I never used to wear foundation (hate the feeling on my skin) but now I’m obsessed with the Jones Road one. I actually look forward to putting it on every day. It really is just like a thick moisturizer that makes your skin look fantastic. Definitely worth the hype and the $ in my opinion
Same. I’ve got so many expensive foundations because I have redness and old but deep scarring from an accident. But the WTF foundation is the best product I’ve ever used. It’s a staple for me and that’s saying a lot because I can be very fickle.
I'm an oily skinned girl and I LOVE the danessa myricks balm. It's fun to use that satisfying, balmy textured product but have it set down to a powder finish. With my oily face, the powder finish turns into a gorgeous natural, lightly dewy finish throughout the day.
I just switched L'Oreal Face Balm, I find it very light on the skin and just blurs things out nicely. I find it great for light makeup days. And I would rather spend 11 bucks than Jones Road 40 bucks.
What do you use underneath for skincare or primer? I just ordered this - on sale it’s still more than you quoted (of course everything has gone up), but I’m wondering if it’s going to be discounted because the Age Perfect products and the serum foundation are usually on sale.
I ADORE the danessa balm powder. It’s literally holy grail. I did not get along with the tinted variety, but the universal is 💣 💣💣. If you have ULTRA oily skin, it’s a literal game changer. Use it as a primer and you can now wear foundation for more than a couple hours. Boom.
Re: Danessa Myricks Blurring Balm Powder I have dry skin and I love using it for light coverage days! I scrape the smallest amount on the back of my hand, spread it out in a thin layer with my fingers, then use a brush to pounce it on the areas I want to set. It works really well to control the shine of glowy sunscreens and it holds up through sweaty workout days. It also doesn’t dry out the skin either, truly a Goldilocks product for me.
Your close-up application footage is always SO helpful, Amanda. Great work. On days when I feel like I want foundation, I'll usually dip into my Sneaky Balm, or some of Rituel de Fille's new liquid foundation/skin tint thing. Mildly curious about the Blundercover and Danessa Myricks Yummy Balm, since I'm oil-prone, buuut chances are I'll just stick with what I've already tried for now.
Thanks for including affordable options! I remember using a potted, creamy foundation 100 years ago and was so sad when it disappeared from the shelves. I’m glad these are back.
The first Bobbi Brown company made a fantastic whipped cream gel foundation in a jar. It provided buildable light to medium coverage. The effect on my skin was breathtaking. I looked so glowy without looking sparkly nor shimmery, and when it set, it did not feel greasy. This stuff was super holy grail BUT for two reasons: the lavender essential oil fragrance and the outlandish price. It came in a gorgeous frosted glass jar. By the time I finished the jar, the product was discontinued. I wonder if this Jones Road foundation is like that or more similar to the Bobbi Brown Tinted Balm.
I think this IS a replacement for that. Bobbi said she actually made this Jones Road because the corporates wanted to take a direction she didn’t agree with (like discontinuing the products like this)
I was thinking the same thing! I tried looking for that myself! I bought it once and loved. Than poof ! Gone! I remember alot of people didnt like the scent however i did. I didnt think it smelled like lavendar ..at the time i remember it as a strong herb like scent? I want to order the WTF because of that balm but im afraid of ordering the wrong shade..i wish i could find in stores
I love my salt new York sneaky balm! It's so beautiful. I was kind of curious about the blundercover, but watching your comparison I think I'm happier with sneaky balm. It's seriously just so pretty, it's the epitome of looking like I'm just having a good skin day. ❤️
I DEFINITELY don't need the new Jones Road WTF foundation. I have an oily skin type and imagine that this foundation is my worst nightmare! But I still love watching reviews on it lol
I've just recently started using Monika Blunder and as you said, it is so beautifully versatile. Some days I just tap it on with my fingers in areas where I need it, other days I go for a fuller coverage. I love it.
Oh yes, Monica Blunder is the best! I bought it last year and I barely touch the product with my brush a few times and it covers perfectly. Looks like just good skin. I just have to buy a couple more shades since finding out my actual skintone a couple of months ago, never knew I had olive undertone!
Those little beads are the butters starting to crystallize. Butters get tempered, like chocolate, without the chemicals to hold the tempering the crystals start to clump. It’s not bad at all-it probably means it’s more natural. It could also be it just wasn’t tempered properly. My guess in transit it just was a bit unstable with the temps.
WOW that Monica Blunder Balm is STUNNING!!!!!! Edit: just bought the Monica Blunder Balm and OMG I'm so excited for it. I havent been this excited for a foundation in a long time. I hope I got the right shade. I'm a light neutral and ordered 2.5.
