My new years resolution is to try all the different flavours of Tony's chocoloney chocolate - silly resolutions only for me, regular ones stress me out too much!
My New Year's resolution was to cook more types of potatoes. Currently on the slate are mashed potatoes with garlic comfit bechemel sauce in, potato babka (think like if you made a giant latke/rosti by baking), and mini potato gratin. This year will also be the year I finally make fondant potatoes.
I love that you figured out a reason for why the exact instructions didn't work out for you. I wouldn't have expected linen to be that much thicker than other fabrics so ~new info acquired ~
That's how my brain works 🤣 And yeah! It depends on the weight, of course, but when you're dealing with that much volume, it can make a huge difference, I have learned!
I made my husband an 18th century undershirt.. waaaaaaaaay too big in the body-he was swimming in it haha, and too narrow at the upper arm but thankfully that was gathered down so was able to seam rip and rework everything (well neck hole/collar was fine so no alterations there). Not much of a "surprise gift" when it doesn't fit then I make him try it on after every step when remaking, but whatever, finished it (now fitting) Christmas Eve at like 11:45pm.
My NY resolution: Start and finish that long queue of historic costumes. Now I have to add another - Nooooo! My daughter and family are moving to San Antonio this month, so (thx to u) I now have to make a complete outfit and fly down for this event! 🤦♀️ Happy New Year!
Lol! Good resolution! And MUAHAHA! 🤣 Good news--you have almost a year, and since the theme is "age of rapier", anything from the 15th century through 1930 works, so you may already have something!
@@FantasticalFolliesCostuming Wow, thanks! Although, where would be the fun if I don't make something from a new to me era, and and stay up all night finishing it before I go!! (By that, I mean, hand-sewing at the airport, on the flight, and at their house, haha!)
Great gusset tutorial! I'll have to make the camicia but I doubt I'd be able to make any Italian Renaissance gown - still beyond my sewing skills. I love the green gown you made for the 16th century event (which looks fabulous by the way). I wish we had something like this in the mid-west. Was your green gown made out of cotton as well? 🧡💙
My serious New Year's resolution is to set goals and work towards them. My silly resolution is not to have 10+ craft projects (sewing, crochet, cross-stitch, embroidery, etc.) on the go at once.
Gave me the biggest dose of endorphines to see you get back to Renaissance stuff I used the same pattern you did (DAMN is that a lot of fabric but so fun and floofy) and didn't expect to love the era's fashion as much as I ended up doing What is it with the Italian Renaissance that just converts you... sneakily?! XD
Gussets do suck. I learned to cut the gusset out with the sleeve so I no longer had to deal with it. It's under my arms so nobody will really be able to notice if it's not done. And there are extant examples where they're done this way. But, if ya gotta piece your fabric then ya gotta piece your fabric.

"Nobody's going to say anything about it and if they do, I'll kick them." is a fantastic sewing vibe. 😂👍
There has never been a time when I've sewn a gusset the correct way the first time LOL
LOL!! Same 🤣
I once did French seamed gussets right the first time and now I’m terrified I’ve used up all the gusset luck for my lifetime 😅
I just finished a camicia and am about to start working on an Italian Renaissance dress, so this is timely!
Awesome! Love it!
It looks great!! As always I enjoy your editing and whale content.
Thank you! 😁

SAME! Love it! 🤩
Yay! I'm embarking on a camicia very soon, myself!
Awesome!! I can't wait to see it!

FLOOOOOFY!!!!
😁 SO floofy!
It looks amazing! Gussets are hard everyone has problems with them but the end result makes them worth it.
Thank you! And right? Like, they shouldn't be--once they're in it makes sense--but somehow, EVERY time... 🤣

LOL! Well, even if it wasn't the surprise you wanted, at least it now fits! 😆

I'm making a gamurra and camicia, Firenze style. Your video is helpful, ty
Awesome! Timing A+! Thanks for watching ☺️
LOL how many times have I done gussets now, and I almost always put one in wrong every frigging time.

Now I want one
Fully encourage it! 😃
Just me or this version of underwear is even more piratey than the "pirate" underwear?
HAH! I totally see that 🤣🏴☠️

LOL! Well...at least you have plenty of options to work on? 🤣 Good luck!
@@FantasticalFolliesCostuming And plenty more in my mind itching to be made. 🤣Thank you! 😁

Yay! It's definitely a fun era. I'd like to explore it a little more in the future!
