Dallas Cowboys news earlier this week actually featured another signing, as Royce Freeman joined on a 1-year deal. While he is not guaranteed a roster spot (we assume), it might take the Cowboys out of the mix for Ezekiel Elliott, according to Clarence Hill.

Jerry Jones and Bill Belichick are friends and both want to win now. Belichick reportedly liked the idea of “sticking it to the Krafts” by working for Jerry, but the Cowboys are “change-averse” with head coaches and kept Mike McCarthy. One friend of Belichick thinks he will only coach again for Jerry Jones.

The Cowboys need to get a big boost from last year’s 1st round NFL Draft Pick: Mazi Smith. Here’s what Stephen Jones said about Smith’s future: “He didn't play as much as we would have liked (last season). I think it was a learning process with him, learning what Dan (Quinn) wanted out of the defensive linemen. We knew when we drafted him out of Michigan that he was asked to play the one-technique a little different than Dan likes to see it played. I think the way (Mike Zimmer) is going to ask these guys to play is probably a little more in line with what he did at Michigan. But we feel really good about Mazi.”

I'm still confused! Mazi is supposed to be this phenomenal athlete, but he couldn't figure out how to explode out of his stance?! Why was he so slow to rise up? For a great athlete, seems like a simple thing to do. Botherd me all year.

dak throws well when he has a great oline sadly they picked up nobody of importance and they need to spend 2 of the top 3 on oline and hope they turn out. Most important is a Center since travis fredrick’s loss the oline dropped tremendously tyler biadaz. was actually bad bc he was so weak he got driven back every play bc how weak he was for a center. oline controls the game would like to see 2 premium picks and then a undrafted
Zimmer and Belichick would be a hell of a Staff, defensively for sure.
Retreads and wishful thinking on past draftees is not a formula for playoff success, if you get there at all.
Zeke needs to head to the UFL, where he can probably break runs of more than 10 yards.

The Cowboys at this point should dump their entire roster including this year’s draft picks for future draft picks of the upcoming three to four years so they can stock up with good young raw talent, and within that time bring in a big time college coach who is familiar with the talent at the college level. Within three to four years this team would collapse before rebuilding into a championship caliber team.
