I was doing homework and watching cartoon network then the first episode came on I was instally hooked 10 years ago I was in middle school now I'm graduated for 2 years damn your right I really do feel old but hey it's life
It was Cartoon Network when it was at Serena finding her goal and I saw the best series of Pokémon that brought me back and this is the peak of storytelling and characters. The battles were God like.
I loved the XY anime. It gives me great nostalgia along with Black and White. The experience was just great :D. Also i really liked amourshipping
Funny enough, you were the one that got me back into XY. When I was younger, I watched BW all the way through, and when XY came out, I kept up for a little bit, but because of schedule I struggled to keep up and ultimately dropped it. Then I came across your cracks and gave it another shot. Now XYZ is my favorite of the Pokemon anime gens, and I got you to thank for that.

Man, this video unlocked a handful of memories when thinking back to the XY days, great stuff.
One interesting thought that comes to mind is that it was so surprising that XY was actively being fansubbbed back then. It was like, really??? The Pokemon anime is getting weekly uploads like that?
But the internet knew, the fans knew. They KNEW this series was different. It seemed like every week I was watching a new episode in disbelief. THIS is Pokémon? Why is this SO GOOD?
The animation, the music, the comedy, the battles, the choreography, the directing... all essentially at it's peak.
And yes, the series is definitely not perfect either. IMO, the low points are the 'summer camp' episodes, the Lapras one, and the multiple Pikachu one.
Other than that, I think XY is a series that every anime fan in general should watch.
I remember really liking science, and Ash saying "Science is so amazing" every episode, made me able to tolerate him.
Pokemon XY and XYZ were the best Pokemon seasons! I really miss the animation of XY/XYZ. Those days were the best and I miss them

Simply put, XY and XYZ was and still is perfect. From the great animation, stories, and of course Amourshipping. It's everything pokemon fans could ever ask for, both old and new fans. All until the anime was forced to put Ash back on the runner-up pedestal and thus his endless journey continues on

XY/XYZ will always have such a important place in my heart, no matter how old it is. It has the best version of Ash, it started the fairy typing, some of Ash’s best companions, one of the coolest teams of Ash and some very cool rivals. Also one of the best legendary trios.
To me, the show really made me got into Pokémon more then I did. XY\XYZ is a comfort show to me and I always go back to watch it every now and then.
XY was THAT series! It, just like DP, is my comfort series! I can go back to those two series and all my stress goes away as I remember simpler and happier times. XY was truly an impactful series that taught me so much. I remember waiting weeks for the premiere after BW ended since they showed the Mewtwo special and Genesect movie, the 1st movie and it’s prologue, as well as the episodes where Ash caught Charmander, Bulbasaur and Squirtle before even beginning XY. So I knew this was gonna be good! And the premiere DID NOT DISAPPOINT! I was blown away, in awe and filled with so much wonder and magic that Pokémon was known for! It helped me in rough times and moments and I’m forever grateful for it
Huge thank you to the unsung heroes of the XY era, Poketubers such as KGPrestige and yourself for keeping the hype train rolling those three years and even beyond through reviews, discussions, and even the good time Amourshipping AMVs. X&Y is right up there with Diamond and Pearl in terms of best series IMO(slight edge to DP for Ash's character arc and Paul the rival). The entire Pokemon series from 04-01-1997 up until 03-24-2023 was emotional rollercoaster for Pokemon fans like myself, through the good like X&Y and the bad like S&M, it was fun to be there for the ride and I wouldn't trade it for anything.
To this day, still love this series so much, still my number 1 favourite. So important to me and is the main series that really got me into Pokemon. I could keep on going about why this is such a good series. Ty XY and Z 💫
XY/XYZ was so amazing to me because it approached more of a level of a story/action shounen rather than a kid’s show. It really expanded the anime beyond just fights and had a lot of meaningful detours and subplots. Fights were great, chatacters were awesome, and the art style was so fitting for the genre. Definitely has to be the absolute PEAK of the series. Was so disappointed about how kiddy Alola was and dropped the series completely.
Ash's badge quest amounted to nothing, and Ash didn't develop. Serena's Showcase arc amounted to nothing, and Serena didn't develop, though the writing fools you into thinking otherwise until Serena herself leaves and in the process reveals that it was all a sham. Clemont and Bonnie scarcely do anything important as character nor do they develop until XYZ. The Team Rocket Trio does feck all until XYZ. All the side characters encountered throughout the story either don't develop (e.g., Miette, Sawyer, Tierno, Trevor, Shauna, Nini, Aria), or do develop only for that development to not matter in the long run (e.g., Korrina). And all kinds of plot points end up not mattering in the long run (e.g., Blaziken Mask, Korrina's trials, the evil Malamar, Goodra, Ash-Greninja, freaking AshNoticeMeShipping, etc.). How's that "meaningful"? Also, despite how "kiddy" Alola is, it's every bit as mature and meaningful as what you think the XY anime is.
@@LittleAl016 This point is again why I thought XY/XYZ was a step in a good direction for something really really good but ultimately it’s still a kids show so I mean yeah they CAN’T do anything more. I mean you can dig real deep like that if you want but I know that the show captivated me way more and was way more interesting to me than alola ever was. I loved Pokémon for so long and it felt like it was taking that step forward with me growing up that it kinda sucked when I didn’t feel like the target audience anymore and they regressed back. Regardless, my opinion is that I think it sucks now and XY/XYZ was the best. I’m not going to over analyze it and try and justify it being the best, it’s just how I felt about the show🤷🏻♂️

