I never thought that I would listen to a Jazz song all the day long, repeating all over again and again. Thanks Lady Gaga, for bringing such good music to all of our lives.
People saying Lady Gaga's a flop when in reality instead of being a harlot on stage with autotune , she's showing us her true talent through jazz without back up singers, auto tune, and rappers to promote her.
Major props for Gaga for not being a slave to any specific genre and just simply making music she feels like. This is what true musicianship should be. Anyone who still cares about charts and sales need to flock to elsewhere and make space for true fans who appreciate raw talent/music. Gaga you have my support.
gaga is touring the world, traveling and meeting her fans, enjoying life and doing what she loves. yet the people here hating on her are just being bitter fucks and most likely not doing much with their lives. lol. learn to live and have fun guys!
I have to admit that I would never listen to jazz if Lady Gaga didn't make this album, and that's why I think she's currently the most important artist. This was the only way I could realise how beautiful and elegant this type of music actually is!
This album is not important because it's the 'best jazz album ever', but because Lady Gaga's chosen to bring jazz back up to a world that's losing interest in it. Jazz was and still is a main influence in any kind of art form. So to me this is another way of introducing art into pop ;)
Gaga is always 5 steps ahead of everyone. The general population will eventually grow tired of edm, and resort back to the real grass roots of music-- everything is cyclical! I can see it, in a couple years, there's going to be an influx of great singers who just play the guitar and that's it. The electronic sounds will be replaced with actual instruments, and Gaga will have already "been there and done that." :)
OoMASEoO that, or someone comes up with something completely new and unknown and awesome. But yeah, overall I agree with you! As always, it will take a long time for people to realise what Gaga's done for art and the revolution she's started.
+somivlogs This particular song from 1947 era is important because it's one of the best renditions all the way to possibly the very last inclusion of the great Paul Horn's instrumental solo.
People complain about not hearing her "voice" in her traditional pop music, but when she puts out music like this people are so used to putting her down that they just resist actually listening to her, and completely miss that she can indeed sing. The woman has extreme talent. She's way beyond any modern artist when it comes to vocals.
I remember how I hated the idea of a Jazz album, but when this song came out, I was really surprised because hearing this Gaga's vocals soo relaxed, very warm, very peacefully, gave me life, I am really in love with this song always. I wish this song would have had a video
There was a boy A very strange enchanted boy They say he wandered very far, very far Over land and sea A little shy and sad of eye But very wise was he And then one day A magic day he passed my way And while we spoke of many things Fools and kings This he said to me The greatest thing you'll ever learn Is just to love and be loved in return And then one day A magic day he passed my way And while we spoke of many things Fools and kings This he said to me The greatest thing you'll ever learn Is just to love and be loved in return
I never really liked Lady Gaga's music. BUT, since she started singing with Tony Bennett she has shown us just how much talent she has. Now I see her as one of the better singer of our time. I hope she keep's it up.
Such a beautiful and classic song, and they do it much justice with this cover. For those who don't know, the song was first recorded by Nat King Cole and released in 1948.
Before it was recorded by Nat King Cole, it was in the soundtrack to the movie "The Boy with Green Hair" a film that came out very soon after WWII - in some ways an anti-war movie, at least one which stressed that war always hurts children.
There was a boy A very strange, enchanted boy They say he wandered very far Very far, over land and sea A little shy and sad of eye But very wise was he And then one day One magic day he passed my way While we spoke of many things Fools and Kings This he said to me: "The greatest thing you'll ever learn Is just to love and be loved in return" "The greatest thing you'll ever learn Is just to love and be loved in return" [Instrumental Interlude] "The greatest thing you'll ever learn Is just to love and be loved in return"
This makes me so happy. This song is such a classic that has always been a favorite of mine and it brightens my mood to hear one of my favorite artists sing it so beautifully. I do love her old style but I don't believe that was what defined Lady Gaga as a musician. Her perfect, thoughtful execution of great sounds both raw and electronically edited is what I feel made her. She has remained a rare talent with so much emotion to convey in her work. I think her recent rekindling of happiness and enthusiasm for singing will definitely pay off for both her audience as well as her career.
There was a boy A very strange enchanted boy They say he wandered very far, very far Over land and sea A little shy and sad of eye But very wise was he And then one day A magic day he passed my way And while we spoke of many things Fools and kings This he said to me The greatest thing you'll ever learn Is just to love and be loved in return And then one day, one magic day he passed my way And while we spoke of many things Fools and kings This he said to me The greatest thing you'll ever learn Is just to love and be loved in return

