I’m with you in fixed bezel GMT’s. It’s utility is really if you’re only tracking one remote TZ and don’t travel much, or you just track UTC, or just use it as an AM/PM indicator for home time. Outside of that, it’s not an easy watch to quickly reference other TZ’s especially while you’re traveling.
The point of a true gmt watch is to set the 24 hour hand to your home timezone and being able to quick set your local time with the jumping hour hand while traveling. What you are describing isn't a gmt watch at all. A jumping 24 hour hand is a burden while traveling
SMP300 is a keeper for life. I'm extremely picky about keepers in my collection. I got mine (at an AD in LA funnily enough) and within the first couple days of wearing I knew. This is an instant classic that brings comfiness to a whole 'nother level (on the rubber strap of course). That beautiful black ceramic dial with the waves that look gray in the light... My god 😍. SMP300 is incredible value for what you get. Get one while you still can, I have a feeling prices will continue to go up for the SMP (it just went up by $200 for both rubber and steel versions) last month and eventually get harder to get.
@@Doggo-frencton I like the most classic black dial with black bezel on rubber. In my opinion, the black ceramic dial with the black bezel, contrasts the best against the brushed steel sides of the case. It really makes the brushed and polished beveled edges pop because of the black and steel contrast. I also think the red "seamaster" text combined with the red seconds hand tip accent looks the best against the black dial and bezel. Add the waves that play with the light so well against the black c dial and look light gray or dark gray depending on the angle and.... 🤌🤌 chef's kiss my friend. The white dial is very nice too but the ceramic dial and waves doesn't play with the light like the black (and presumably blue dial) does. I would pick black dial first, then the green second (its a gorgeous dark green), blue third, and white last.
I sold mine as well a few months back and don’t miss it. You know my vote will be for a 2254/2256, but waiting to see what Omega will be releasing soon is also a great idea. Decisions, decisions 🤔
Ah ok, did you end up selling it just bc it wasnt getting much wear? Yeah its a great watch but knowing that it'll make way for a seamaster will make things ok and in the end even wearing the BB Pro again for the video, i didnt get the urge to keep it. Yeah I know your vote for the 2254 lol, your comment last week was a very timely reminder for me! Here's to hoping for an brand new 2254 release from omega this year😁
@@thewatchidiot yeah, it came down to I wasn’t wearing it much and there was another watch that I wanted more. I’m starting to realize that the thing I enjoy most about collecting is the experience of discovering new watches, and with a non-unlimited budget, I’ll always have to sell to buy from time to time.
Sometimes something has to go to make room for something new. Not everyone can afford to keep everything that they have owned either financially or maybe because of room. I'm not quite in that situation yet but I can appreciate it completely. Best of luck with the new purchase TWI what ever it is. Watches and Wonders is just around the corner as well so plenty to look forward to.
I really like that two tone T50. But I'm kind of weird, usually when I first get a watch I'm disappointed but then it grows on me more. That's happened more than a few times.
The two tone T50 is really cool and the full bronze gold version is such a cool combo! I get what you mean, its happened to me a few times before that a watch slowly grew on me. The Traska Venturer GMT that I just got was like that!
Please look at the San Martin SN0112G. It’s the perfect meeting point between a 90s Explorer 2 and the Milsub, especially in its 60min timing insert configuration. Also comes with 12 hour and world time bezels.
I’m still wearing mine every day and loving it, the rest off my watches share the day shift (work). How did you clean up the bracelet? The new 60th seamaster looks great for peeps that don’t like a date. I think I would struggle not to get the 2264, I’ve yet to get hands on with that or the 2254 but from pics they look great. I was excited by the t50, I’d like a longer power reserve but at that price the clasp is a deal breaker, I’ll never wear a bracelet watch without on the fly adjustment.
Having watched last week's seamaster video, I'm not surprised at all and I get what you're saying this level of keeper watch, the BB PRO is an incredible watch and you clearly enjoy it but you really seem to have a special connection with the Seamaster so if the BB Pro is going to be sold for any watch I'm glad to see that it's for the Seamaster
Yeah this level of keeper is a special one bc I would have kept the BB Pro had it not been for a very very compelling watch looking to take its place and i dont think i would sell the BB Pro for anything short of the Seamaster. Wearing it again was so special so lets see which version ends up in the collection!
For me, I’m selling mine now also, it’s the lume colour that has finally worn me down on annoyance, I’ve just decided I like black and white contrast so got a sinn 555a and pocket the extras for now.