The XY series still remains as my #1 favorite of the Pokemon anime. The animation, character development, story arcs, and the introduction of Mega Evolution made me love watching the English dub of this series every Saturday morning on Cartoon Network. Happy 10th Anniversary!😍❤💙🤍⚡🐁🥳🎉
I feel old now to think that Pokemon XY was actually 10 years old.
I want to share how it all began.
I live in the Philippines, and there was this cable channel (now defunct) which is pretty much educational, fun and informative, because if news wasn't the only thing it aired, it would be those 5-10 minute ad commercials you see for products like Flex Tape, or cartoons and anime (Nowadays, the channel is defunct, replaced by CNN News).
It all began there, when I came across this show called Pokemon XY. I have known who Ash is, and I have played the Generation 3 games (Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald), so I at least know what Pokemon is game-wise, but not much on the anime side of things.
I liked Ash, back in a period when I was just this impressionable teen. I didn't even know he was 10 years old. All I knew is that he was a badass, a charmer, and someone who, I quote: "never gives up until it's over". He reminded me so much of who I wanted to be: reliable, strong, independent, trustworthy and very much caring.
Oh, and Serena also played a massive role in all this. She is one of the very first anime waifus I had liked (and don't blame me, I was just a young teen then, of course it's different now), and she very much impacted on what kind of person I liked to this day: sweet, kind, with a feminine charm, yet independent and someone you can lean on in difficult times.
The anime was also insanely good for the time period it aired in. The story was fairly simple given that it's a kid's show, but it did *not* feel like a kid's show due to actually impressive animation quality and art styles, how smart and fleshed-out the characters were, and how brave it was for delving into a bit more mature themes, especially that one in Snowbelle City, which shocked me a ton as a teen. I got to see an actual fight between Ash and Serena, and none of them were to be blamed.
Later on, I discovered this channel and just laughed away all the different ways the anime was different in this channel's Cracks and even found myself liking the AMVs, even though they were not really my type (due to not liking Nightcore).
In the end, by the time the anime concluded, I found myself wanting more, but at the same time, finding myself content after the escalator scene. It made me remember of the journey Ash had from beginning until the end, how fun Ash, Bonnie, Clemont, Serena, and the rest of the gang are, and not going to lie, it moved me to tears. (Of course, I still am salty on how Ash lost to Alain, that was undeserved, but let bygones be bygones)
I want to take this opportunity to thank all the writers, for trying, for innovating and going in a direction totally unheard of in Pokemon anime history, the animators and the storyboarders, because to this day, their animation and art style are still considered bangers, as well as Tetsuo Yajima, the director who banded them all and lead them to the masterpiece Pokemon XY (and Z) is today. Also, for the English dub, I wanna thank Sarah Natochenny, Alyson Rosenfeld, Mike Liscio, and of course, Haven Paschall for voicing the gang that I had known since the very beginning of Pokemon XY, and the rest who played a part to make Pokemon XY, for they all did this together.
XY and XYZ was one of my favourite times to be a Pokémon fan. Funnily enough, it was you who got me into it. I was quite young during XY and ended up missing a lot of it because I didn't know where to find it. Then I found you XYZ episode 12 review, ended up finding the subbed version and the rest was history. This series is how I found subbed anime, and I owe that to XY and to you. Keep on keeping on PokemonRangerBoy. Happy 10th birthday XY.
I still love and miss XY so much 😢😭😭
Pokémon gen 6 was the generation that I skipped out on. Not because I didn't like it, but because of a lack of exposure. At the time, I didn't have a 3DS, so I couldn't play the games, and I couldn't catch episodes of the anime, because it was now airing on weakened afternoons, where I would be at my dad's, or mum wanted to go shopping, or the Olympics were on. I did manage to catch a few episodes here and there, but I pretty much left the Pokémon fandom behind at that point, watching other monster catching series instead that filled that hole for me. It wasn't until Pokémon xyZ started airing that I came back to the franchise. And I slowly started to get beck into Pokémon again, trying desperately to watch episodes however I could. It was the reason I started watching anime in subs, and started to help me with my reading disability. I wouldn't call it my favourite gen, but it did bring me back to this franchise that I missed dearly. This is where ash's story should have ended. In my opinion anyway.
kinda interesting since it does remind me of an old friend of mine. She also could't afford a 3ds and therefore she never really played the games past Gen 5. The difference is that since she was japanese, she was able to watch the Anime since it was constantly running on free tv during the week.
But yeah she actually realy enjoyed the anime a lot and just liem you it did bring her back to the fandom, even though she also watch bw and she actually likes it as well!
But my friend aside: I'm glad that XYZ was able to help get back to the fandom while also helping you out with your disability ^^

