Another great episode .Might as well be me, sand bags aren't really meant to absorb water they are used for flow protection to stop water passing. The sand in the bag shapes itself to the one beside and above and makes a sealed barrier, effective up to around 3ft, if it absorbed the water like you are thinking it would become saturated and just seep through the other side, most of the canvas bags are water resistant but eventually will absorb water and are then a nightmare to dispose of, costs about £50 a tonne to dump as its classed as hazardous waste., another dodgy industry revolves around that if you want to peek down the rabbit hole.

Always flooded!!!! It was low down and it was rented so never fixed. Went right down to produce once! We got clean socks after though!
