@hatethegamejackson1923 Hakeem is the greatest big man ever imo, but he never dropped 40 a game on anyone in a playoff series, you think he's all of a sudden doing it against the Bulls???
Vernon might have held MJ back for some stretches in each game, but he’s not shutting him completely down for 4. But there was NOBODY on the Bulls that was even gonna slow Hakeem down even for a second. I think the winner of this hypothetical series would come down who had an “off night” between MJ and Dream. Jordan cant drive and dunk much, Hakeem is waiting at the rim. Even all the way to mid range Hakeem can guard MJ. Hakeem is pretty much MJ on a Centers body with better footwork.
That back to back Rockets championship team was amazing. Watched all those games during Covid quarantine. Hakeem was unguardable, his low to high post game was immaculate & defended the rim at a high level. Clyde was an amazing athlete running the floor and attacking the rim. Kenny smith was a very good 3ball shooter, & Robert Horry is such a clutch, sensational ball player who takes NO plays off, both ends of the floor. But I believe Jordan’s bulls would win
I am so glad that you got to watch those great games with the Rockets. I watched both seasons live at the time. I am a life long Chicago fan, now I live in Orlando area, and can honestly say that first '94 - '95 Houston team would compete and probably beat the Bulls. The Rockets were ready, lucky, and had the right combination of depth and Dream to stress the Bulls. They were great, its fine to speculate and say the Rockets *could* beat M J and the Bulls - because they did not have to. Then seeing the... unready and very young Magic take the beating from Houston was not exactly what I can say was "fun", lol. ( though I did get to see M J play game 2 in the 'Orena' ! )
@@RPYMCMB Young pups? dawg most of those players were experience veterans. Plus Its as simple as this. Those rockets teams were the worst possible matchup for the bulls. You can see that as a fact by looking at the record between the two teams in the early-mid 90's. Not to mention don't forget MJ and the bulls got beat by the magic in the 94-95 playoffs and that magic team got swept by the rockets in the finals that same postseason.
People forget that Jordan lost to the magics and try to excuse it by saying that he wasn't warmed up by then. This wasn't really true as his stats were actually better than his next season that they won a ring. The break actually saved Jordan's legacy as everyone thinks they would have just won 8 in a row lol
He can't say in '94 because the Bulls are still solid at that time. He said '95 because Horace left Chicago for Orlando. Listen to what these former Rockets were saying, all of 'em said in '95
MJ was there in 95 bro y'all need to stop it saying he was retired 2 seasons. He came back the last quarter of the regular season and was avg 31.5 ppg in the playoffs so he wasn't rusty either that's an excuse.
@@Mike_G737 it's not an excuse, it just points to how great Michael was anyway. Even with that being said, everybody knows what happened The following season when Michael was able to play the full season. Remind me what happened in 1996 again? 🤔😂😂😂😂
Dream was at another level those two years. And Kenny Smith nailed it. The Bulls first three peat team was too short. It's the second three peat team with Rodman that may be better than the Bill Russell Celtics.
What? The first Bulls three peat team had Horace Grant, Bill Cartwright, Will Perdue. All were big enough to guard Hakeem, but Hakeem would have probably dominated them.
@@lockejr 😂😂😂😂 not for that matchup. The rockets were washing those guys and the games weren’t close. Now when the bulls got Rodman and Harper it was over for the rockets. That team was also different for the rockets.

@joceja23 this happened because Michael was getting his teammates the ball and they were missing the shots. I remember one very specifically, where Michael got the ball down low to luc longley they're big 7footer wide open right at the basket and he blew the layup in one of the games in that series where they played the magic. The Magic beating them was the best thing for that finals undefeated streak because that woulda been worst Bulls team in the finals given all the circumstances.
I’m writing this comment before even finishing the video. Anyone who thinks Bulls would’ve lost in 1994 needs to go watch the 1993 Finals against the Suns again. MJ was at the peak of his powers when he retired the first time. No way does he lose the following season if he kept playing & team was intact