I wish I saw this BEFORE I ordered Monika Blunder… I did their shade finder and everything, and it took me buying 5 shades to finally discover that 2.5 is my best base shade as someone with a very pink, fair/light complexion… 🤦♀️ The makeup is STUNNING-it looks and feels so great: very skin-like but with *great* coverage-but their earlier, minimal product descriptions made it difficult to find the right shade. Had I seen this video first, based on our complexion differences, I feel like I would’ve been able to see that 2 was too light for me (in summer, at least)… It’s a great highlighter tone year-round though! And one more note: Although I now have shades 1, 2, 2.25, 2.5 and 3 in Blunder Cover, they can actually *all* work for me during different times of the year and for different reasons (e.g. 3 around the outer edges of my face is super-slimming!). Anyhow, it’s a very versatile and flexible product.
I absolutely love What the Foundation (I have super dry skin) and the Jones Road concealer pencil. It's my favorite concealer, right ahead of Kosas. I use my finger to blend it out and it provides a bit of coverage but more importantly brightness so I don't have to apply my loreal lumi wand on top of the concealer because it does both!
Yes I ordered Jones road wtf in porcelain and beige and I noticed those pigment dots. They do not look bad on skin. Guess some of the pigment didn’t break down. I love this product! My skin looks so amazing. I have very oily skin so I already know this is not what I’m gonna wear during the summer with that said nine months out of the year I’ll be wearing it!
I would love to be able to try the Jones road someday but, in the meantime, I got the l'oreal and I absolutely love it. It's like skincare. Yes I can see imperfections on my skin, but my skin looks better anyway, I dont understand why I still like it regardless but there you go. I guess I'll have to eventually get my hands on the Monica blunder instead great great great 🤣💖💖
Love your deep dives 😍 they are so much work but I will always refer back to your videos as reference when buying things 🥺 trying to share to many interested people too
I love the Blunder Cover, too. I’m in 2.25 and it’s just about perfect on my skin. It sets down without a setting powder and lasts well for a 12 hour shift with a mask on. Salt New York doesn’t ever seem to set, even if I powder after. It shifts a bit on me too, but that may be because of my moisturizer. Still so curious about the DM balm powder. Thanks for the reviews!
What a great lineup of products. Just what I was looking for. I've never even heard of 1/2 those brands. I've been wanting to change to a cream type sheer foundation.
One of my favorite cream foundation balms is the Rituel de Fille Ethereal Veil Conceal and Cover and the Undone Beauty 3 in 1 Coverage Palette - both really great formulas
I really appreciate the showcasing of balms. I've been hesitant to try jones road and settled on loreal for a first product tryout, but now I know where to go from here if it's not just right for me.
Oh girrrrl I know allll about testing new makeup and finding myself lookin a fool when I go to the bathroom 🙄🙄 but I still love doing it lol. I LOVE trying new makeup and formulas so much. Because when you find a gem - it's all worth it!
Great round up! I love my Covergirl & Olay, so was great to hear it compared against the others. I realise there's no need to spend more. I apply mine with a sponge spritzed with Physicians Formula Healthy Toner (your recommendation) & find it has great skinlike coverage ❤
Very nice video. Thanks for the research of our options. I’m waiting for my WTFoundation to arrive. Might need to try the Monica Blunder. Love the Miracle Balm.
I find it strange that not one RUclipsr has talked about the fact the Bobbi brown brand had the tinted moisturising balm. I used to own it and was so surprised no one seems to know the BB line
You do such a good job educating. I turn to you for reviews even though my skin is nothing like yours. I can really see how something applies and covers. Thank you!
The instructions for the L’Oreal balm specifically say to use your fingers in a downward motion. It’s not a foundation, so using the brush is the reason it didn’t work well for you. I just apply it like a moisturizer and love it. I found the cover-girl dry and hard to apply.
I’d love for you to try the jones road concealer/ foundation sticks! They have a clear base apparently so theyr Nvr supposed to appear ashy. As Iv gotten older (few months short of 30) Iv preferred less and less coverage. I still have acne and things to hide but heavy foundations just don’t sit on my skin like they used to. I’d love your opinion very helpful 😊
The Jones Road WTF Balm would be perfect (for me) if it had SPF in it so it could be a one-and-done type of product. It reminds me a lot of the DRMTLGY SPF Tinted Foundation, just without the SPF. Sheer yet evens out skintone enough but doesnt look like I'm wearing anything. The DRMTLGY one has a SPF of 46, I believe so it's definitely a one and done type of product, which I adore. I own both but considering returning the WTF Balm because of the lack of SPF in it. But wow it looks amazing on my skin. But so does the DRMTLGY one too.
