I love the Screaming Trees many many years after first discovering them! The mainstream didn't work out for their music, but before that they recorded brilliant stuff!
A lot of people don't realize what an influence the Trees,Mark in particular, was on Nirvana and Kurt Cobain. Kurt looked up to them, they were a little older and were already in SST records and playing killer gigs when Nirvana were just starting out. Mark's "Winding Sheet" solo record was the blueprint for the sound of Nirvana Unplugged and Nirvana were even on that album,on Mark's version of "Where Did You Sleep Last Night?",in 1990,a few years before Kurt's (Nirvana's) iconic Unplugged version. Two of my favorite bands for sure. I could ramble forever about this and more or less have already! 😂
What Dinosaur jr? I was obsessed with them in the 90s and would sport a " j mascis is GOD " shirt much to the confusion of family and small town locals. The Green Mind LP and the EP were of my go-to's.
“you gotta lose your way to find it, you think can't, but you will” man this EP change my life completely, when things go wrong i always come here to listen that. eternally grateful with mark and the trees, rest in power mark
It was SST at one time, and probably would have remained that way if Greg Ginn wasn't a giant douchebag. The Screaming Trees spread the love though by having releases on both SST and Sub Pop.
Acid Punks.the guitar on flashes makes me insane. One hell of a screamin tree.who or what Chaskon might be, i love the screaming trees, so i love u, thanx for uploadin
Mark Lanegan é um dos meus vocalistas preferidos, na carreira solo dele tem mostrado toda a sua genialidade ao conseguir extrair o melhor da sua voz rouca
What's interesting about this EP, in addition to being all killer and no filler, is that it has two different producers on it, but it doesn't sound like it. That's notable because they used the same two producers, Jack Endino (who produced "Change Has Come" and "Days") and Steve Fisk (who produced "Flashes", "Time Speaks Her Golden Tongue", and "I've Seen You Before") on all of their previous records, which DID sound different than one another. Fisk produced their debut EP (Other Worlds) and first three albums (Clairvoyance, Even If and Especially When, and Invisible Lantern), while Endino produced their 4th album, Buzz Factory, which had a punchier sound than their previous releases IMO. I'm still thinking about you Mark and your Screaming Trees bandmates a month after your passing. You are missed. RIP Mark Lanegan.
The Connor Bros are amazing and Lane gans voice is deep and powerful but Drummer Mark Pickeral is the unsung member with is steady and strong percussion.. Gives another layer to the Trees.
yes, thanx for sharin this pearl.the o conners are so incredible together. god knows sinc how long they are jammin together.the poor neighbourhood!rare SUBPOP stuff
I think Garry is an incredible guitar player and songwriter. I don't know why he didn't form or join another band, when the Trees broke up. I've heard they didn't make a lot of money and that he had to get a paper route to support his family.
ive had this for donkeys, i remember ringing up the distributor to get a few copies of this back in 91 or something. none of this stuff was available really, tower records was your best bet in london at the time, HMV sometimes on oxford street.point being, the good shit is never on the surface its buried in the mire! :)))))
The cover of this LP look's truely good. I think is typical SubPop style!! Isn't it? But I'm sure, Charles Peterson was the man,who made the Photo on the Frontside!
One of the greatest rock bands of all time! Nirvana was more famous, and while I love them too, The Trees are the Northwest's best!
Couldn’t agree more
Way more prolific!

RIP Mark, listening to one of your gems.
My sister came home from MA in 1992 with a tape, the A side was Dinosaur JR, the B was Screaming Trees, that tape changed my fucking life. RIP Mark
What Dinosaur jr? I was obsessed with them in the 90s and would sport a " j mascis is GOD " shirt much to the confusion of family and small town locals. The Green Mind LP and the EP were of my go-to's.
Screaming trees until my last day on planet earth❤🎸💪
Absolute masterpiece, Time Speaks her Golden Tongue I can play on repeat forever
“you gotta lose your way to find it, you think can't, but you will” man this EP change my life completely, when things go wrong i always come here to listen that. eternally grateful with mark and the trees, rest in power mark
Read this right as he said that part haha. Those machine gun drums and killer bass at the end of "Days" man, oof
My favorite Screaming Trees album... have been listening to this since 93... already missing the man
This stuff right here is probably some of the best they came up with during the 80's. Can't wait to read Lanegan's book.
RIP Van. Now you are heading towards Other Worlds ..... 😞
The fact that this isn't in spotify is just criminal hahaha Amazing EP
What's even more criminal is that it is entirely out of print and is not available even for digital download.
@@chipmillard5043unless you have a vinyl 😉
Sub Pop probably the greatest indie label ever
It was SST at one time, and probably would have remained that way if Greg Ginn wasn't a giant douchebag.

Time speaks ..
tears run down my face about all those memories
One of their best and most underrated songs...

You are not wrong about Flashes.
Best grunge band. No contest.
Damn. This really takes me back to when I was a teen in the early ‘90s and had this EP on vinyl. During the first wave of vinyl resurgence.
this recording really captures the live power chaos their shows leant toward punch till you fall down kicking your legs
Mark Lanegan é um dos meus vocalistas preferidos, na carreira solo dele tem mostrado toda a sua genialidade ao conseguir extrair o melhor da sua voz rouca
Never knew about this.EXCELLENT!!!! Thankx so much for the upload share.
RIP Mark.

Great stuff, man... Maybe my favorite record of them, even if its ''just'' a e.p. ...
Man this one slams really hard. I wish it was more easily available.
One of my fav eps ever. Probably the second screaming trees album i got. Had to go to fye or wherever and order that special in the eeeearly 2000s.

Gary did a solo project, The Purple Outside was the band And Mystery Lane is the album. It’s really great.. has the sound of this EP. Check it out
garry's been releasing albums for years, still making music! and releases lots of old trees footage on youtube as well.
Best thing they ever released

You’re right on both actually, I have the cd and it credits Charles for photography and has the sub pop logo on the back