You were better off skipping it. You weren't actually missing much.
Now my story starts from an unusual place, since I’ve discovered Pokémon in late 2018 with sun and moon, but in 2019 i discovered Xy which was on Netflix at the time. When I started XY I felt such a refresh story wise and character wise, and mostly emotionally wise with ash and Serena. I’ll never forget the under the pledging tree episode and the scene where ash and Serena talk on the train and ash gives her the ribbon. Just the themes in the series make me wanna go out and seek out the relationships that ash has with his companions, because you can see that it’s a family instead of just companions. The only companion I can see in this range other than XY is Brock and that’s it. But mostly ash and Serena are arguably the biggest thing here. I mean it very quickly because the concept on their kind of chemistry, really opened my eyes as to what true love actually is even though I haven’t find it yet. It also taught me not to search for anyone
at the moment, since goals and dreams come first as to that’s what ash and Serena are doing where they all leave in the end. XY just has life lessons left and right, and it shows me how to live those fulfilled lives. That’s why it’s so special for me. This is the main big reason because it changed my life and how I view relationships. And just like the last episode said:
“End to our own way”
Man… XY really changed the fandom forever. It was actually the reason I discovered this channel in the first place. I loved searching for AMVs during that time and ended up here and has been almost 8 since that.
When XY first aired I was just 10 years old, so that’s kinda funny. To be fair, it didn’t air in my country for like a year and half later, but even then I didn’t start watching it until a little later. I actually ended up watching it in Cartoon Network and later finishing all the series in Netflix, since I ended up watching some episodes out of order. But even then it wasn’t all the series cause there only was season 1, so I ended up searching the episodes on RUclips and finishing it there. And thanks to that, I realized there was this other season called XYZ that was only in Japanese, so I kept going with it. It was not only the first Pokémon series I watched from start to finish, but also my first anime experience, when searching for the recently aired episodes ended up with just the raw Japanese version. It’s what got me into anime lol
XY is just one of the best things to have happened. I can’t put enough praise into it. I love every moment I remember those years, and while I don’t miss them, they do feel really nostalgic. I hope to encounter something as good somewhere, but it probably can’t happen for now. I just can say, Thank you XY and XYZ for changing my life.
I hope will get to see Mega Evolution in the Pokémon Horizons Anime.

Pokemon XY was the first pokemon anime series I started watching. and Im glad I did. after that I got adicted to the anime and starting getting into other animes, like DAP Sun and moon, and so on. It made my childhood, and Im very grateful for all the memories it made for me.
(Esspecially the AMV's omfg those were fire!)