let's all take a moment of silence for those who don't feel this music. I know it's not for everybody's ears. pop is easier to listen to right? that's why I'm proud gaga is brave to make this project with tony. I actually enjoy gaga singing jazz these days, it's enchanting
I don't care what people say, Lady Gaga is a true performer/singer. There is no doubt she has an amazing voice and knows how to use it. You never let me down, Mother Monster!
Back to when C2C was released, most of Gaga's fans were teens; so I understand them being upset about a jazz album. Paul Horn's flute solo on this Nature Boy is a masterpiece of taste and understatement. He never got his fair due as a flute player but he is in the pantheon of the best. Thanks Paul Horn!
I just learned about the author of this song, George Alexander Aberle, also known as eden ahbez, He was orphaned young, moved around a lot, camped out in a cave under the "L" in the HOLLYWOOD sign for a while. He gave this song to Nat King Cole, but it's been recorded by many artists. Ahbez wrote other songs for Bertram International Records between 1958-64-“Jungle Bungalow,” “Surfer John,” and “John John,” plus a few unreleased recordings titled “Umgowah,” “Gunny Sack,” and “Love Ye”-but “Yes Master!” remains the crowning achievement.
"The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love & be loved in return." My first Popular-Singing lesson & favorite song of all times now by Tony+Gaga!!
This is one of those songs that transports you to another place. So melancholic but so beautiful at the same time, they both did a great job. My favorite one from Cheek to Cheek.
Dear haters of gaga or people who don't appreciate anything but pop garbage, If you think it is so bad, then don't watch it or leave hate for. How is leaving hate going to help anyone? How does hating people that have talent make you look?
"The greatest thing you'll ever learn it's just to love and be loved in return" One of my favourite song... Love it so mucho, Gaga! You Rock! and yes, you too Tony Bennett!
I love the way Tony influences her voice. Gaga was made for this. Im so gonna love this album. it takes you to a different place, a different era and that is the very essence of enjoying music.
IT'S JUST MUSIC, YOU DON'T HAVE TO HATE, JUST NEED TO LISTEN AND ENJOY. Oh god where's the respect. Many, many unnecessary comments. Where's the love? :)
I love haters. They're the best type of fans because they waste their time hating on someone that they don't like & will be successful no matter how much shit they talk. Realize that.
This is so perfect, I just can't. Cheek to Cheek must be one of her best albums so far! I love how she's doing what she wants and not caring about anything.
If you're calling this music a flop, you're technically calling Nat King Cole a flop. He made this music back in 1948 and was considered a huge hit. Gaga is doing many cover music of famous jazz singers like Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole and Cole Porter. They made jazz into something classy and fun. For Gaga and Tony to sing jazz, they're considered classy, fun and talented people in my opinion :)
I hate all these comments saying kids dont enjoy this music or don't have an open mind enough to enjoy it at all. Just because music is different now does not mean we do not respect and love other music genres. And I'm sure her "young gaga fans" who are used to her mainstream sound love seeing her creativity and flourishing in what she loves to show us. I am young but that doesnt matter. You might be older, still don't matter. This music is timeless. I LOVE YOU LADY GAGA!!!
These singers are legends and people just come on here with no musical sense to just troll... If this isn't your taste, go and listen to whatever floats your boat, but give these artists some respect please
I love to see people with instruments in their pic on these videos... it means they really know music and they're fans :) I think anyone with any sort of musicality in their lives appreciate Gaga. I've been in chorus classes and jazz band and orchestra and theatre, and I feel like we're the ones who really know how hard her plight has been and appreciate her artistry!
Good God, so beautiful. Have you ever heard a voice as ethereal as that of the great Lady Gaga? She is such an amazing artist. There is no one like her.
Why is everyone hating on this? It just shows how versatile she is. I love her original work, and I think it's amazing that she is making an album of some jazz standards.
I'm absolutely loving this whole jazz direction Gaga has taken! Yes I'm a fan of her original stuff but I've always loved jazz as well and even more now that my favourite artist is singing it! Cheek to Cheek is such a good record already!
I love how every cover of this song has its own spin on Nat King Cole's original. NKC's was melancholic, David Bowie's was slow and epic, Toni's was room-enchanting stillness, this is like a smoky-jazz bar feel :3
There was a boy... A very strange enchanted boy. They say he wandered very far, very far Over land and sea, A little shy and sad of eye But very wise was heee. ♥
Reading through these comments, I realise that anyone who has hateful comments doesn't understand jazz and usually compares it to current pop music. They are two very different genres so I urge you to separate your idea of Lady Gaga as a current pop performer and appreciate her work with classical pop vocal music. She is doing marvellously with this material, as it takes a very talented performer to achieve the standard she has already achieved through listening to the three singles from the album. I personally believe this song is absolutely beautiful, and I hope you can all come to enjoy this and all of "Cheek To Cheek."
Sempre que ouço essa música, me transmite uma sensação de que ela vem sempre, envolta em uma brisa de pura magia. Ainda mais com essa maravilhosa interpretação.. É pura magia!
I think those departed classical, jazz, rock and other genre artist sure is happy for this cheek to cheek album and Gaga ... only Gaga can take her music to other level pak!!
Beautiful, haunting, and completely addictive. Gaga, I'm so happy you're sharing this side of you with your grateful fans. I simply can't wait to hear it all on Tuesday. Thank you!
You're calling this a "flop" as if there is a chance of it actually becoming hit. This album won't top Hot 100 and become a huge success because it's 2014. It's pretty obvious actually BUT you cannot deny the fact that people who enjoy such music will find this enjoyable. Because it's so beautiful the way Gaga sings, her voice is majestic. katy could never live up to Gaga vocally or artistically. She might have more numbers #1s but despite that Gaga has more money, more awards, and has actually Grammys and she's fucking enjoyable to watch.
Jazz is good music. Yes it is slow and peaceful. No, it's not huge beats and very energetic songs like we're used to. No, it's not a hipster beat like Lorde, or others. But yes, it is good music, very chilled and pleasant. For years, I've hoped for jazz bands to come back, I've looked for a good piano bar. I'm so excited for this album. After all, this is Gaga's first career. This is how she started before she became famous.
Lady Gaga is such a fucking treasure, easily one of the greatest artists of our time. Amazing that Tony Bennett also did a jazz song with Amy Winehouse that made me say the same of her.
I like Lady GaGa since she released Just Dance. But her collaboration with Bennett really makes me like her even more and makes me like him too. We are surrounded with the music of today, and for me, I need a break from it. This single gives me the old fashion classic music that relaxes me. We really need some old-school stuff to refresh our minds, and I wanna thank GaGa and Tony for it. And for those who think this sucks, don't just hate. Respect the classics instead.
I never thought that I would listen to a Jazz song all the day long, repeating all over again and again. Thanks Lady Gaga, for bringing such good music to all of our lives.
Wait until you hear Lush Life! OMG it's sooooo good!
same here.. extremely great artists.. :-)
Lush Life + Nature Boy = Beautiful Night
And thank Tony!
I need to say the same. Thanks Gaga for your voice, for your art. Love U