Preparation for random regular season meeting are very different from preparing for playoff match up . I remember the Last Dance year of Jordan and the Bulls 97- 98, Bulls lost both regular season games to Utah Jazz, when they met in the Finals it is a different story.
This is laughable that Vernon would have shut down MJ , I agree the Dream was the truth but the even the Pistons couldn’t stop MJ that’s why they started playing football against Chicago. I hear Isaiah Thomas talk about the Pistons a lot and if the truth be told they was the dirtiest team in the history of the NBA, they could win fare so they started a new way to play and that was football/basketball. I felt sorry for Joe Dumas because he never played like the rest of those guys.
Vernon didn't need to "shut down" MJ. He just needed to do enough. You couldn't put MJ on any team and him win a championship everytime. There's every chance that the Rockets may have beaten them.
The Maxwell running into the Portland stands in Feb 1995 has some interesting fallout. He gets a 10 game suspension and during it Houston trades Thorpe for Clyde Drexler, who essentially takes Maxwell's starting SG spot. VM held onto that grudge until game 1 vs 3rd see Utah. He quits the team after that loss. Houston goes on to repeat as a 6th seed anyway. Maxwell signed w/ Philly in '95-'96 during Stackhouse rookie year, and then w/ San Antonio in '96-'97 (the team that sold him to Houston in '90) in the 'tank' year before Duncan. '97-'98 he signed a bunch of 10 days, and then lockout '99 he's a key cog on the Webber/Jason Williams Kings team that takes Utah to the limit. He wraps it up w/ Seattle, Dallas, and Philly again.
I could imagine that because the Rockets were hungry and the Bulls going for a 4peat is very hard and that winning fatigue could catch up. If it was just the Bulls' going for a back to back I don't see the Rockets winning
💯 people forget how hard it is getting 3 let alone 4. I personally think they would’ve fizzled out as that wasn’t motivation enough to chase 4 in a row. Plus, i’m 100% sure there would’ve been locker room issues with Jordan’s personality by then. People don’t realize how timely that first retirement was. It gave him a new core when he came back and a nice break. Even Magic’s Lakers eventually imploded in 1990. That’s a long time to be going deep in the playoffs with the same teammates
I disagree. Those Rockets had a hard, hard time with the Seattle Supersonics. Got embarrassed almost every time against them. What makes you think they were going to beat the Bulls with MJ at the height of his Peak?
The season he is talking about the 94-95 season... that would have been a 5 peat at that point... Its crazy how many people are in this comment section talking about the season directly after they beat the suns, which was 93-94! They beat the suns in the 92-93 season!...
Man... if you told Jordan you guys can't win 4 Championships in a row... you honestly think he wouldn't make it happen??? Let's be real ! Btw even after their 6th ring... if they never broke up the season after it was the "lock out" season. Short and sweet lol they would've won that one too
The Knicks took them to 7 in the 94 finals. Starks and Derek Harper had a great series against Kenny Smith and Maxwell going into game 7, but everyone remembers Starks poor shooting in the 7th game. Pippen and Grant would have had their way with Thorpe and Horry. Maxwell would have lost his mind after 2 games against Jordan. I don't think he would have kept his head in the game for a seven game series if it even went that far. Hakeem would get his, but those Bulls teams always carried 3 tough nosed centers. Cartwright was still there. He would not have been a pushover, even if he was older The only way the Bulls lose, in my opinion would be due to burnout. 4 finals in a row is tough.. I don't agree with Horry, but he's backing his team..
Plus the Bulls utilized full court pressure during that time in playoffs heavy. They gave several PG guards problems during that time. The Rockets players lived off doubling Hakeem. They couldn't just be spot up
@bolebole161 nope the Bulls lost. The so called phantom call was in game 5 and Pippen still had 2.1 seconds left to make a play but Pippen wasn't built like that he's not clutch. Then Pippen still had game six and seven to win and Pippen won game six and came up short in game seven lol. So yeah the Bulls lost fella 😅😅😅😂