I apply the DRMTLGY SPF tinted sunscreen before the Jones Road Beauty WTF foundation. I wait about 15 minutes, then apply the foundation. So far, so good!
JR: Granules, finicky butter in product melted/formulated too quickly. Blunder & Wayne Goss: Wonder if their balms are made by RCMA. RCMA: If too stiff, add 1 drop of oil (they sell it or use your own), to brush, sponge or product & sheer out product. L'oreal: I felt it sat on top of my skin.
Video idea: I love your dissection of different foundation formulas and how you describe them. Maybe you could do a “Foundation Formula Breakdown” and go through the different categories /types of foundation in your collection and demonstrate with example products.
Thank you so much for comparing all these products!! I only wish I could have seen how these balms apply with your hands too. Isn't that what the Jones Road instructions suggest? Every channel I see reviewing this is using their brushes but to me the appeal of a "balm" is the simplicity to swipe it on without too much fuss & go. I wonder how much the brush is absorbing and taking away. I would be curious to see if your opinion would change of any of these with a different application.
One of my favorite balm like cream foundation is the Milani one. I find is it a dupe for the KVD good apple foundation just un bit less coverage. Just wanted to share this info. Thanks Amanda for the video.
I don't even wear foundation but it's Amanda so I am still watching. I don't remember if you decided on doing the Tom Ford video or not but I would still be interested if you are up to it.
I've seen it on PRO MUA videos (like Hrush) that they use a mixing medium with the RCMA cream makeup, like a moisturizer when they use it as a foundation. I think it's a concentrated product, that when you mix it with a moisturizer it helps thin out the formula and can help you manipulate the finish/coverage level well as go back in and build up the coverage.
Thank you for this roundup! Loved the demos. Would it be possible to get a mosaic (think Brady Bunch) of all the demo footage at the end of these types of vids? It’d be super helpful in comparing finishes and textures!
I have very dry skin. I like the WTF but I think it will be much better in winter than summer. I have to wear primer under it or my face itches. My jar has not separated but it has gotten the little oil beads in it. My favorite foundation that I think does better at getting what the WTF is going for is the Vapour liquid foundation. Thanks for the video!
Thanks for the review!:) this balm doesn’t look like having a smoothing or blurring effect on your skin to be honest,it looks like you have applied nothing lol I think reboot foundation looks way better on you for this effect xoxo
i love your videos LOL i find them so relaxing and educational. you scratch my tati westbrook itch. i hope that doesnt sound weird it's just such a specific vibe.
Hallo, ❤️ thank you for this review. Great view on this type of product. Really appreciated a better understanding of balm like items. Can tell not my thing but if I do try it I can make a better choice. Hugs and keep fighting. I am gutted too.
I've never had an issue with the beads in my WTF container. I do apply with my fingers, so if there were any beads, I think my fingers would break them down. I have found that cream foundations are better for my maturing skin.
hi, I am trying to figure out how to Stop my mascara from running into my under eye coverage. I have tried sooo many different coverage, as well as at least 10 different kinds of mascara. I am 62, and do not have really dry or moist skin. But I am usually "proud" of my eye shadow and mascara, and it has been so disappointing for so many years! I am sympathizing with your issue and not picking at you.
Have you tried to Purito BB Cream? The Jones Road WTF reminds me of that more than any kind of traditional “balm” or “cream” foundations. They both feel like a thicker type of hydrating cream/lotion and they actually have similar coverage (although I think Purito gives you slightly more coverage).
Yes. I experienced the beads on wtf. I rub the product on the back of the hand and apply. I didn’t try with a brush yet , I thought beauty blender would be ok but I don’t like how it sets.
I seen reviews by other influencer state that Jones road that you really can’t wear skin care with it. That it separates in the jar. Also doesn’t play well with other makeup. I am happy with my sneaky balm so I wouldn’t purchase anything else. I just build coverage if I want to with my concealer.
Ritual de Fills offers samples of their balm. I ordered a couple and liked one of the shades. However, I did not like the strong lavender scent. It never dissipated. I almost ordered a full size despite the smell, but decided to try the Sneaky Balm instead. I'm glad I did because I thought it looked better on me and it didn't stink. By the way, I have tried all the balms in your video except for the Jones Road. I think I'll skip that one. My assessments about the foundations are similar to yours. Excellent job on the video!
