The vocalist is Annibale Giannarelli, an Italian-born Australian singer, and I don't know their accent. Here though (ruclips.net/video/g9w6xehhwqs/видео.html) he seems to say "Tired". Btw Micalizzi wrote only the music. The lyrics were from Lally Stott, an Englishman from Liverpool that had a discreet success in Italy in those years because he was the lyricist of a Scottish group, Middle of the Road. Alas, he died aged 34 in his hometown because of a vehicle accident.