XY was the series that turned my attention to Pokémon full time. Growing up, my interest with Pokémon kind of veint in and out. I grew up watching Diamond and Pearl series, but it still wasn't anything that captured my attention so greatly. Then, with the desire to try my very first Pokémon game, Pokémon White, being impressed with it and being caught out of nowhere during the X and Y hype season in the early 2013, I jumped on the hype train and quickly caught-up with the entire franchise in record time.
Now, I'm here today, with the knowledge of every Pokémon species and (non-competitive) mind for strategy for Pokémon battles, I dare say, XY was the generation that saved me from boredom. I was looking for anything big and interesting. And the answer layed right in front of my eyes for years:
Pokémon.

Well i was watching doraemon on Tv and changed the channel and it was pokemon xy well i had watched the old pokemon bur pokenon xy touched my heart so i became a very big fan

I dont remember exactly how i got into XY anime. I was in 7th-8th grade (12-13) and was getting back into pokemon and anime in general from growing up w it. XY was airing on Cartoon Network and decided to catch up and absolutely loved it and still hold it dear now at the age of 20. The quality was amazing, not only pokemon standards but also anime in general. Truly the peak for production when it came to that with animation and battles and everything, miss that so much nowadays with the inconsistency in animation and battles being underwhelming. Amourshipping still is really dear to me, I remember doing Amourshipping stories on youtube (i.e. Kalos high and stuff like that) Serena is by far still one of my favorite characters even after having watching so many anime and reading manga, light novels, visual novels, and playing games up till now and shes still there. Her character arcs and journey alongside Ash's journey in XY working so well together as well as coming together as a really good ship makes it so special. I remember the first day Ash Greninja was introduced, 12-13 yo me running around the house cuz how hyped and surprised I was. A lot of the characters are so endearing, really hard to find major issues for me in XY, god i love it
I started watching it in 2014 but the reason I started watching it was because I got obsessed with Pokemon and found out it was a new season and I started watching it and got hooked. I remember when I found out Pokemon in Japan came out thrudays and would watch it with no subs going to school. I fell interested in Amourshipping and just the anime in general. I met so many people through it and I was so broke when it ended in 2016.. once it ended I never came back to the Pokemon world.. I was happy when I heard Serena came back for an episode but it will never be like XY / XYZ.. happy 10 almost 11 years to my favorite

I first watched XY years after it came out and gave it a rewatch just a few months ago. It was really special because previously I was watching it from the perspective of a kid, but watching it as a teenager really just hit different. It completely changed my perspective of XYZ and only reinforced it's spot (in my opinion) as the goated pokemon anime

How did I discover XY? Freedom. I didn't so much "leave" home as I *ran* from it. In the process, I discovered I could enjoy my interests without getting judged or punished. So I checked out Pokémon again for the first time again after so many years, and discovered XY. And I'm like, "Holy shit, this is Pokémon? This? It's amazing, wtf?!" *Loved* it. 👌

I know that unfortunately I’m a little late to post but although the first the first pokemon series/anime I’ve every watched was black and white, but xy was the series the got me hooked on to pokemon in the first place and if it wasn’t I would never have gone into pokemon at all so it will always remain as favorite series of pokemon
Short Hair Serena Has Overall Greater Stamina and Speed Than Misty、Dawn and Iris As Such She is Able To Perform Various Abilities Such As Reflect Skills To Her Opponents In Battle + Short Hair Serena Succeeded By Allowing Professor Friede To Completely Evolve Her Removing All Traces Of Her Humanity + After Professor Friede Repaired The DNA in Her Body It Eliminated All Traces Of Her Humanity and Her Eventual Succumbing To Time.
I first saw X and Y airing on POP and I instantly fell in love with it because that was the first anime I have ever watched
I got into a year after I graduated from high school. I have never cried or laughed as hard with characters. I will forever love pokemon xy and xyz 🥰🥰
yeah for me XYZ is the PEAK of pokemon. For me pokemon ended when journeys got finished and ash got his wish
after all in XY the animation, the story line, side characters, and the the only shipping that has proof-Amourshipping was just peak level
For me personaly the moments of which ash was dissapointed in himself in the anime gave him life and made him see like a real person and not just amine character
After all well, it would seem like a robot/programmed character if he do not have such moments(although he is 10, in this anime he is like 16 or so). after all losing miserably and just getting over it within like 10 mins is just not possible in real life.
And about serena, they are childhood friends and she has known about ash for like 4 years or so before misty even met him.(Serena is just sooooooooooooo cute!!!)
Although she also had a lot of difficulties, but c'mon guys whose life is successful without any struggle
Clemont and Bonnie were also well introduced in the anime especially bonnie. I just
love how Clemont always says believe in science and ash replies science is so amazing.
Although most of us feel that sun&moon and journeys are not that good but actually its good and can be compared to the previous ones. The animation, the art style, character development not to mention Z-ring and Dynamax and especially the final fight for the world championship.
But the thing is, XY is just soooooo good that it heightens our expectation about the following anime and the following anime is not good as XY so we feel dissapointed.
XY and XYZ are just top level that it just crushes the other versions/seasons
Finally @PokemonRangerBoy12 hats off to you for making wonderful amv's and I just love listening to them when i'm free and if not for you i would not even realized it had been 10 years since it had been released

