from my experience with this tool it will drill out the bevel in the fitting making it flush. when the new pipe goes into the fitting it's not the same anymore and you may feel the slop inside. if there is too much slop then your fitting connection could be compromised. you need the pipes to bond properly rather than letting the "glue" to being the primary adhesive which abs or pvc cement is not ment for that. that is why pipes are difficult to take apart even when dry fitting.

Certainly hub savers require the professionals to make their best assessment of the fitting before reuse.
For the most accurate "ream" of PVC, check out the REED #CleanReamExtreme" which is our top of the line series.

We've been using this for years on our commercial sites and we've never had that problem unless the user doesn't know how to use it and reams too much or goes too deep.

@edgee7612 in your opinion how good does the fitting hold a test after a use?

Not only does this save fittings but it also saves us hours of hard labor. To all my commercial and residential plumbers out there you understand the value of this tool.

Did I just see him use a pipe cutter used for metal pipe for this PVC?

    • @ReedPipeTools
      @ReedPipeTools  7 лет назад +2

Yes, you saw a Reed tubing cutter with a cutter wheel for PVC used to make the cut. You can find those on our website and read all about the options for Reed Quick Release Tubing Cutters for metal versus those with cutter wheels for plastic pipe.

Wow. was this actually a real advertisement for a product? They didnt even completely remove the pipe.
I suggest making another video using real world scenarios like a san tee in a wall under a sink. Show the people just how valuable this $65 tool could be.

Glad you are watching our videos. You happened across an intro video from when the Clean Ream Plus first came out. For a newer video about the Clean Ream Extreme, check: ruclips.net/video/9R4d2uFxIhk/видео.html
      Hope it meets your expectations!

I love how these videos are all for demonstration purposes. None of this would work for a pipe that is already in place with limited access. It would be better to show this in a real situation.

Yes, Ryan, you are right that real life applications are valuable. However, we cannot always do instruction without certain camera views. When possible we interject real life tool use along with the instructional portions.

I mean during rough in while testing, if you gotta fix something these work well since you don't have everything in the way. It helps save time when it can be used. Time is money brother and if you have this or even the cheaper versions on hand you'll realize it was worth the buy

We use these non stop on our commercial plumbing job so I can assure you these do work in real life situations. They have saved us fittings and hours of hard labor from not having to chip out the cement to cut out a fitting.

Since inflation, in southern Ontario, a single 636 or Royal fitting can cost anywhere from 5-10$ a fitting. We keep any and all fittings we can, from the old pieces we remove when replacing, to the cut offs from our own installs. When it’s a slow day, I go into the shop and recycle fittings all day, doing that with a hand reamer (god forbid a pen reamer) would be horrible, this bit saves so much time in my day it’s not even funny.

@@nathan4233 I honestly wouldn't use the cheap version. I've had them snap or crack fittings. The Reed reamer is well worth the money.

Is this tool compatable with sch 80 pvc?

    Too expensive

Hopefully the value will be found in reclaiming the fittings. "Plus" is the mid-price line from REED and it does a good job. "Extreme" is the top tier line which does an exceptionally great job.
