    I agree with avoiding physical rewards so you can scale as your Patreon grows. Offering a digital download is as easy to do for 1 person as it is 1,000. I offer animated loops, and a lot of it is repurposed from animated projects I'm already working on. The trick is figuring out how to repackage things you're already making into rewards, that way you aren't spending a ton of extra time just on Patreon, it can grow naturally as an extension to what you're already making!

    The people that I'm acquainted with who do very well on Patreon are vehemently against physical rewards unless it somehow connects to their already existent business and others often have to drop physical rewards once Patreon hits a certain scale. Like one person I know lets Patreon supporters have a reserved number for the purchase of limited edition prints. The only exception is having an annual pledge drive with an exclusive item like an enamel pin.

      The Dream Syndicate Art Dolls Making and sending these awards could be costly and time consuming for sure. Doing it once a year is a good idea. There are ways to make drop-shipped merchs cheaper, like using Printful. The making and sending is at least taken care of.

      @@VeryPrivateGallery how does a service like Printful different from S6 / InPrnt / Redbubble in that you lose that personal touch or connection with your customer? Is the only difference that they order directly from your own shopfront (Shopify, Squarespace etc). I can see the advantage if you are processing a large number of orders though, definitely, or especially with certain items that are fragile or expensive to the make and ship.

    Very well done! Unique information, I loved hearing your approach to Patreon. I’m worried about starting on mine too early, but it was cool to hear the honorary awards. I am thinking if I do a Facebook group then maybe I don’t have to post all the time, and it can be sort of self-created by the fans (with my approval) by encouraging fan art and then we could do monthly group calls. I was thinking of even doing monthly challenges like 5 mins of a still camera angle focused on nature. Taylor Swift did this for her lyric videos and I think it could be cool for mine, but I’d rather have other people take them. Then they could explain which song goes with the scenery and why. Just not sure if fans would actually want to do this without monetary compensation to them! I’m worried about what types of people I may attract on there since I have a wide range of fans, a lot of them are older men (like you were saying with the risqué video thing) which is fine because I have an older style of music anyway but younger women who like my music usually don’t feel such a sense of community with that demographic. I just hope if I create one, it’ll help create a better sense of community and that I wouldn’t have to post all the time, I feel like a physical box might suit me more since I’ve had success with my CDs. Just not sure where to price everything at, and how to keep $1 or $5 a month people interested when they aren’t getting as much as everyone else. In fact, I almost wonder if I should do just one price like any other kind of subscription box so people aren’t overwhelmed with options. Just not sure yet. I still have to figure out how to notate some chords for some of my songs if I want to send lyric sheets 😂 I was also thinking of including some quirky things in there like paper games: Mash, Bingo, Fortune teller, and eventually I may create my own tarot deck and board games based off my music. Also not sure if I want to include a custom merch option and I might save my art prints for my highest tier subscribers. Still total work in process, especially as I only have one merch item right now and it’s been hard to have the funds to create more. Perhaps if I stream on Twitch more and take a break from Instagram it could help create a better following!

      It’s easier to distribute and deliver digital content as rewards! Due to covid, all international shipping are super slow, and pricy. Its not easy to do the good old “print on demand & drop shipping” kind of merchs nowadays. If you can find a way to make digital content that people enjoy, it’s great.

    Hi there, I've got a tricky question for you about Patreon. I haven't set up a Patreon page yet but was considering starting one with full length 15min-25min video tutorials as part of the rewards. Is this possible given that Patreon sets the max upload size to 200Mb per video file :( I saw that some people are suggesting compress zip files which would still result in several uploads per tutorial. I read that HD video uses about 145Mb per minute. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you for the helpful video :)

    • @VeryPrivateGallery
      @VeryPrivateGallery  3 года назад +1

      Hi 🙋🏻‍♀️ If you use H.264 and compression using Premiere Pro settings, you can get HD video under 200MB although it’s not ideal. I think you can simply use unlisted RUclips videos and send your patrons the link. If you don’t mind paying, Vimeo is not bad either.

    • @myartcube
      @myartcube 3 года назад +1

      @@VeryPrivateGallery thank you so much for the advice! Is it also possible for me to just include the link in a text post on Patreon so they can access the link directly from the patreon page? Does Patreon allow for this?

    • @VeryPrivateGallery
      @VeryPrivateGallery  3 года назад +1

      @@myartcube Yes it can be a text with link, but it’s better if you can make a PDF with a message (like an update, a thank-you message etc).

      @@myartcube You are very welcome. Currently Vimeo is giving basic (free) plan to all users: “500MB per week of upload space, up to 5GB total account storage.” It’s not a lot but I believe you can use it for the first year. Vimeo is good you have to embed a link without the end-screen “recommended videos” to other channels. I am not sure if I expressed it clearly because English isn’t my first language.

    • @VeryPrivateGallery
      @VeryPrivateGallery  4 года назад

      Lorraine Yusay You can change the rewards whenever you want. I think it means the rewards are only available on Patreon, and it’s a community where fans can reach out if they want to. You certainly can generate formatted messages to your fans and send to everyone every month.

      Each RUclipsr makes different kind of money depending on the value of the ad placement. For example, business videos for CEOs would typically more expensive than teenage doll videos. Also depends on how many thousands of views you can generate.
