The 'detune' is actually what 'unison' is in synthesizers. Another side note: the tracking is fast on these devices, simply because there is no actual tracking. It just takes the original signal and reproduces it at a fixed conversion (twice the frequency for octave up for instance). It's with pedals that actually harmonize based on a given note (dialed in or sometimes even via audio-in) that actual tracking takes place. But, these reviews are some of the best on the net, as we can all concur.
How does the Whammy DT Droptune function fare against the Digitech DT standalone pedal? Really want an up to date, reliable DTuner, but i also want Whammy so if i need both then cool. just need to know if the standalone DT pedal is better or not than the DT function on the Whammy DT. Cheers!
The whammy DT has more possibilities than the Digitech DT standalone pedal. With the standalone pedal you can tune down with one click on the pedal, but with the whammy you can aslo change your tunig ( and drop that down of course).
Thanks for your quick response, my main concern is the quality of chords in C# (down 4 semitones) in standard tuning and how they compare. I'd expect the DT standalone pedal to perhaps be better than the Whammy for this specific comparison since it came out a few years later? Just curious if you know or could test this please? Many thanks guys!
Hello sir! Thank you for this video! One quick question! Is it possible tu use the octaver effect while beign de-tuned ? For instance if I would like to cover Slash's Paradise City solo, using the pedal to be tuned 1/2 step down AND activate the octaver effect, still of course being tuned 1/2 step down!
Harry, I really love your demos. You thoroughly and understandably describe the products in a concise manner without being boring. What pickups are you running in that Yamaha Pacifica? They sound fantastic!
I recently purchased a Whammy DT. It's working fine, except for a big loss of volume, relative to the true bypass condition, and other conditions (when applying the effects). In DSP mode the volume drops a lot. Is it a problem with my unit or is it something common with the equipment? I really need guidance because I can't find explanations on the internet. Sincerely,
Just got one of these today and it's really cool. I am getting some weird fluctuations when I hold a given chord and let it ring for a while when the drop tune feature is active. Anyone else had this happen and figured out the cause? I'm running active EMG pickups.
hello Bax shop, I like to see all your videos but I have a question... what kind of distiortion are you using in this video?...it sounds so powerfull..
Glad I YT'd this video. Would have loved to see the extra foot switch pedal being used for the hands free but I'll do a search for that one. Another thing is I like the distortion effect but I'm wondering how this would sound with a Auto-Wah inline before this pedal. I believe Jimmy Page uses this with his Auto-Wah on both Ramble On & Kashmir. One of the many reasons I'm buying this pedal because of the added effects that would give songs a little fill now & then during the different riffs.....
A question, does this use the classic/glitchy sound? (Because it has no switch to turn it on) Or does it use the chords version? If it uses the classic, I'm gonna buy it, if not, then I still don't know
I have an Electro Harmonix Pitch Fork and some questions came to my mind: 1) Can it go triple octave? 2) My pedal has a blend knob in which I can select the percentage of dry and wet signal I want. Does this one have that too?
+Wadsmitter no, the literal definition is to lower the lowest string in relation to the others, that's the point of drop tuning (compared to down tuning which is what you probably mean)
Mickaël Holladay The dry signal is just the sound thats going from your guitar to the cable attached. Wet signal is the sound processed with effects and stuff. :)
At drop tuning side, Using 9-42 strings, can this pedal track every note and chord? I've heard that you need enough tension in string for this pedal to track notes properly
only thing i am missing on these pitch pedals is use of alternate tunings, only pedal i saw it on untill now is Roland GR55 but that's a little too expensive for my blood. besides that whammy is the best
I wonder if their new Drop pedal has kinda newer and better pitch-shifting algorithm (in terms of drop tuning) or is it the same as this pedal has. Cause this one was released several years ago
+Anti Phase like and outboard processor? Didn't think of that. My thing i want decent tracking down to C# especiappy with chords.. but i've always wanted the Whammy, so just trying to weigh it all up haha
ktmad I have had Mooer PitchBox, Mooer SuperBender and EhX Slammi, all of them used for pitch shifting down to D and B standards. Well, Slammi was pretty much Ok, but inconvenient in changing settings. Right now I`m planning getting a guitar with extended range and wanna having a small auxiliary processor with pitch shifter and some other effects in case smth will go wrong and I`ll have to play regular guitars). Whammy DT is too big for my pedalboard, Digitech drop doesn`t have all the functions I need from pitch shifter.
Looks like some cool options but those Octave Ups have a generic tone to them as opposed to actually moving your hand & playing the octave up & hearing the tru guitar tone. Not saying its bad, just for my ears the tone sounds generic, almost carnival music sorta.
I used to have an HM2 which did exactly what I wanted but they quit carrying it. I can't stand the sound this pedal makes with that expression pedal. Bending the notes like that makes it sound so fake.

