  • Setting of the twenty-third psalm, recorded live at Canongate Church, Edinburgh, in 1996. Helen Brough (female lead vocal), David Mitchell (male lead vocal and guitar), Suzanne Adam (verse 2 harmony vocal and violin), Sandy Nicholson (recorder). From the album 'Psalms'. www.brightmorningstar.org.
    The Lord's my shepherd-I shall lack nothing;
    He pastures me where the peaceful waters flow.
    And when I am weary, my soul he restores in me;
    He, always the same, guides me in goodness, all for his name.
    The Lord's my shepherd-alone through dry land,
    He leads my soul where living waters flow.
    The Lord's my shepherd-in death's dark valley
    I fear no evil for you are by my side.
    Your rod will support me, your staff it will comfort me;
    So, till shadows flee, lead through the darkness calling to me.
    The Lord's my shepherd-in this dark valley
    His rod and staff still they comfort me.
    The Lord's my shepherd-he spreads before me
    A table set where my enemy can see.
    My head he anointed, oil he poured upon my head;
    My cup overflows; love will surround me wherever I go.
    The Lord's my shepherd-he sought and found me,
    And I will dwell in his house evermore.

      @@BrightMorningStar I’d love to but my singing is like two tomcats about to fight. 😹 But I so appreciate lovely music and this is that!
      I am going to buy your book on the Psalter and then the one on Jesus. Your blog is wonderful. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and talent. ✝❤🙏🏻

    Last year, I arranged this Psalm in the Ashkenazi trope for Scrolls!
    It's nice to hear someone else's attempt to compose it. It's not too different, really.