Wow schon einfach so lange her aber ich liebe XYZ einfach immer noch am meisten von allen Staffeln❤🎉 und ich habe danach den Anime auch nicht wirklich weiter verfolgt wollte aber für die neue Staffel mal wieder reinschauen. Und Ash und Serena als Ship sind immernoch echt süß 😊

@@HelpDesk310 I am from India Although I didn't remember clearly but assuming that I started watching Pokemon from 2012 ( 4 years old) , I started from Og series which was used to air at that time In India now season 1 to 18 are dubbed in Hindi and 19 wil also be available by this year , in Pokemon official Asia Hindi yt channel they also dubbed and uploaded about 120 episodes of Pokemon journeys in Hindi ( only on RUclips not yet on tv).

I grew up watching the original Pokémon from 97 then the Johto series
Master quest , advanced, really got into the diamond and pearl. Thought that was cool.
XY and XY&Z I really enjoyed because I felt like the character Ash matured

Here is how I discovered XY
When I was kid, I used to pokemon on television but only 12 seasons were dubbed in my language (hindi)
I discovered XY in 2016 when a lot of people talked about it on RUclips
I watched clips of XY on youtube, loved watching AMOURSHIPPING & ASH GRENINJA AMV
I became a fan of it before even watching it
Thats when I started watching the series
I feel old and nostalgic seeing this.
The games got me hooked but only as a every now and then thing but after watching Cartoon Network and seeing the first preview for the first episode for XY I was hooked and I started to play the games more, buy the cards more and more and even led me to get the games. So for me, the 7 year old who saw XY will always be grateful.
And amourshipping, I’ve never been more involved in a community before and since then 😅
Dragging this one even more but this series, XY, XYZ. This was everything for me. I love that generation more than anything and there’s no words to emotions to describe the feeling I got other than pure Joy. So thank you for giving me the love and Passion I have and have had for the games and the anime( especially XY). Happy ten years.
Pokemon has been a big part of my life, even still today, although I did drop the show during the sun and moon due to the huge animation change. Funny enough, that was the same amourshipping vid.

It's been 23 years and the series is over and this was the best part ash Greninja mega evolution serina kissing ash at the end I'm crying just typing this it's always gonna be the best everything that's Pokemon forever my favorite
I grew up watching Pokémon but xy/xyz are the only seasons I’ve seen/remember every episode and have returned to many times. I watched these seasons in my mid teen years and it really helped me come into my own, and it inspired me so much
I remember this in elementary school Right before I hit into middle school and I remember having thoughts of oh my god they're finally shipping
I absolutely love this series with my whole heart and will always love it no matter what because it's a really beautiful series with really well developed and thought out characters and friendships and back stories and it had romance and battles and action and sad moments and everything was just the perfect amount❤ also XY came at a time in my life where I needed strength and after hearing Ash saying 'never give up until the end', I have that quote etched in my heart forever to this day😊😊❤ I found out what I wanted to do in the future alongside the XYZ gang❤ they all helped me to find my dream and it felt like watching a family😊 the peak of Pokémon! Ash was the most mature he's ever been in a series and it was a breath of fresh air to see that because he honestly felt like he was grown up a bit from BW in the XY era😊 I just love this era so much, the bonds and connection between Ash and Serena and how they support each other just by simple glances with no words needed is such a truly beautiful sight! I also loved the sibling dynamic with clemont and Bonnie but also with Serena and Bonnie😊 this is what I tell people when I explain why I only impersonate one kind of Ash Ketchum which is my boi from Kalos because I have so much respect and gratefulness to Ash from XY and only Ash from XY. I've been keeping Amourshipping Alive by voice acting as ash and Serena who are actually going out with each other and have become a couple on my channel which is really fun to voice act because it's just that little extra Romance that I can put into Ash's character that just feels like the right amount😊 To me these characters feel like actual friends that I know! 😊 Long-senpai, thank you for keeping the XYZ family alive from all these years ❤

