Yeah! 迷彩 (camouflage) is written with the lost (迷う) and color(ing) (色彩) kanji. 再チェックシーケンス. Here 再 is actually in its prefix usage instead of just a jukugo as in 再開 or 再建. It's always some sort of "again" though. 移管 means specifically transfer of control over something. Makes sense. 管理 (control/management of smth) uses the kanji, too. (管 on its own means pipe, but it has this "control" meaning as well.) 44:25 現地の担当の9S. This is the usage of の as a so-called apposition. Although I guess you could argue it's very similar to the standard possessive meaning. Just remember that AのB always means that A is extra information about B. This usage with Aのname of a person is pretty common. You probably heard smth like this: 先生の藤村 (Teacher Fujimura). And that's exactly this use. Another example would be My Neighbor Totoro となりのトトロ 11:13 Ocelot revolver spinning

Like, I don't just mean they are good videos. The amount of work you put into your videos is absolutely crazy. The spreadsheet where you track the words per level is the first of it's kind I've saw, and might be one of the single most useful resouces I've ever saw for learning. Your explanations are fantastic in the videos where you describe grammar and so on. Honestly, on a professional level, you would put a lot of education courses local to me to shame, and on a personal level, just from what I've saw on these videos you seem like a cool guy too. Your channel will be the first channel where I will willingly turn off my add blocker because you deserve ever penny for the hard woirk you put in.

By the way, the literal meaning of いい加減にしろ is "good balance" + に + imperative form of する. "Behave well!" The reason why dictionaries have two, contradictory definitons of いい加減 is because いい加減 is also used ironically.

I was gonna suggest 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim as a game for you to cover, but I see you've already made a video on why it's good for learning Japanese lol. I would love to see you break down the dialogue and grammar in it, as it's pretty broad. I recently finished playing it on the switch (Eng translation with JP voice acting) and found it helpful to listen to and follow along in English. Plus, the large cast and how some characters speak in a more old fashioned way (eg. Hijiyama) and so on. Anyway, today was my first time tuning in to one of these. I will definitely check out your other videos in my free time. Your explanations are extremely helpful and easy to understand.
Only 10 minutes in and baffled by the philosophical intro again! Every time I play this game it's just so intense right from the start! On that note, question: could you use 深い in Japanese like you could "deep" in English for philosophical conversation?

By the way, about the katakana words, I agree with you, it's an unnecessary nuisance, makes reading a lot harder and slower. Japanese should either abandon them completely or start using a mixture of kanji and katakana to make sight reading faster(and abandoning the edgy katakana words that japanese already have kanji for it anyways, like エレベーター) Also, there is a difference between "黙って" and "うるさい": "黙って" is the abbreviation of "黙ってください" sounding respectful. Now, "うるさい" is straight-up agressive, so yes it sounds like "shut-up" while "黙って" sounds more something like "please stay silent" and it is not agressive at all.
I wonder if より meaning from is not a kind of humble language when referring to yourself. Since it affixes the lesser of two elements, generally. Could be pure coincidence, but it's a nice way to remember it.

Hi, my friend was trying to explain passive form to me yesterday using 殺した → 殺された But i really can't understand what the difference is because both are past tense and so in my mind both happened. To have been killed in this case. Any help understanding this is appreciated
ok so, calling it passive form is very unhelpful and can cause confusion, think of it as the receptive form in other words when a verb is in the receptive form it indicates that someone or something "got" the action so in this case: 殺した= killed 殺された got killed To further expand on this, what is actually happening with the passive/receptive form is that it is indicating that something/someone was the receiver of an action done by something/someone else so for example: 水が犬に飲んだれた So if we look at this sentence the に is marking the thing that did the 飲む, in a passive sentence the に always marks the ultimate source of the action, in other words the doer of the main verb, in this case the 飲む. The が is marking thing that is doing the れる (the receiving of the action, the getting) , the が always marks the subject of the sentence the main actor, so you see there are actually two verbs here, one is the main verb (飲む) which is the drinking and the attached (れる) is the verb of receiving/getting the action done in the main verb. It might be confusing at first because english japanese textbooks don't properly explain that is it not a conjugation but actually attaching a second verb indicating that something received the action of a verb being done by someone/something else. By the way conjugation does not exist at all in japanese, for all "conjugations" you are actually attaching different verbs to change who and what was done and by who and who too. Also one last thing, japanese is a very animist language as opposed to an ego centric one like english, what this means is in japanese they are very happy for inanimate objects to be the main doer in the sentence so yes in the example I gave it is literally saying that the 水 is DOING the action of getting drunk, it has to be that way because the receptive form られる/れる is a verb and the 水 is marked by が so it has to be the water that is doing it. Let me know if you have any questions.
Another quick e.g for you: 誰かに鞄が盗まれた 誰か marked by に, is doing the main verb 盗む, the 鞄, is doing the れる which is the act of getting the action being done in the main verb, so in a literal sense the sentence says the bag is "getting" the act of being stolen by the someone, or how we would say in english, the bag "got" stolen by someone.