I was gutted when the Danessa Myricks balm was described as a powder finish because powder finishes are not my vibe and I’d love for her to come out with a product like her highlighter balms but with coverage
I need a full coverage concealer for spots and my super dark undereyes, medium for the veins I have in my cheeks and sheer for everywhere else. Do you think that the blunder cover would be perfect? How do you find it blends with fingers? I don't really like to use brushes and I'm hoping it's easy enough to sheer out with fingers without a bunch of tugging :-))
Hi, I was confused by the two swatches in the video..Is "Porcelain" lighter than "Fair"....I need the lightest shade and I thought, by their swatches, that "Porcelain" is lighter than "Fair"....In your video though, it looks like the word Fair is by the lighter shade and Porcelain is by the darker shade. Can you clarify? Thanks
The granules in the Jones Road were a deal breaker for me. I LOVE Bobbi Brown and I really wanted to love this foundation, but I just couldn't get the granules to buff out.
IDK, I don't care for the JR foundation. Every content creators video on this, I find it looks like it's sitting on the skin. Personally, I don't wear foundation, I lightly powder or wear my Saie Beauty Glowy Gel and lightly powder. I can never find a true foundation match, so I don't bother with foundation. However, if you're old enough to remember Prescriptives make up line, I could get a custom foundation and it was bomb. I would like to try the Danessa Myrick universal balm, but I think it has Dimethicone and I try to stay away from silicone products.
Good lord, $52 dollars for the Monika foundation. Even for high end, this is pricey and you don't even get a whole ounce. Can we get an affordable dupe?
Here is the lipstick I'm wearing for you guys!!! Shade "Annie": shop-links.co/chybuLD2Hel *aff link!
That lipstick looks so good on you. How do you like the formula?
Can't get link to wrk .what lipstick is it
I never used to wear foundation (hate the feeling on my skin) but now I’m obsessed with the Jones Road one. I actually look forward to putting it on every day. It really is just like a thick moisturizer that makes your skin look fantastic. Definitely worth the hype and the $ in my opinion
Me too. It’s also worth the drive to get color matched if you’re near the flagship store.
Same. I’ve got so many expensive foundations because I have redness and old but deep scarring from an accident. But the WTF foundation is the best product I’ve ever used. It’s a staple for me and that’s saying a lot because I can be very fickle.
Agree!!
I'm an oily skinned girl and I LOVE the danessa myricks balm. It's fun to use that satisfying, balmy textured product but have it set down to a powder finish. With my oily face, the powder finish turns into a gorgeous natural, lightly dewy finish throughout the day.
Seriously the most useful makeup reviewer on RUclips. SO under-appreciated.
I just switched L'Oreal Face Balm, I find it very light on the skin and just blurs things out nicely. I find it great for light makeup days. And I would rather spend 11 bucks than Jones Road 40 bucks.
I second this! It’s so good.
@@BrendaHernandez-ts1re same here. I love it, the price is right and it actually blurs my pores on my nose
Me too!
What do you use underneath for skincare or primer? I just ordered this - on sale it’s still more than you quoted (of course everything has gone up), but I’m wondering if it’s going to be discounted because the Age Perfect products and the serum foundation are usually on sale.
If you don’t care for animals in testing labs and the horrendous cruelty they endure for you to be able to wear makeup, then I guess go for it.
Boom.
Re: Danessa Myricks Blurring Balm Powder
I have dry skin and I love using it for light coverage days!
I love your review of this - I’m interested what do you mean a Goldilocks ie “just right” is this what that means lol 😝 Greetings from Ireland!
Your close-up application footage is always SO helpful, Amanda. Great work. On days when I feel like I want foundation, I'll usually dip into my Sneaky Balm, or some of Rituel de Fille's new liquid foundation/skin tint thing. I live Bobbi brown serum foundation . It’s just lovely

I have been LOVING Jones Road Beauty. I have been waiting for something like this.
Hi Danielle
I DEFINITELY don't need the new Jones Road WTF foundation. I have an oily skin type and imagine that this foundation is my worst nightmare! But I still love watching reviews on it lol
I've just recently started using Monika Blunder and as you said, it is so beautifully versatile. Some days I just tap it on with my fingers in areas where I need it, other days I go for a fuller coverage. I love it.
I’m combo and I’ve been thinking about getting this. Would you say it looks skin like? I’m always worried about looking like I have makeup on
I've been waiting for this video! Thanks for all the detailed review

JR, kvd and loreal looked sooo good on your skin!
I love the Monika Blunder Foundation, looks so natural on my skin!
Is it dewy? I couldn't tell if it was a super hydrating formula or if it was just her skincare :-)
Really appreciate that way you do these videos, showing how you apply is very helpful.