@rollinstonemoula9689 how did Pippen kill the Knicks when if it wasn't for Kukoc hitting the shot in game three the Bulls possibly could've got swept fella? How could Pippen kill the Knicks if he didn't beat them when Jordan wasn't there fella?
Big shot bob also says Hakeem was better than Timmy too but hakeem only made it out of the first round 6 times in his entire career. Timmy made it 19 times lol and played 16 of them with one leg in a brace and couldn't run anymore. Timmy literally put up a HOF career after blowing his knee out (2 MVPs, 4 more rings, 2 more FMVPs, dozen or so All nba 1st teams). When Hakeem blew his knee out, he got shipped to another country to play backup minutes for Keon Clark lol.
lol I agree Timmy was better but few corrections here Hakeem made it out first round 7x he also really didn’t have no talent around him after Ralp Sampson got hurt. Lol technically Tim Duncan only played in 18 post season appearances even though his teams made it 19 years he got hurt in 2000 so he sat out for the playoffs. He lost in the first round 3x. Also the spurs develop Tony,Manu then Kawhi implementing load management to cut down Timmy minutes & games played. So he was able to extend his window of greatness. Spurs management was just better at surrounding tim Duncan wit talent in comparison to Hakeem
Y'all need to stop using team accomplishments to determine individual skill. You didn't use any individual stats in your argument for Duncan over Hakeem. You sound like you would fit perfectly at ESPN.
This is what im talking about ...why i wont watch the full interview...delusional great role player...it would have been 8 - 0 and you would have 5 rings...instead thank the man for giving you your first opportunity to win and leave it at that
1 ring for prime Hakeem, 1 ring for prime Jordan. That makes 7 rings for Jordan, 1 ring for Hakeem if Jordan was still playing those two seasons he missed.
Lol, I guess Robert missed seeing that game on 3/25/1991 for what Jordan did to Hakeem. People forget how good MJ was on defense when he was ready to lock someone up.
You know what’s crazy ? Earlier in robert horry’s career with the rockets he almost seemed like a poor man’s Scottie Pippen … but when he got older he didn’t shape or molded out in the same structure like Scottie .. or maybe I’m tripping ..
Sean Elliot was more of a poor man's Scottie Pippen than Robert. That's was Pistons traded for him with the hopes of building a team around him before drafting Grant Hill.
Lol Vernon's sweating right now hearing Robert Horry talk about MJ like that lol. A couple other things: Horry's talking about 93-94 season, not 94-95, where MJ did come back and the Magic beat up the Bulls after they had lost Horace Grant and really had no bigs who could play defense (which is why they went after Rodman during the off-season). Horace Grant was a way better post defender than Horry ever was, so though I doubt he would have shut down Hakeem, he would've done a way better job than Horry would have.
As someone who lived thru the bulls dynasty, the Bulls had never faced a HOF center in The Finals (Vlade Divac doesnt count as he's a HOF for the same reason Yao Ming is). The Bulls defeated and were defeated by HOF centers in Ewing and Shaq in the Playoffs. When Jordan wasnt there in '94, Ewing/Knicks ended the first part of the Bulls dynasty. When Jordan came back, Shaq/Orlando pushed the 2nd part of the Bulls dynasty by one full year. *Hakeem still wins back to back titles if Chicago was there. And yes, Clyde Drexler still lands in Houston in '95, just in time to stop MJ in the Finals "rematch" that year*
But we will never know. How come you never made it to the Final when Jordan did comeback, the league was not the same when he was there as to when he wasnt there
This is an important question. They seemed to just happen to be ready righr when MJ retired, and only for that moment. Meanwhile, the Bulls won 3 rings precisely on either side of those two seasons where Houston won. Sure, the Bulls would not have been able to handle them . . . right?
They went 7 games against the Knicks and the Bulls spanked the Knicks every time. Actually the Knicks needed 6 games to beat the Bulls without Jordan in 94. Logic tells me Bulls in 6