I will play this song every day at my WINE STORE, this is so relaxing.

Good!!

Where r u living ? I might come to ur store boo
This is amazing. Lady Gaga is just another level of superstar. I'm glad Tony saw a huge potential in her, they are magical together.
She's got the best voice for this, very light and flirty with the notes and warm. And thank you to Tony Bennett to keep her holding on to her passion
A year has passed and I'm still loving this song. It's so relaxing and soft, you can feel the message, the music, the instrumental, the voices.
+Raul Oliveira I'm happy she has changed

it's gonna be so good. this album is LEAKING talent and artistry.
OH MY GOSH Look at this song, is so perfect
I thought Gaga was merely an empty-headed pop artist... I'm very glad to have found out that I was wrong. She has a great voice for this genre.
I grew up listening to Jazz in my Grandparents house and I'm so happy that lady Gaga is making this album with Tony Bennett this is perfection.
she can LITERALLY sing anything , if this album gets famous others will start trying jazz :D
Sempre que ouço essa música, me transmite uma sensação de que ela vem sempre, envolta em uma brisa de pura magia.
Ainda mais com essa maravilhosa interpretação..
É pura magia!
Wow, this is truly great, Lady Gaga has a great voice for Jazz.
Thank you!
When haters keep making senseless comments, monsters, just ignore them. Downvote them into eternity and leave them to their filth.
How do I get this comment to the top of my page, instead of a hater comment?! ;-) Every single fan needs to +1 this!
OoMASEoO i love haters comments don't you?
My favorite song of the album. It's so beautiful !
She slays any genre!
Queen of Music!
Beautiful song, beautiful harmonies, beautiful arrangement. May become my fav from Cheek to Cheek. Here comes another Grammy for Bennett and Gaga.
Honestly, I don't think I have ever heard this much Jazz in my life. Thank you Lady Gaga for giving me something to listen to for once.
Amazing melody! I can't wait for their new album!!!!
The Greatest performance from lady Gaga and Tony Bennett
Thank you !
Food for the soul!
Transport me to unexplored corners of my hearth and soul !
Lady Gaga is such a fucking treasure, easily one of the greatest artists of our time. Amazing that Tony Bennett also did a jazz song with Amy Winehouse that made me say the same of her.
Never been a fan of Lady Gaga although I like some of her songs but God, this is amazing !
