Lmao I did record using an older version of the 40 volt self propelled one for my buddy and my back yard was weed infested like 4’ tall weeks it took 3 5ah batteries and prolly dulled my blade but it cut down for real 4 foot tall weeds’ I’d anyones on the fence some ryobi tools are sketch but the mowers are legit!
Get the self propelled I promise you’ll never go back to a “push one”
Serious note though I have tried everything n the world to kill those weeds’ fire vinegar salt $50 a bottle chemicals took 4 bottles to do front and back yard
      Tried the weed preen
I even did tilling the soil and had a skid steer come harley rake those bastards grow back bigger and thicker year after year’
Guessing when house was built soil was shit on year 4 now I’ve given up and accepted I have weeds and only weeds’ 🤣😂
I’ve searched videos for 2 years followed the apply stuff in fall if anyone has any tips at this point I’m all ears
When I say I tried everything jesus I mean I have tried EVERYTHING! They won’t die!

I just got one of these last night, got to first try it out today. The side of the deck is rock solid with reinforcement, no way tree's going to make that thing budge if it hits it. And the self-propelled mechanism goes as soon as I hit them thumb paddles. Maybe they've updated it since. Things awesome I love it.

I have the single blade version and love it. Run time is great. Cuts very well. I’ve never had an issue with the deck flexing. It’s a reinforced deck that’s double walled on the sides. Very sturdy.

Correction: there is no safety shut off when you lift the front wheels. My hands were just releasing from the grip enough to turn off the blades. I am happy to say I’m still mowing with it and no issues yet!

I'll probably be picking this one up today. Solid review man. The front wheel lift safety shut off seems like it might be annoying...but I'm sure it's easy enough to disable/bypass. I imagine it's just a simple switch somewhere in the mechanism that opens the circuit when there's no pressure on the front wheels. If so, a paperclip jumper or bit of speaker wire should do the trick. (* I AM NOT SUGGESTING ANYONE READING SHOULD DO THIS THEMSELVES, ONLY THAT I MAY PERSONALLY TRY* )

  • @cahg3871
    @cahg3871 2 года назад +4

Considering how thick your lawn is and the amount of yardage, that mower did well. The charger would be better served with simultaneous dual charging ports, but you can’t have everything. But that safety feature that turns the blades off every time you lifted the front off the ground would be annoying.Good review.

Great review. I’m trying to decide between the Ryobi & Ego. Right now I’m leaning more towards the Ryobi - mostly because of the batteries. Home Depot always has them in stock, where as there’s barley any Egos in stock in my whole city. From what I read from other reviews eventually the batteries will get you down the road & it sounds like Home Depot stands behind their batteries & swap-out is pretty seamless.

  • @mr.breadNwater

Great review. I like how you mentioned the deck is a bit flexible and the lag time for the self propelled paddle. I haven't heard anyone else's review mention the safety shut off when lifting the front wheels, I think we all do this growing up using gas mowers. The safety shut off and deck flex could be deal breakers for me, I'm ready to buy a new mower but might stick with gas for now.

@@xsixinfantryx I opted to try the Ryobi cross cut mower, wise decision. I've used it now about 5 times and I can honestly say it was well worth the price. Battery life is a non issue, pretty quiet and I finally have a mower that throws all the clippings in the bag until it's full! With some of my past Craftsman mowers, I was lucky if I got half a bag before all the clippings would be left on my sidewalk and driveway.

@@mr.breadNwater yeah I just got this one the other day. The weather hasn't been great though so I haven't really gotten to use it. I did take a couple strips in the front yard with it though just out of excitement lol (I must be getting old). And it seems like mine as soon as I push on the paddles it goes. And I checked out the deck and it seems reinforced under there I mean it's solid as a rock I can't see a tree budging that (like he was saying in his review). But yeah I'm looking forward to actually being able to cut my grass with it once this weather breaks it's less than 40° out right now. I have a feeling I'll love it. My first mower 😆

I've watched several reviews on Ryobi mowers and I noticed that no one talks about how the mower mulches. most cover bagging and side discharge, but the only reviewer I saw who covered mulching didn't show it mulching just mentioned it doesn't do a great job of mulching. I only bag in the fall when the leafs are falling so something that can't do a good job mulching isn't going to work for me.

I mow for a living, that mower is beast mode and gets the job done. Please tell me you discharged the battery before you charged them? They will last TONS longer once you've done that and of course it will take a few mows to get maximum strength of the Li-on batteries. Also that plastic is actually very strong and if you look at the bottom it's cross reinforced. I've ran into bricks, fallen tree branches and cement, that sucker will hold no problem. Hitting a tree(for whatever reason you would) wouldn't hurt it. I personally like the non self-propelled as it makes no difference to me but yea you a tad picky lol I'm playin... Overall man yea this beat mode mulches better than the toro big boy commercial mowers. It's living up to it's name. I'm sure you've got an updated video on it or something but man I love mine. I can run with it on high grass and it simply cuts like it was never there. How has it been working for you since 21'?

So far I’ve only used it once. I think we have the exact same model. My yard is also fairly small so very capable for my needs. The plus for me is no more gas or changing spark plugs or dirty carburetor. I don’t think this even has a filter you need to change. My only complaint so far (again I’ve only used once) is that your hands get tired holding the lever to keep the dang thing going. I wish they would have provided some kind of latch for people who are not stupid enough to put there hands in to the spinning blades. Call it the smart version and stupid versions. Lol 😂
