I played 6 hours on EA access. Career starts nice and feels fine, but gets extremely Grindy to reach a title fight and worse still, it got really dull after the first few fights in my opinion, where you have less interaction with your coach and your simply left to rinse and repeat the same fight camp and fight sequence without many cut scenes or storyline. Got stale. Gameplay is decent, but not a huge jump over UFC 3 Graphics are the same let’s be honest with ourselves. Wouldn’t mind a fight night now it’s been long

UFC 2009 was the sole culprit in getting me into MMA 10 years ago just by being a fun and excellently balanced fighting game. But seeing how poor UFC games are now saddens me to think that someone else wont go through the same beautiful experience I did.
That's why I still play UFC 2. Nothing like elbowing someone making them stumble and hunch over just to flying double knee them in the face and make them do 3/4ths of a backflip just to crush their face with 4 brutal hammerfists. Or let them stand up just to slam them back down with a single-leg suplex. think the camera following the g&p strikes helps alot.
So I've had about 3 or 4 fights in career mode so far and I instantly had to switch to the legacy grapple system and the higher camera angle. It seems like EA tried to simplify the grappling system and did but ended up making it a touch more complicated. It does feel more fluid and I like that they made the combat more fast paced like in a real fight. It'll take me some getting use to the new commands for defending/performing takedowns and transitioning in a standing clinch but I like the overall direction.
Does anyone remember UFC Undisputed series from ps3 generation? When it actually felt like you were doing damage with your punches/kicks. And the transition from the knock down animation to getting up didn't look dumb af(5:50 wtf was that). And when you knock your opponent out your fighter doesn't just stop, you still had 3-4 seconds to punch the unconscious body until ref pulled you away. That game wasn't perfect, but damn was it fun to play..... the things we had before EA...
Undisputed 3 still brings a tear to my eye 8.5 years later, I waited for the store to open on release day and I've played it ever since. Absolute perfection

Netherrealm engine for the graphics would be sick and they understand the marketing aspect of it. It’s argued they pissed a few folks off with all the added DLCs that weren’t included in the MK11 Ultimate Edition.
Fight night champion was the best but remember the spamming that so many people did. Especially using Tyson? I was the best on this game and probably played and beat you. No offense.

Yep, this will be the first UFC game I won’t be buying day 1 starting with UFC on the Dreamcast. I was such a diehard I even pre-ordered those shitty OG Xbox UFC games. The lack of ragdoll ko’s and ground and pound still looking extremely robotic and lacking any semblance of impact sealed the deal that this is a bargain bin purchase for me.
UFC 3 is actually way better in my opinion. When i originally saw gameplay for UFC 4 i though it looked incredibly smooth and fluid, when in reality it is very clunky. The changes made to the control scheme and the new clinch game is horrible. The ground game is also worse. You can be a superior wrestler and will struggle to advance in the top position like never before. I kept reading that UFC 4's ground game is "new and intuitive"... they barely touched it at all. Career mode is also terrrible. Why do i have to go into 40 different sparring sessions leading up to a fight? it takes away the fun from Career mode as i am spending more time in the gym rather then actually fighting. UFC 3's training system was alot faster and better. GAME IS STRAIGHT GARBAGE!
It's due to using actual physics and not canned animations, but yeah it needs work clearly. You put it exactly they look like rubber dummies held up on strings trying to tickle each other. Grappling looks a lot better because it employs more canned animations
Fight Night Champion had great punch impact. I wish they added some kind of white flash or just better feedback if you stun your opponent like in that game
I’ve got it, the knockouts look and feel the worst out of any game in the series. Disappointing, if you’re a boxer or a kickboxer. Hopefully they update the animations and tweak the gameplay like a “games as service” like they did for the 2nd game. If that’s the case give it a month or two
I’m having fun with the game so far 🤷♂️ If you don’t take the time to learn the game, timing of button presses, stamina management, you’re not going to have as much fun.
I don't think people understand how hard it will be to make a new Fight Night. So many boxers now work and promote themselves through their own company. So they would have to dish out insane cash to use most fighters models now. UFC has all their fighters under the same banner so it's substantially easier to get rights to fighters.

If MMA is bigger than why did the UFC's top draw have to go to boxing to get some actual money? If EA were smart they would alternate the two games. They're even using boxing stars (Fury and Joshua) to market this game because those two are bigger stars than almost anyone in MMA 🙄. PLUS boxing is more fit for video games since its solely striking and none of the ground game crap that EA still can't get right anyway. The Fight Night Series (as well as UFC Undisputed) were wayyyyy better than this EA UFC garbage we've been getting for the past few years.
I wish I was excited about more than having new fighters on the roster and updated models and stats. Because outside of that it doesn't look like it's a whole lot different than UFC 3. A lot of the animations and movement look exactly the same as UFC 3 and the graphics are only slightly better looking. Thats why I'm just waiting until it goes on sale to buy it.
There’s been a few updates in the past couple months , it flows much better now. Grapple game over all is better with the legacy setting instead of the new assist setting.
I'm pretty sure you get him for free once you get the GOAT/Legendary status in career mode, at least I did. Edit: In UFC 3, I don't know if you can get him for free in UFC 4.

So uh... just to let you guys know, EA has stopped providing major updates to this game. They haven't had a major update in almost 3 months iirc. This is the same exact thing they did to UFC 3 before they abandoned it.
Only things that could improve it would be more updates on clothes, moves, make heavy hits feel stronger, animations, and let us keep beating the person we knocked out for 2 seconds or more to feel like a savage.

@Mixedhero wdym how, it's a ton better than UFC 3. UFC 3 stand up is a mess. The grappling in 4 is a ton better, the ground game is better although ground and pound is a bit OP. Striking and standup is still not perfect but did improve and could be tuned via patch (if EA finally listens)

Play ufc games like a fighter would actually fight, if you do this, you will like this game. Thats just it. This is not a traditional fighter with combo sets, you need some real fight IQ to really make the most out of this game.

So uh... just to let you guys know, EA has stopped providing major updates to this game. They haven't had a major update in almost 3 months iirc. This is the same exact thing they did to UFC 3 before they abandoned it.

This game actually pisses me off, every time I’m in the ground, it’s literally impossible to get up. It gets canceled every time.

Only things that could improve it would be more updates on clothes, moves, make heavy hits feel stronger, animations, and let us keep beating the person we knocked out for 2 seconds or more to feel like a savage.

I really want a new Fight Night, but I gotta say I'm hooked on this one. A lot of fun and deep as usual.
UFC 4 the wonderful simulation where you can become a UFC star, never go past the 2nd round with knockouts, have a 46-0 record and be forced to retire at the ripe old age...of 37 while fighting people who are mid 40s lol

@Mixedhero wdym how, it's a ton better than UFC 3. UFC 3 stand up is a mess. The grappling in 4 is a ton better, the ground game is better although ground and pound is a bit OP. Striking and standup is still not perfect but did improve and could be tuned via patch (if EA finally listens)
The game has much improved from Beta over to the Play First Trial and even further with the Day One Patch.

Agreed I have been enjoying my trial especially in my career & I only have two hours left, I’ll purchase it & the morning but if u played 3 a lot 4 is worth it but I can understand if someone waits for a sale.
Play ufc games like a fighter would actually fight, if you do this, you will like this game. Thats just it. This is not a traditional fighter with combo sets, you need some real fight IQ to really make the most out of this game.
