I got up this morning and my remote wouldn’t work. I have three remotes, so I grabbed another. Popped in fresh batteries and viola!…nothing. I followed all instructions. I unplugged everything! I did an online reboot of everything. Didn’t work. Second problem arose. I then did another full reboot. Again! Nothing. Finally got it on the third try but it came back still with no remote abilities. I went to RUclips and after three more fails, I found you! Thank you so much!!! Everything is back. My remote is working great. I am so grateful. I woke up at 5:30am and after finding you is was 9:15am! I would have had to call Spectrum and spend three more hours… Thank you sir! ❤
Thanks bro. I was a contractor technician for time Warner and then spectrum. I always had to put codes on from paper to tv model.The new remotes and new box i could find code. Then i found your video and i got both problems fixed.

My wife got the new remote and I knew they had somehow overwritten the default remote and nothing on Spectrum website helped. So on a whim I searched spectrum remote not working for DVR and you video was first to pop up and was exactly what was needed. Sad that Spectrum cannot provide such an easy video themselves. Also sad that you cannot get revenue from this yourself as it deserves something. hopefully your channel will grow enough to get monitized and you can get some tips. Thanks.

Not sure if you will see this? We just replaced our DVR and remote. I have 2 questions, 1. For every channel, we need to adjust the volume, there is no consistency, 2. When we fast forward, our old remote restarted the show back a bit, so no show was missed. This remote doesn’t do that, is there a way to adjust the timing?
So the volume issue is not a Spectrum issue but rather a broadcasting channel issue. Some broadcasters set their volume feed different than others. As far as the DVR issue you are having….the new boxes don’t have the ability for you to adjust buffer speed so that it starts the show back a bit, but once you hit play there is the 10 second skip back that can be done by pressing the “back” button on the remote. Hope this helps a bit.
@@dgreigor78 thank you for the DVR playback suggestion. As far as the volume adjust, not sure if it’s the issue you have suggested. We have had the same television, for several years, and none of the stations, that we frequently watch, have changed. It’s not a big deal, that’s what the volume button is for😃
How do you fix the volume button to control the television after the remote has been paired to the tv? I’ve tried unplugging the box and waiting the 20 minutes but volume button still fails to work. It worked prior to me pairing the RF function.

So I programed my element Roku TV. But its only powering off and on the volume works. That's it. I can't move the cursor using the spectrum controller.
It has to be programmed to the tv in order to control the inputs, the up/down button will only work to control the cable box not the tv, in some cases you may need to continue to press the input button to toggle inputs, but some tv brands will not allow this to work
Try this: Make sure tv and cable box are on --Hold down "ok" button & "menu" button until INPUT key blinks twice --press and release the TV Power button once --press the #8 key Let me know if it works
Your suggestion of #2 worked for me, but cable broadcast shows, or dvr recordings will not pause or scan with remote, despite that the cable box display is flashing, so it is accepting signal. Also, I only have a settings option to go to, not settings/support, so I can't fine custom the remote to box like you show.
@@dgreigor78 I think it the box says DCX-3600M, or 3400M. It's hard to read the faded numbers. I think it might be Motorola. Spectrum gave me the remote (as in your video), to replace my old RC122 remote, which had developed weak buttons. They don't have the 122's anymore, though I could buy one on ebay. I may ultimately have to resort to that, if I can't get this remote to fully function with the box..
@@histubeness ok so it looks like you have an older box with the new Spectrum Guide software, let me see which code or steps that remote needs to activate the play/pause/rw/ffw buttons
Ok try this 1st: 1. Press and hold MENU and Nav Down keys simultaneously until the INPUT key blinks twice. 2. Press 9-8-7 digit keys. The INPUT key will blink four times to confirm pairing has been disabled. Then try to follow the steps I showed in this video for Menu+2
Now if that still doesnt work then you have a Motorola Spectrum Box with the previous software. You should be able to confirm this if the following happens: if when you press menu button, you see the quick menu options on the left starting with "Watch TV" down to "Feature Tour" If this is the case then you have the wrong remote that does not completely support your type of box

The Spectrum cursor controller buttons will not function with your Roku TV, you will need another approach with that

My dad had Alzheimer’s. He used to do the same thing. I put tape over the buttons. He would remember not to press them better. Good luck!
