  • Wednesday March 25 2020 at 12.09 and 12.15. The 11.51 Brighton to West Worthing (12.21) train with 41 seconds cut. Then a view of the station and the 12.02 Brighton to Portsmouth Harbour (13.22) and the 12.12 West Worthing to Brighton (12.44) trains with 4 minutes cut. Thus the barriers were down for 9 of the 12 minutes I was there. The main fault was lowering the barriers 4 minutes before the train to Portsmouth. This crossing was filmed in 2011 from both sides and uploaded as Lancing LC and Lancing Level Crossing 2. It now has new lights but not much else has changed. In 2001 the signalman in charge of this and 3 other level crossings was found slumped in the signal box here drunk. He went to jail. The job was recently advertised again. As you can see there were a lot of people about and many waiting outside the Nationwide. I haven’t been in a shop for 4 weeks.