93-94 Bulls win in 6 games tops. It’s the 94-95 season I’m worried about. Would Horace have left if Jordan stayed? If so, who would have replaced him? Was San Antonio ready to trade Rodman before the 94-95 season? Also, the Rockets had a worse record in 94-95(worst for a champion I believe), but their level of basketball in the playoffs was peak Rockets basketball. They just got hot at the right time. 94-95 is the season Houston could have won.

Rockets had the time to prove they could beat the Bulls on their second 3peat but couldnt get out of the Western Conference lol,Supersonics and the Jazz were all over them.
He's not lying. Horace Grant was gone, Bill Cartwright was gone, John Paxson had retired so they wouldn't have enough to stop prime Hakeem. If a year 2 Shaq dropped almost 25ppg that series on Luc Longley imagine what prime Hakeem would've done. Along with the supporting cast of Clyde Drexler, Kenny Smith, Robert Horry and Mario Elie.
I’m not saying the Bulls would have beat the Rockets, but if Horry thinsk Jordan would have been at all bothered by Maxwell in a finals game then he must have broken into Barnes’ stash.
How do you think they beat them in the regular season a lot of times? by exactly what Horry talked about. I'd trust his words, they actually beat the Bulls prime. Phil Jackson said it himself they had no answer for Hakeem.
Teams played with a different kind of confidence once MJ was out of the picture, so of course they’ll say they would’ve beat the Bulls in a hypothetical scenario after they didn’t have to face them lol.
Puhleeze....even when Jordan was in the picture Hakeem did whatever he wanted. Jordan before he retired: "we have no answer for that big African....we haven't been able to figure that team out for some time".
Michael Jordan was Michael Jordan in 1995 against the Magic. Funny thing is Horace Grant was difference in the Series. Without Cartright, and Grant Bulls couldn't get it done in 95. The Funny thing Horace Grant the MVP of 95 series goes down in game 1 of 96 series, and the wheels come off for the Magic in 96. Horace Grant plays 1 half of 96 series, and when he goes down it unravels for the Magic. Nick Anderson also misses most of the series. Dennis Rodman plays arguably the best series of his playoff career in 96 against the Magic. Jordan was even used less in 96 than 95. Magic wouldn't of got swept in 96 if Horace & Anderson dont get hurt. And Rodman was the difference in 96. Bulls got beat in 95, and Jordan was Jordan.
If MJ doesn't retire and faces Houston in both of those Finals, could the Rockets win one of those 2? Maybe, but let's not forget to it took them 7 games to beat the Knicks in 1994 never winning on the road while those Knicks needed 7 games to beat the Bulls WITHOUT MJ. Saying Houston would have beaten Jordan going for a 4-peat or a 5-peat like it was a certainty is just plain stupid. I don't care that Houston had good success against them in the regular season. Playing a championship caliber team 4 to 7 straight times is a completely different animal.
Olajuwon was the nemesis of Jordan in the regular season, he would of been his nemesis again in the NBA Finals. Remember, the sonics got helped from the referees to beat Houston. Jordan was thankful to not play them in the Finals.

Hes right the rockets swept the bulls in the 92-93 season. I rember jordan just having 23 points and the dream blocking the final 3 point shot of the game
The Bulls lacked the frontline in 94-95 to be able to compete with any legit team. They had lost 2 key starters ( Cartwright, Grant) and even though Jordan had come back he wasn’t in basketball shape.

Win is an understatement. He would destroy these young pups. I wish we had a time machine just to watch them eat their words.
Most definitely the 🐂 would have won

Same way no one can stop MJ.

Vernon Maxwell my fav all time!
Good player to play for Houston.
Orlando didnt shut Jordan down and they still won the series.
Vernon didn't need to "shut down" MJ. He just needed to do enough. You couldn't put MJ on any team and him win a championship everytime. There's every chance that the Rockets may have beaten them.
Already knew what the title was before I opened it all the way
The Maxwell running into the Portland stands in Feb 1995 has some interesting fallout.
Akeem Olajawon
Only chance Rockets had was how impossible it is to 4 peat
The season he is talking about the 94-95 season... that would have been a 5 peat at that point... Its crazy how many people are in this comment section talking about the season directly after they beat the suns, which was 93-94! They beat the suns in the 92-93 season!...
@Optimal Power Sim Racing you type so fast!!
Man... if you told Jordan you guys can't win 4 Championships in a row... you honestly think he wouldn't make it happen??? Let's be real ! Btw even after their 6th ring... if they never broke up the season after it was the "lock out" season. Short and sweet lol they would've won that one too
@RiberyGDL
It was impossible for Jordan to go undefeated vs Orlando in the playoffs
Rockets won't 4 peat, 3 peat, back-to-back, but they get 1 championship from the bulls if he never retired.
He would not have been a pushover, even if he was older
The only way the Bulls lose, in my opinion would be due to burnout. 4 finals in a row is tough..
I don't agree with Horry, but he's backing his team..
The Knicks lost in 7 to the Bulls...😏
Plus the Bulls utilized full court pressure during that time in playoffs heavy. They gave several PG guards problems during that time. The Rockets players lived off doubling Hakeem. They couldn't just be spot up
@bolebole161 nope the Bulls lost. The so called phantom call was in game 5 and Pippen still had 2.1 seconds left to make a play but Pippen wasn't built like that he's not clutch.

I actually think they’d split. Bulls win it one year Rockets win it the next.