XY and XYZ is definitely my favorite season of Pokémon! Minus the fact that I didn’t and still don’t like amourshipping it was such a great series. A more serious Ash, loved the Ash Greninja connection, some amazing battles and the Japanese opening was amazing! It’s actually the first time I’ve watched Pokémon in Japanese because I wanted to watch the newest episodes. The main downside to the series for me was the preformances but had they had contests it would have made it even better. Besides diamond and pearl I don’t think any other season comes close to XY for me.
I respect your opinion. I’m an AmourShipper and I have no issue with other people not liking AmourShipping, as long as they don’t make up fallacious lies about Serena/The ship or pretend they’re better than it’s fine with me.
Discovering the anime for me was a very weird, but funny story.
So we skipped through the TV Channels one day, as you do, when we skipped passed what I swore to be Calem and co in the mirror Cave talking to froaky.
But we never skipped Back to check.
I told my friend about it when we visited her, and she told me about it, more or less.
Basically that there is an anime, and that the protagonist is called Ash, and that one girl in the anime is the protagonist of the games called Serena, who doesn't like to battle (which made me instantly sympathetic towards her), and that the Pokémon in the anime are super cute, because they all say their names instead of having their cries.
What I find funny in hinsight,
my first game ended up being X because I wanted to have an ordinary Pikachu,
and then I endet up wanting to watch the anime because I wanted to see Serena. I'm not sure if this is exactly correct, but I remember clearly asking my friend that if I watched it, that there would be a girl that looked like the main girl from XY, right?
Getting to watch the anime, was a journey of itself as well.
We Had to do it over the Internet, but we kind of never came around to do it.
And the first thing I saw of the anime was Ash battleing Clemont with Viscogon, and little did I know, I almost got spoiled that Serena would have a redesign.
But we found a site where we could watch the anime, in German from the beginning.
It's basically XYs fault that I have a fondness over a certain sound a computer makes, I think when it wants to be updated.
I actually thought that Ash was a bit of a doofus at first, and I didn't really get his goal because becomming champion was so easy, why did He struggle with that. And why doesn't Team Rocket just throw a Pokeball onto Pikachu? Who is Team Rocket anyway, I only know of Team flare.
Anyway Ash wasn't really what I was here for ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
But thanks to the anime I'm always happy to hear Rika Matsumoto, Caroline Kombrink, Gabrielle Pieterman, Tobias Kern, and Shandra Schadt anywhere,
or if any of the Kalos Gang are mentioned somewhere.
The Story took a sad turn however.
One day the sote we were watching new episodes on took the XY series down.
Which is how I got to watch black and White for a bit (and I feel like the only one who thinks that Ash doesn't Look that different in BW)
But I was super sad, when I couldn't watch it anymore
At least the story has a Happy ending because I now have _ALL DVDS_ from XY.
Excluding the Movies, I only have the Diancie one, and I never was able to watch the Mega evolution specials.
(Also fun fact, I think I watched the kiss in the Episode itself, but Had No idea what was going on. I kinda needed your reaction to get it)

