Also, once you have filled it to the volume you need, there should still be some solid dry ice left, so the solution will be saturated. As for that MythBusters episode with the salami as fuel...If they had a more concentrated heat source with a better way of directing that heat to a concentrated flame...and had a way to semi heat that Salami so the oils would produce gasses, I think they might have succeeded.
I thought they needed to meter out the nitrous more slowly since it exploded any time the salami actually ignited. Fortunately, they are too smart to listen to me😉
Lab flames have a habit of spreading - hope you get your lab back together soon. I had an ether fire in my fume hood (yes, I was using a flame-proof ceramic heater) and I didn't notice it until all the hairs on my arms started vapourising. The real fun started when I tried to smother the fire with a fire blanket and ended up wafting burning ether onto the floor - I didn't know I had done this, though, until my lab partners started jumping around with their legs on fire. By this point, the ether burned out, and I was super grateful I had remembered to put the lid on the winchester of ether.

17:43 Lol you bought it from Sigma-Aldritch. Can still see the label clear as day. Not hard to find the stuff just sorta google their site and search it up. The hard part is affording it. Sigma is quite proud of their chemicals. I was on there looking at their prices for castor oil, nitromethane, and methanol for purposes of brewing up my own model engine fuel and found that I'd end up making my own fuel for about 50-60 bucks a gallon whereas my hobby shop sells pre-mixed ready to use high quality fuel for 30 bucks a gallon 🤣🤣
I love your videos with your original voice. This video just threw me off. Hearing your voice made things more understanding to me. It is like a friend teaching me something.
@5:50 The Shuttle SRBs were destroyed ("exploded") by the Flight Termination System. They did not explode "on their own" due to some failure. What actually caused the the destruction of the STS, was burn-through from one of the SRBs, into the main propellant tanks -- which in turn caused structural failure of the entire STS as a system. The release of a huge amount of liquid oxygen & hydrogen ignited to conflagration, rather than detonation. It was drastic aerodynamic changes, that the Shuttle was not designed to withstand, which destroyed the vehicle. The rather macabre evidence for this fact, is that the Shuttle crew managed to change a number of flight parameters & electronic switches/settings *after* the disintegration of the Shuttle; some of the crew may have been alive for some time while tumbling back down towards the ocean; brain function likely ceased long before impact.
I'm sorry, the synthetic voiceover triggers my misphonia and makes this almost unwatchable for me. Maxim, please send notice if you ever return to using your real voice and i will come back to this fabulous channel. ✌️
The space shuttle Challenger accident was caused by hot combustion gases from the booster sneaking past a field joint and impinging on the support strut and the external tank leaving to catastrophic failure of the strut breaking and smashing into the external tank and rupturing it
One interesting thing that you didn't mention (I guess, with your lab being on fire, you had other things on your mind) is that the Apollo lunar module used nitrogen tetroxide and UMDH (I have no idea why it's sometimes called "heptyl" because, AFAICT, it doesn't contain seven of anything) as propellants, because they wanted the simplest possible system for landing on and taking off from the Moon. The fuel and oxidiser tanks were pressurised with helium gas so that the engines didn't need a turbopump, further reducing possible points of failure. Of course, the upshot of using these substances is that the engines corrode quite quickly. As far as I'm aware, the only times the descent or ascent engines were fired more than once were during Apollo 13, where the descent engine was used twice in place of the SPS, and Apollo 9, which was a thorough test of all the LM's systems in low-earth orbit.
the videos are so much more understandable with the new voice, i have an accent myself aswell so i understand how frustrating it can be but you make great content man
65 to 70 % is considered concentrated nitric acid. Anything above is considered fuming nitric acid. And yes, fuming nitric acid is an amazing oxidizer and burns a lot of organic compounds, depending on functional groups. Fun fact: It can't dissolve copper because of the formation of a passivation layer. But as soon as you dilute it a bit with water, it goes haywire 😅

Good luck ordering from Ligma Baldridge unless you're a business that deals with such things, school or governmental body of some kind.
Don't be nuisance
I love your videos with your original voice. This video just threw me off. Hearing your voice made things more understanding to me. It is like a friend teaching me something.
The only reason I want him to change his voice back now is to stop seeing all these comments on his videos 🤣
Didn’t his lab burn down recently? And this is what he’s doing now? 😂
Ah, I see. This is the “before” video
Yup.
I sent $50 hoping we would get more content, sooner.
Sadly the crappy synth voice is back too
Please go back to YOUR voice!
Imagine having to explain to the fire marshal that you were just burning some Heptyl.
Maybe you can make a fire extinguisher? Not a joke (maybe a little) I think the science behind them would be something cool to show.
Nah bro I unsubscribe 😢
Bro were is your voice? That AI garbage is really distracting.
Please go back to using your own voice. Your voice is so much better.
I'm sorry, the synthetic voiceover triggers my misphonia and makes this almost unwatchable for me.
Maxim, please send notice if you ever return to using your real voice and i will come back to this fabulous channel.
✌️
I legit thought I was listening to a different youtuber. Yes, I am one of the people who misses your old voice. Please bring it back. :(
Your unique and beautiful voice helped me to keep my attention to your videos. Now, I am not as interested in learning about chemistry
Please, for the love of god, stop dubbing your videos. We want to hear your voice, not someone elses.
You clearly don't read the comments on your video's, we don't like the Robo voice.
The space shuttle Challenger accident was caused by hot combustion gases from the booster sneaking past a field joint and impinging on the support strut and the external tank leaving to catastrophic failure of the strut breaking and smashing into the external tank and rupturing it
This channel is pure gold lmao
This voice over sucks. Where is the OG voice?
Please go back to your old voice. It's not funny anymore.
The DEXTERS LAB accent helps me digest my science 😢
PLS bring your amazing voice back😢😢❤
I don't like the voice over!!! Let's go back to using your voice!!!
I've never watched your channel before.
I agree with everyone else here, your voice is what we want.
Glad to see you're posting new videos. Hope all is well after the incident.
"We obtained a vicious substance"
I do believe that should be "viscous".
Wow, that was jarring. I was not expecting a clean American voiceover. It makes me sad not to hear the wonderful Belarusian accent I love.
English is universal and comes in every accent. We come here for you!
the videos are so much more understandable with the new voice, i have an accent myself aswell so i understand how frustrating it can be but you make great content man
65 to 70 % is considered concentrated nitric acid.