My watch collection is BB58Blue, BBPRO and recently Batgirl too. The functionality of the Batgirl blows me away. I have worn the BB58 a couple of times and do love the timer capability, as well as how easy it is to tell time without the extra fuss. I put the BBPro on yesterday and have been really enjoying it. My thoughts are, you can time stuff on any watch, just takes a little more mental capacity. The Pro is a beautiful colour combination, that off white, the orange, really draws me in, I have the hybrid strap where the stitching colour matches the off white indices. With regards to changing time on the fly, it is easy to change the local time, I leave my GMT on my home countries time always anyway (I'm from UK and live in NZ) so it doesn't effect me. As much as the rotatable bezel would increase functionality, it isn't a deal breaker for me, the Pro has more useable functionality for me than the Pro. I think the fixed bezel makes the watch feel more rugged (which it probably does from an engineering standpoint too). I am debating buying the braclet for it 😊
The bracelet is truly awesome. I'm wearing my BBPro almost all the time because of it and get use of the full 8mm playroom on a daily basis. Highly recommend!
Lots of people selling their BBPro, it looks like they didnt like the size or thickness of this watch. A mark of nowadays, were nothing last, and we change inmediatly if we dont like something, or we can blame to initially bad buying decisions. Collecting dont mean keeping, but seems there is another way too look the passion for watches. Just my opinion
Worst case scenario, you get the SanMartin interpretation of it or their new Pepsi interpretation and be as happy with it as with your "62mas". Then you can use the cash for another Omega 😊
Lol it was a keeper for me too… 3 months and yes it was the thickness for me. I purchased a Rolex 16570 polar and absolutely love it. Nice and thin, I have come to the conclusion I am a 12 ish mm thick or less guy.
I have both the pro and the blue SMP. Both forever keepers in my collection, but so us any luxury piece I buy. I'm very specific with one watch per brand/utility/size/color, etc. Omega stole me with the blue smp 300m as my diver and Tudor stole me with the pro as my gmt.
if it has a rotateable bezel it's not a explorer ii it's a gmt. It's OK to sell a piece that you thought you'd wear more, but just didn't. I've had a lot of watches. Some of them were expensive and others much cheaper. I only keep two, maybe three at a time. Right now my duo is a tudor black bay 41/omega flightmaster. I have had the flightmaster for more than 15 years and it was the one I just always pick up and wore. Keep the ones that stick and never buy new.
Oh man I'm trying not to think about that one right now lol! That would be perfect watch to slot into the BB Pro place and take care of my explorer II needs
When the Pro did not work for me, I. just kept wearing my OLKO version 39 and have never looked back. Both are homages to one of the greatest Rolexes (in my opinion), and the Steinhart just does it so well.
I respect your point of view, a combination of not being truly happy/satisfied, the collectors' need of moving forward, and especially the finances behind it. It just doesn't make any sense having 4k parked in a box and not fully enjoying'em. That being said, I just don't understand why people like Seikos so much or the cult following. I get it, but never understood. Never did, never will. Above US$500 for a Seiko? No, thank you. Not even above US$250. Also, their designs are simply awful. The materials they use look so cheap - not by value, but like scraped together, their lack of identity and whatever goes. I always considered them a phase to grow out of as ok, you are a teenager and you get a Seiko your first automatic with a bracelet to interchange with your G-Shock thoughout the week. They are so overrated. Dunno, that's how I have always felt about them. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I also have the BB Pro. It's a great watch and I can see it being in my collection for a while. But, I do agree that, it is one that I COULD flip if needed. I have been eyeing an IWC Mark XX in Blue and I have always wanted the 16570 Polar, despite it being inferior in just about every way to the BB Pro.
I don’t really understand what Tudor is trying to accomplish with the design of the Black Bay Pro. An industrial looking mishmash that has me asking pro for what? It’s like Tudor couldn’t decide if they wanted to make it a diver, gmt or a field watch and just slapped something together that vaguely resembled a Rolex Explorer 2 on a fake rivet bracelet. Meh get the Omega not another bland homage clone. 😂
Really it’s all not the end of the world. I love watches and have quite a few but the more i look at these videos i begin to feel more shallow. Is this is what we are about there’s war and famine .
I've toyed with buying a Tudor but I just can't bring myself to do it...I think is a good daily if you own a Rolex but Tudor will never truly be a showpiece watch...it will forever but in Rolex shadow, plus they are a bit boring 😴
Excuses … excuses to sell the watch and buy another watch, we create all these excuses in our heads to justify the itch to buy another watch, no one needs a $4k automatic watch to tell the time when traveling, you already have a phone and a $100 gshock with 30 stored cities will tell you all you need, it’s just that new watch itch, the addiction. Cheers
