The woman who does my scan every year almost breaks my ribs! She takes both her hands on the probe and pushes down so hard and the pushes up so hard I think she is going to bust my liver! I hate getting a scan because I hurt so bad during and after the scan! She is not a nice person either. Watching all of these scans, It does not look like they do it the way she does! I think she hates her job!
She must be giving compression to visualise organs clearly, usually compression is given in fatty patient but usually it doesn't hurt much, if it hurts ask her to be gentle.
Thanks for the comment. I usually do longitudinal views of the liver for POCUS purposes to be honest. Mainly looking for size, echogenicity, any obvious masses, etc. If I see something on the longitudinal view I will do a transverse view to better characterize the structure of interest. Hope that helps.
Had one done they said I had a defused fatty liver what does that mean to the layman
Do I need to shave the hair on my belly? I have an abdominal ultrasound next week
Hi. No you don't have to. The gel they use should be able to see through the hair just fine!
