heated iron.

Dit is “plakken”. TIP: Deze “soldeerverbindingen” zijn niet betrouwbaar. A.u.b. soldeertin gebruiken en beide delen die aan verbonden moeten worden eerst van tin voorzien. Gewoon in elkaar draaien met een stukje plakband eromheen is al helemaal niet betrouwbaar.

With some adaptation to the LED bank, a 5V rechargeable could be used making the circuit non-maintaining. Very handy.

At 08:00 you are no model at all, by touching the energised 230V area (especially because of this crappy "insulation"). Thumbs down!

I really enjoyed the collector coming out of the base of the BD136. The circuit works but transistor representation is misleading.
Not a bad idea, but poorly implemented and presented. The 5V power supply connects to the battery via a diode only. To charge a lithium cell you need a charge controller, particularly if the charger is permanently connected to a standby battery.

Fun if you like going to the work of making stuff. I do too but not an electrician. Leds I like because they only have 2 wires and nothing happens if you hook it up backwards. 3 wires messes me up. So I payed 1.25 $ for a solar garden light and put it in the rooms i wanted emergency lites. If the power goes out the lites come on. And they look better. No disrespect.Just saying. I'm a carpenter and if I showed someone how to build cupboards and with all of the tools and knowledge they need, I would this k most wood just go buy them As well. Good job tho, I think.