I wish I saw this BEFORE I ordered Monika Blunder… I did their shade finder and everything, and it took me buying 5 shades to finally discover that 2.5 is my best base shade as someone with a very pink, fair/light complexion… 🤦♀️

I just bought the L'Oreal balm yesterday, so this video comes at exactly the right time 😃 Really want to learn more about these balm foundations.

I used it too and loved it.
I used it, but the fragrance constantly made my eyes water. I want to try this, but worried about the same thing happening.

Salt NY makes a great balm foundation, my first choice then Monika Blunder❤

I found the cover-girl dry and hard to apply.
Wonderful comparison. Thank you for sharing it was very informative . I just learned about two new brands from your video ..
I actually wear the Danessa Myricks balm under the WTF as a primer. They both work really well together.

In the store, they apply everything with fingers- like makeup artists usually do.
@@Jen-oo8ss Oh good. Did you try it that way? Did you like it?
@@ivyandroses25 absolutely. My skin has changed with age/hormones. A little heat from your fingers helps blend the pencils, and pat in WTF.

This is a great vid. Content creating!
Girl I thumbs you up before I even watch 😄💕
Excellent presentation! Thank you.
Girl what's on your lips because I'm loooooving the look of it, and also the color suits you so well!!!
Same!!!
Thanks for the review!:) this balm doesn’t look like having a smoothing or blurring effect on your skin to be honest,it looks like you have applied nothing lol I think reboot foundation looks way better on you for this effect xoxo
oh wow, it looks great on you!
i love your videos LOL i find them so relaxing and educational. you scratch my tati westbrook itch. i hope that doesnt sound weird it's just such a specific vibe.
Great review!!
Great, informative video. Thanks.
So many young girls are trying this foundation which is actually for Older women.
Thank you. Very informative!
Would love to see a video on drugstore and k beauty lip stains
Love your reviews, but I was expecting and would have appreciated the comparison with the Chantecaille future skin.
Yes! I can only trust your reviews since you turned me onto my fav foundation!
Yes. I experienced the beads on wtf. I rub the product on the back of the hand and apply. I didn’t try with a brush yet , I thought beauty blender would be ok but I don’t like how it sets.
The Yummy Skin reminds me of the old Mary Kay cream to powder foundation 😁
I seen reviews by other influencer state that Jones road that you really can’t wear skin care with it. That it separates in the jar. Also doesn’t play well with other makeup. I am happy with my sneaky balm so I wouldn’t purchase anything else. I just build coverage if I want to with my concealer.
Have you tried the Rituel de Fille concealer/foundation balm creme?
I haven't! But I'm interested :)
Thank you for this!!! A++
Hi, I was confused by the two swatches in the video..Is "Porcelain" lighter than "Fair"....I need the lightest shade and I thought, by their swatches, that "Porcelain" is lighter than "Fair"....In your video though, it looks like the word Fair is by the lighter shade and Porcelain is by the darker shade. Can you clarify?
Thanks
The granules in the Jones Road were a deal breaker for me. I LOVE Bobbi Brown and I really wanted to love this foundation, but I just couldn't get the granules to buff out.
My beads did not melt down. It was awful..I really like the colored balms but the beads drove me crazy?
Which is the sheerest lightest product?
IDK, I don't care for the JR foundation. Every content creators video on this, I find it looks like it's sitting on the skin. Personally, I don't wear foundation, I lightly powder or wear my Saie Beauty Glowy Gel and lightly powder. I can never find a true foundation match, so I don't bother with foundation. However, if you're old enough to remember Prescriptives make up line, I could get a custom foundation and it was bomb.
I would like to try the Danessa Myrick universal balm, but I think it has Dimethicone and I try to stay away from silicone products.
I remember the Prescriptives makeup line! I used to love their foundation!
Good lord, $52 dollars for the Monika foundation. Even for high end, this is pricey and you don't even get a whole ounce. Can we get an affordable dupe?
Obviously a very different texture, but how would you compare the finish/coverage/wear to the ilia super serum skin tint?
Do you use a primer underneath these, or does that make them slide off?
So many product review in this vid. small percent spent on Jones road I specifically came here to hear about JR Got a bit over whelmed
How does Wayne Goss compare?
have you tried the JRB in alabaster?
Give her a break man! 😂😂❤️❤️
You have such beautiful skin! Jealous!
I’ve always wanted to try the Monika Blunder foundation but castor oil makes me break out 😪 same reason why I can’t use the elf mint melt primer 😭
