Spoony's Tour Of London's Lost Garage Venues

- Hackney born DJ Spoony has been pushing the sound of UK Garage for two decades.
A founding member of The Dreem Team and a regular resident at legendary Twice As Nice, Spoony still brings UKG to the capital on his Rinse FM show every Friday night.
The landscape of his hometown has change as venues that played host to some of UKG’s most seminal nights are closed down and worse, torn down, in favour of luxury apartments.
It’s a crisis affecting night time culture across the capital, but enthusiasm from the likes of Spoony has meant that the music will never die.
Ahead of his set at Ministry on May 14th, we jumped in an Uber with Spoony for a guided tour of garage.
Directed and Edited by Rob Davies
Produced by Tamara Roper

The Coliosium was the spot! Me 21/22 Sunday night raving go home jump in the shower then go to work🤯 We really enjoyed ourselves.
I was one of them ppl who used to drive from Cardiff to go to the End.. Then bk to work at 8am
Big up!!
Lol he mentioned my city Southampton, me and my girls drove all over Bolton, London & Milton Keynes to name a few
The End was my favourite!!! I was at the opening night & the Closing night of The End plus many nights in between. Man, so many good memories & some excellent D&B and garage niggts!
Also remember cookies & cream at Leisure Lounge I loved that venue & the Aircraft seats in the chill out zone. The UK garage scene attracted plenty of glam & hot ladies too 🤣
C&C is a name that time seems to have forgot. Legendary night.

I can remember when spoony signed me on in the dole office
Yep..thats not unknown to happen. I've seen quite a few djs, producers and record company managers who worked at them spots across South London inda past, cos I did work experience at a few when I was younger. They used to talk to me n let me know who they were and we'll start chatting. Proper friendly, funny n great storytellers. Big up London town!
Yes we must remember the roots
LONG LIVE GARAGE
He do a programme about London pirate radio and his time on London Underground FM.
Could only experience most of it on compilation cd's, tape packs and pirate tapes - as I was only a teenager in it's prime
