A foreigner visiting any country should be making a conscious effort to assimilate to the culture. The host nation isn't obligated to grant access to every guest that wants to visit. If you are let in, the least you could do is try to blend in and avoid disturbing the locals.

I think that is obvious. Respect is important anywhere. But what this intelligent older gentleman is saying is that people in his community shouldn't get worked up over things that 1. Aren't illegal and 2. Don't effect others remotely.
