I had the great good fortune to spend three or four early morning hours with Nick, playing liars dice in John Martyn’s flat in London, 1969. Nick was Nick. Quiet and reserved, and a killer deadpan expression. I don’t recall him being so tall. A magical time. John was no slouch either.

I wish Nick knew how much his music means to so many people.

At least he had the one show, supporting fairport convention, where he was respected and revered. I hope that brought him joy. He deserved so much more ❤️

Always loved his music. I think I he and I would've become friends if we'd met. I build and repair guitars in Vancouver. I have a primary heart tumor, and I'm declining treatment. See you all on the other side

The anecdote about John Cale's wild enthusiasm for Nick Drake's music is a tale I hadn't heard before and that was exciting to hear. I think it's been said by others in the past that Cale's album "Paris 1919" is very influenced by Nick. I believe that, too. Cale did different styles at different times, but that album is filled with more subdued, richly evocative and often melancholy songs that reflect the Nick Drake influence in many ways, though Cale's more dominant personality still comes through the Drake haze. Sadly, a great artist like Nick was buried under lesser talents and superficial trends then and even today remains more of a cult figure instead of the acknowledged musical genius that he was.

Thank you for producing this - I owe Pandora my gratitude for turning me on to Nick... life is better with Nick's music being a part of it.

I believe that even if Nick Drake had had the success, adulation and appreciation he so rightly deserved.
He would still be Nick Drake.
    Nothing would've changed.
Would he had not killed himself.....?
    Perhaps....?
    Perhaps not.
More importantly he gave us an insight into ourselves.
    Our humanity.
What it means to be human.
    What it is to suffer.
    That is his greatest gift.
And we are still, all still talking about him.
Now that surely is the true measure of success.

To me Nick was basically sn introvert who could only really express who he was through music, not through partying or playing sport or being part of the crowd. Not everybody is cut out for that kind of life but he still made his mark anyway cause' the music speaks for itself.

I have loved Nick Drakes poetry / music since I was 17. The track Five Leaves Left was his beginning and his end. So sad but beautiful 🦋

    Lovely documentary. Is there more?!
I vaguely remember Nick Drake from the 70s, but only really listened to his albums in last decade. I had some demos on SoundCloud and received a comment that I sounded like a female Nick Drake, which prompted me to go back and listen to his songs again!
Im currently reading Remembered For A While, which is brilliant, and a MUST read for fans of Nick
    R.I.P
Hope you're flying free of sadness and pain

Love the story, because of Nick Drake. But, it’s sad when others take credit for exploiting brilliance. For this person to be in such desperation and no one would listen...one cared except for what they could take from him? Those in charge (including parents) did it to Mozart and so many others.

I feel Nick Drake suffered social anxiety disorder, all the traits are there.

Yes I feel he suffered from this too. As I have an Anxiety disorder it mirrors everything that Nick was like and I can relate to him. locking yourself away from the world and reality is one of the symptoms.

"met with muted acclaim" isn't that just a perfect example of the cluelessness of the yey or nay sayers that gatekeep so many artists dreams
