I also think it's worth noting that, yes, the bass singer can sing really low and it's so powerful and clean. But my dude is AAALLLLLL up and down the scale for that whole song. He's jumping almost an entire octave during the chorus back and forth, and that is SO HARD to do! So much respect.

Pentatonix is the closest humanity has come to the PERFECT combination of voices coming together to make music. Even when they change their line-up, they remain nearly perfect. It's like there's some music wizard that has magically brought these voices together. That sh*t doesn't just happen. There's some sorcery going on here.

This song is literal ear candy tbh, in the climax of the song (around 7 min), you can hear the harmonies and they are all belting so well. But my favorite part is listening for the layered bass on there. Avi has one of the best bass voices I've ever heard. His original music is so good. And Kevin, geez, he is so talented, in Pentatonix's cover of Radioactive, he is soooo good. Scott, I can't with him, trying to keep up with his runs is very difficult, and Kristin, such a lovely range, and cant get enough of her voice. And Mitch as well, his voice has got some umph to it but also is so beautiful in a softer setting. I love all of their older stuff. I make playlists for a couple yoga teachers and they specifically ask for this song at the end and it is perfect. Overall Pentatonix is an amazing group and I totally recommend a reaction video to sound of silence

The first time I heard Pentatonix, years ago, sing anything, I cried. I am not ashamed of tearing up for a beautiful blending of voices. I love four part harmony and choir singing and such. I think one of the best I heard was the Statler Brothers doing a song called Bed of Roses. I also am a huge fan of The Oak Ridge Boys doing American Made and a few others of theirs as well. I love the blending of the harmonies in the Beach Boys Kokomo. I am a deep Baritone and can hit bass if I try, but I can also hit a full on middle tenor if I want to. I cannot go from one extreme to the other without sliding there, but I can do moderation within a particular vocal range with ease. These guys (and gal), are superb at it. I have heard practically every major release from Pentatonix since I first heard them. They are the most incredible blend of disparate vocals melded together into a pleasing whole I think I have ever heard. And just to establish my range, I can do all four parts of Elvira if I must, and I can fill any of the four that a group is missing. I feel most comfortable with the baritone, but can do any of the other three as well.

Every. Time. I hear a good singer, I'm amazed and I get shivers but after it sinks in, I cry. I cry because I feel like I'll never get to that point with my voice. I never had the opportunity to learn and I certainly don't have the money to get that training now. I wish I could be an amazing singer with a unique voice. I wish I can write songs that touch peoples hearts, but I fear I might be too late.

      A) I agree: Disturbed kicked "SoS"'s ass. I literally listened to it on a loop for 3 weeks when Covid first hit (it both soothed and plummeted me deeper into my depression at the planet being on open-ended house arrest.)
      B) But! PXT also *owned* SoS in a whole different direction. Quite frankly chopped it up and re-spackled it together into a sparkly Frankenstein of their own design. So BOTH groups' renditions (and all the various recordings of them) are stellar. Especially live.
      C) Home Free is good but nowhere near as individually RIDICULOUS as PTX is. PTX's separate players are not only spectac, as a group they're somehow greater than their sum.

I think Mitch's vocal range is really spotlighted in "The Prayer" that they just release a little while ago. It is with their new bass singer, Matt. Avi, the former bass and second soloist in "Halleluhah" left the group amicably to go on to do other things and is still releasing music. Scott (the first soloist) will take up the bass line when the bass singer has a solo, as you heard in this arrangement. This track always gives me goosebumps, as does "Sound of Silence". Christmas is definitely their best genre, but they've rarely had a "dud" with any of their covers or original pieces. If you want to hear them individually, Scott and Mitch make up "Superfruit", and Avi, Kristin, and Kevin all have solo work. Kevin is also a celloist (cellist?). Their collaboration with Lindsey Stirling on Radioactive is very good, as is their recent collab "Over the River" is a treat.

I personally harmonize well with them, and they are just so beautiful to listen to. But they are no Acapella or AVB, which I've heard both groups preform live before and they paved the way for everyone in the acapella bands, and it is a joy to see what it started out as and had become. I love it all.

So the first fellow that sung was Scott. He's their lead. Interestingly, the guy in the beanie is (was) their bass singer, Avi Kaplan. He's no longer with the group, but you're absolutely right about his beautiful tone and timbre. He has a lot of solo stuff out now and his own RUclips channel. You should definitely put it on your list to check out his work. You won't be disappointed! And of course Mitch and Kirstin did a fantastic job with this as well.
