- Live premiere of Floor's M83 cover Oblivion. It didn't make it into the setlist last year and I had lost hope to ever hear it live, but to everyone's surprise Floor sang it at Paaspop 🥳
Floor in Tampere, Buenos Aires, Amsterdam or Paaspop……I watch and she never disappoints me.

I’d agree with that for all songs besides this one. As a guitarist, there’s much missing from the original, much more tamed down.

I don't see why not, both Floor and the other musicians make more money with her doing those covers. Besides that, the audience usually gets to hear a better version.

Depends I'd say. Floor usually does more than justice to the songs she covers, lifting them to a different level. So, I could imagine that some songwriters actually feel positive about those covers, like a distinction. For instance, Floor's Shallow cover raises so many emotions which can equally be credited to Floor's vocal talent and Lady Gaga's/Mark Ronson's songwriting.
@@davidepastore765 I attended a Nightwish concert last week and it was an outstanding experience. Everything is top level, starting from the show to the quality of musicians and of course the amazing voice of Floor. It was a long awaited concert and it was as great as expected.
In this year, aside from Nightwish, I also went to 2 other gigs (I don't take festivals into account).
Those 2 artists that I was pleased to watch were Eivør and .... Susanne Sundfør. Both of them have wonderful voice.
If I was asked about my favorite show between those 3 concerts, I couldn't answer, because there were exceptionally good, but so different from each other, different atmospheres.
If you asked me which singer impressed me the less, the answer would be more obvious to me, it's 100% Floor Jansen. Not because she is not impressive, it's quite the opposite, but because the 2 other are vocally even more impressive.
This is not a fact, these are only my feelings and taste.
The point is that it's not because Floor is a phenomenal singer that she is alone on this planet and we should disregard other amazing talents. And no, she doesn't do everything better than anyone else.
Regarding this specific song 'Oblivion', Floor and Susanne chose different ways to sing it. Susanne did a more emotional interpretation of the song matching to the lyrics, while Floor chose a more powerful rendition. Both versions work.
But I disagree when you say that no one will listen to the original again. In my opinion, the live version of Susanne is superior to the Floor live version. Because from the artistic choice she did, everything Susanne did is perfection and she achieved her goal 100%.
If you listen carefully to Floor's version, you can hear that her softs are insecure and shaky. She is slightly out of tune here and there, so I would say that she achieved 80% of her goal.
But whatever the version each of us prefer, I still find it weird to think that we should stick to only one artist pretending that she does everything better and deprive oneself from so many great songs and performances. I couldn't recommend you enough to check Susanne Sundfør's work. Each song from any album of hers is a piece of art.