I was like 9 or 10 without much personal exposure to the internet when I got into pokémon, I always needed my parents permission for that, and they weren't/aren't really into Pokémon, which is why I never heard of Ash.
I only knew of Pikachu and called it "Blitzhasi".
(Also I feel like I was bashing Ash too much, I want to clarify I did grow very fond of him)
Serena is to this day my childhood hero.
I remember very well how I get to the XY anime, it was 2015 and I starting to playing pokemon for the first time with Fire Red version, then searching in RUclips about Pokemon, I ended up with a video of a famous poketuber talking about the amourshipping and I became intrigued, then I decided to search the Pokemon anime to see and my first episode that I ever saw was XYZ ep 5, the one with the gang camping at night looking at shooting stars and that moment was powerful, I always loved the idea of camping and seeing that was magical but not long after, Darkrai appeared and started causing nightmares, that was mildly scary, specially since I have no idea what Darkrai was at the time and after the episode ended, I loved? Yeah, this episode was what made me engage with the series and after that, I watched other episodes, specially the ones that had the amourshipping like the XYZ Ep 12 Dancing episode that despite not allowed Ash and Serena to dance, like WTF, gave nice moments and a great pokemon evolution in there. Thats my story, I really want to elaborate more in a video in the future, but for now all I can say is THANK YOU POKEMON XY ANIME, I love you so much and all the great memories you gave to me and all the wonderful people here in Long's channel and across the globe!
The first Pokémon main stream I bought with my own money was Pokémon Y, and at the time I have dropped the anime, but since I loved the Pokémon Y so much I decided to follow the show that followed the Gen 6 anime. And that's my show
I remember seeing XY when it came out in JP and at first I didn't think much of it since I just wanted to see it in English. Then I remember when I saw Ash about to take on Olympia and I instantly got hooked on XY and started watching it from then on. I don't regret my decision - from there to Journeys and now Horizons, my experience with keeping up with the anime in real time has been a wild ride
10 years old you can't do this to me I remembered when it was new , it really made made love my Pokémon Y game even more.
I started a marathon of the entire anime at the end of middle school and I finally caught up during the first year of high school around the middle of XY. I went completely blind at the time and, needless to say, it became my favorite series from Pokémon. I was even more hooked up with XYZ and all the Ash-Greninja thing.
Now, even though I was disappointed with SM at first, I learned to like it and at the end of the day I think I loved it just as much as XY, although in a different way.
And then... there's Journeys. Let's not talk too much about Journey. Some pretty good episodes, with great potential, but I feel like the authors didn't use that properly.
Even after I've graduated from college a decade later, I still consider XY as my fav.
Anyway thank you for all the AMVs you've made all these years. The one from you that I particularly love (and that I rewatch every two years or so) is "✬Living L0uder // Ash~Serena~Clemont~Bonnie". To me, it really encapsulates this "family" vibe from this series that you talked about.

XY came out when I was a sophomore in high school, after I was going through a heartbreaking rejection from my childhood friend. Now, I graduate medical school next year, and studied medicine in Tokyo, japan this summer, and met a Japanese girl, who is the love of my life and I’m learning Japanese so I can go back to her.
XY was my first exposure to pokemon, I found it on Netflix around late 2015 and early 2016. I was really young and had just moved to a new country I wasn't used to, XY helped me feel better and helped me learn english suprisingly. XY will always be my favorite generation and I still wish they kept this quality for the future series but I guess it's is why this series will always have a really special place in my heart. Happy Birthday XY, thanks for kickstarting my nerdy phase.

i don't think there are words to describe how dear XY/Z is to me. i was so young when i first discovered it and i remember impatiently waiting for a new episode every time.
the characters were so beautifully done and i loved how balanced all their arcs were. the story and the rivals/villains harmonised perfectly together and i remember actually crying during the final episodes (especially when clemont had to destroy his robot omfg i was BAWLING).
every once in a while i come back to this channel to get nostalgic and maybe rewatch some episodes. i love love love these seasons and i'm sad that they didn't keep that quality for the following ones, which is why i stopped watching the anime. still, i will always cherish XY/Z with all my heart🫶🏻

I discovered the XY anime after I slowly got into Pokémon and my friend said there was a "date" episode between Ash and Serena, so yeah their first "date" was the occasion that made me watch XY xD
I was 12 at that time and it was around 2015 or so but it was a difficult time for me as well since puberty was a whole struggle itself, so Pokémon XY/Z really had a sense of comfort to me and it still carries a lot of comfort for me nowadays with all the nostalgia and the "safe space" it created for me.
I kinned Serena back then and I still relate to her nowadays. After all those years she's still a comfort character for me.
And after almost a decade of being into XYZ (and Amourshipping) I decided to cosplay her XYZ look as well and man. The nostalgia hit sm an I fell in love with the series all over again.
I went to a convention this summer, dressed as her and I got so many positive reactions from various ppl and I was able to share this little bit of childhood/teenage nostalgia with them. I was very surprised how many ppl told me, Serena was their favourite character growing up and that it made their day to actually see ppl cosplaying her XYZ look. (I've never seen a Serena at cons myself and if I did, it was very obviously Game-Serena)
So yeah, even after so many years the anime is still so dear to me❤