Only refs can beat '93 - '95 olajuwon 🚀 rockets 💯 🏆🏆🏆
And those who say horry is talking shxt? Horry is 1000x better shooter then pippen and jordan and 1,000,000x more clutch than jordan. Horry was born to hit clutch 3s in championship games. Horry is a true champion 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆
so just in perspective, rockets werent even making the finals until those two years... they had play a knicks team that probaly not in the finals if jordan is playing, just having hakeem didnt make it a closed case win, as bulls were beating knicks with ewing, and every other team with a big guy on it.. they literally got lucky he retired
They are not lucky, no way, they could of handle them in the Finals just like they handle them in the regular season.
@@hectorlopez1069 did ever think that maybe bulls took off those nights, like it wasnt an important win at time, but would be diffrent in playoffs ?
Rockets had the time to prove they could beat the Bulls on their second 3peat but couldnt get out of the Western Conference lol,Supersonics and the Jazz were all over them.
Rockets aint beating no Bulls 😂😂😂
They had a winning record against Jordan and the Bulls in the regular season
He's not lying. Horace Grant was gone, Bill Cartwright was gone, John Paxson had retired so they wouldn't have enough to stop prime Hakeem. If a year 2 Shaq dropped almost 25ppg that series on Luc Longley imagine what prime Hakeem would've done. Along with the supporting cast of Clyde Drexler, Kenny Smith, Robert Horry and Mario Elie.
Idk if they would’ve won that. Jordan averaged 41.0 points, 8.5 rebounds and 6.3 assists in finals the year before & was in is athletic prime
That's what it sounds like in your comment. You think bulls can beat the rockets in the finals.
@@hectorlopez1069Jazz swept bulls in regular season those two years they made it to the finals or at least one of the years
Markula4040 Yup I think jazz swept bulls when they went to finals one year. Didn't amount to anything
The same Orlando team that beat the Bulls in 6. They went on to get swept by the Rockets.
Robert Horry is correct. Ppl forget MJ did come back and play in 95-96. Mj wasnt mentally fit for basketball in in the 94-95 season.
I swear if people haven’t heard MJ talking about facing Hakeem then there’s some delusional Jordan fans and I mean ones that weren’t around or alive to see Jordan play
ruclips.net/video/1VYO5NjmUJw/видео.html
Watch that video to see what Jordan did to Hakeem. Trust me, Jordan would be licking his fingers at that matchup, because he knows how great Hakeem is, and would want to show the world who’s the king.
Where were the rockets in 91,92,93?
so question? why did they not before jordan left the first time, and why did they not after he came back, not the year joprdan played 17 games but the year after hustons second championship
94-95 bulls roster was mix of old team and team btw
. So it wouldn’t of been as easy and most ppl would like to think
They didnt even beat Orlando who Houston swept.
“I’m looking back at everybody that they had on that Bulls team-I know I’m a better defender than all them dudes.” -please…you ain’t better than Pippen or Jordan or even H. Grant. That’s just blind arrogance on Bobs part and I love the guy from the Laker days. If MJ wouldn’t have left, and they met in the finals, Bulls in 6.
Lol...I caught that too. What a ridiculous statement. Jordan, Pippen, and Horace Grant were all on the NBA's All Defensive Teams during those years. Jordan and Pippen were first team and Grant was second. Robert Horry never made an All Defensive team his entire career if I'm not mistaken. But all of a sudden he was a better defender than "all of thos guys"?? That's what you call Revisionist History.
I don't think so, Rockets in 7.
Pippen would eat Horry alive like Jordan vs Maxwell😒
This dude talks about sweeping Chicago in the regular season and goes on to say they will beat them in the Finals? Dude Miami also swept Chicago in the regular season, what happened when they faced them in the playoffs? Miami got swept! Thinking regular season and playoffs are the same is just not it. Stop it, get some help. 😫
0:55 ... Horry played for San Antonio in the 2004 season, not LA. All good, though! lol
the 2nd year, very likely they would have lost, but that first chip team was something else..the perfect timing/team. I believe they would have won regardless
Rockets won't win back to back, but they probably get 1 ring from Jordan.
This man said he was a better defender than all the players on the Bulls? Boy gtfoh lmao😂
1994 team with Jordan wins 70 games and beats Rockets in 6 no question.
All I have to say for Chicago Bulls fans is that if the Houston Rockets did play the Chicago Bulls is the return of the Jordan Rules!!!
Hes right the rockets swept the bulls in the 92-93 season. I rember jordan just having 23 points and the dream blocking the final 3 point shot of the game
1:47 Sorry, Rob... Jordan averaged 30.6 points per game versus Vernon Maxwell in his career.
94-95 Rockets beating the Bulls is a LIE!!
I will believe "Horry GOATer 7 > Mj goat 6" more than this bs.
Without Horace Grant and Scott Williams the rockets had a great chance of beating the bulls in 1995
The Bulls lacked the frontline in 94-95 to be able to compete with any legit team. They had lost 2 key starters ( Cartwright, Grant) and even though Jordan had come back he wasn’t in basketball shape.
I like Horry a lot, but this narrative is cap. Vernon Maxwell didn't even make a single All-Defensive team, he's not shutting down Jordan. Pippen and Jordan would have shut down any Guards or Forwards on the Rockets and just let Hakeem get his.
I like horry but come on there is no way Max will lockdown jordan