So a chorus, basically.
@@iwannabeadored69420 nope try again bro bro
Unison van synthesizers is een stack van de noten polyfonie maar daar door hoor je nog geen detuning van de voices .
This is my favorite pedal ever. It sounds great with my band. I also love the sound of one of the choruses
Which one? Shallow or Deep?
Seen a few demos by this guy on various products, great player and his demos never disappoint.
when this guy started talking i laughed my ass off cause hee seemed so soft spoken aftet playing those low riffs
Best review I've seen on this. I want one.
very good "tester"... everything he tests, we buy. :)
Refreshing to see someone demo this that actually understands how to use it! Thanks 👍👍 Fantastic Pedal & Demo.... Thanks Bax
Harry is THE dude to watch to see what a device Can Do!
Thank you for this superb testing Video. This is not just like a great demo but you are also a great guitar Player. More of this please

ktmad, I have this pedal and I notice when drop tunning there's too much latency involved , you don't get a fully clean drop tune.
@@chopshop777 stop the cap Mehrzad
@@harls7317 sorry, stop the cap ?
I admire your knowledge of the jazz scale modes. It's great to see such expertise at something I love :D

he tells you @ 2:00....SD P90 & Custom 5
great demo, thanks. huge footprint, but does a lot.
That's a sweet Yamaah you have there.

great pedal!
what kind of distortion r you using for this vid? it's massive!
Hes using the axe fx II
Axe Fx II Friedman BE
Couldn't you do the drop tune function using the regular whammy pedal?
what are u suing for the distortion??? i like the tone of the distortion....

Hello, I don't understand very well, the shift down get drops (drop a,b ,c etc) but what do you get with the shift up ?
I have an Electro Harmonix Pitch Fork and some questions came to my mind:
1) Can it go triple octave?
2) My pedal has a blend knob in which I can select the percentage of dry and wet signal I want. Does this one have that too?
good review and great playing
We love to hear it, thanks! :)
so....your guitar can be in standard tuning, and this will change it to drop tuning?
Bobby59 no :D
Wadsmitter no it won't, you should probably google what drop tuning means and/or what a whammy does ;)
+Wadsmitter yeah, but you obviously don't know what drop-tuning means ;) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_guitar_tunings#Dropped
+Wadsmitter no, the literal definition is to lower the lowest string in relation to the others, that's the point of drop tuning (compared to down tuning which is what you probably mean)
The god damn pedal calls the feature drop tune and it doesn't just drop your lowest string so take your definition and shove it.
Came here for the pedal --- Stayed for the facial expressions.
How do you change battery
Just want him on in the background playing constantly. Who is he? Would like to hear some stuff that isn't gear demos also.
amazing! and you play very cool!

Is the pedal very stiff? Or can you move it really fast up and down?
+Intra Limpidus You can move it up and down pretty fast if you want
Detune is basically chorus
Nope, try again

Is that Paul Rudd with blond hair?
Can you have octave above and below at the same time? Like what a POG does
Can you send your question to helpdesk@bax-shop.nl ?
Does it serve for electric bass?
I just want to lower and raise the tone without adding distortion?
Would this pedal help me? can anybody help me
It should. I don’t really know. I’ll get back later today
Also, btw I’ll be using the standard whammy not the fancy one
Ok. I tested it and it works. It sounds weird tho so you might want to try it first.
Love this guy