My story with this anime(and franchise) is long, this is how I became a major Pokemon fan. Around 2016 with the Pokemon GO hype, I decided to start watching the latest series (XY&Z was nearing it's end). I was 12 and started watching it from the beginning on RUclips, alongside other videos on the same topic. I saw on YT the clip where Ash got sick and fell in Serena's arms and I was like WTF THIS IS IN POKEMON?! This scene was crazy for my 12 year old brain (and I was a major amourshipper), so I looked through the comments and (this next thing is very stupid but incredible at the same time) someone had asked "What happened after that??!" after which there was a reply saying "Watch PokemonRangerBoy, that's what REALLY happened", so I went to your channel as fast as I could, watching as many videos as possible and I did not realize that I did not get the answer I was looking for, I was just enjoying my time watching your vids :) and that's how I found you. (btw the thumbnail on your most popular crack compilation filled my brain with dopamine at the time)
Also I had a major crush on Serena but this should go without saying tbh
The VA for Clemont (Yuki Kaji) came to my city a few days ago because of a Crunchyroll Event and I couldn't see him. I would've loved to hear his experience as Clemont and, if I had the chance, ask him about the 10-year anniversary of this series and how he felt about it :(
If the anime ever peaked it was with its first season. But you must be old enough to understand how BONKERS it was back then. It’s just downhill after that for the anime.
Though efforts have been made to recapture the sheer writing quality the first season have. The only season thus far to come the closest to that is SM.

Did you know in Fire Emblem Descendants most of the assets from the xy series were reused in this anime because it was created by a former pokemon animator

I forget why I started watching it but I binged all of XY and into part of XYZ in like 4 days and then watched the sub to get even further. Was just cool, and a huge step up from BW which was why I stopped watching. Good times
I think XY was a very good series and I was introduced to it by watching all Ash’s Kalos gym battles in their own videos watching how good the battles was cool and seeing Ash being a Bad ass that’s what brought back into watching Pokemon XY after I left the series I’m the Middle of Black and White while Sun and moon and Journey were good in their own rights but I will never compare to This series and happy XY anniversary Long.

This was truly a fun era of Pokémon.
I've been watching the anime since AG and although I overall did enjoy BW I do admit that I started to fall off with the franchise, but when the first episode of XY came out I was hooked. The battles looked better than ever, Ash was at his coolest, Clemont's and Bonnie were fun, and Serena having a pre-established connection with Ash heck I enjoyed it so much that I started watching it subbed just so I didn't have to wait an extra week for new episodes to come out in the states.
As the series went on I just enjoyed watching it even more from Ash and Clemont's brotherly bond, Bonnie's relationship with Squishy/Puni-chan, and Serena who ended up becoming my favorite character from the anime in general. The music also became a selling point for me with absolute bangers like Ash-Greninja's theme, the epicness of Hawlucha's theme and all of the feel-good openings that pick me up when I'm feeling down. The mega evolution specials where also a fun mini-series and watching Alain battling against various Mega's and his growing bond with Mairin, and how hyped I was when he was introduced into the main series.
The XY series to this day still remains close to my heart, it reminds me of the times I didn't have a care in the world or worries of the future, it reminds me back when I used to be a huge Amourshipper and would spend weeks waiting for more Ash and Serena moments, it reminds me of the times when I helped put a smile on my face when things weren't going well, and although those days are gone and will only continue to move further away I will never forget just how much the series meant to me.
When I saw the previews of the X & Y series, I was immediately hooked! It's what got me back into watching the Pokémon anime.
I loved the characters, characterization, and character development. And as a plus, it gave me a shipping I was fully invested in.

Hottake but. As far as I love XY/XYZ (and I loved watching your reviews from 2015), but there are so much flaws in this series that people doesn't want to talk mostly because of nostalgy, like, Serena who can't be her own character without Ash (thanks to Journeys for changing that part of her), and Greninja overshadowing the rest of Ash's Pokemons, I hated that
And when you point those flaws out, you get called a "hater". It's super frustrating.

Watching XY in its original Japanese with subtitles helped motivate me to learn Japanese so I can return to my girlfriend in Tokyo.
