  • In today's vlog we have a home vlooooooog! We start the day with a little nursery update and we talk about the theme we're planning on going with in his room. We look at some of things we've got so far for his room and then we head to Target for some more stuff lol. We find some cool stuff at Target and of course we get more baby clothes. Then we have a little clothes haul to show you what we got and show you the nursery so far, we have our wallpaper sample up on the wall and some paint samples to see what color we should pick for the other walls. What color did you like best, let us know in the comments down below! Then we talk a little more about how Jenn's feeling at this point in the pregnancy and give a little update. After that we make some chicken burritos from a Plated recipe and call it night! Thanks for watching and we'll see you tomorrow with a new vid!

    My best tip from when my kids were babies: double sheet the crib. By this I mean put a rubber type waterproof pad down then the fitted crib sheet over it. On top of the sheet place another rubber sheet and topped by a second fitted sheet. Many times in the middle of the night when you go in to feed him you will find that he has either spit up (totally normal) or peed through his diaper so the sheet is wet. To remake the bed you have to turn the lights on, get new sheets etc. but when you double sheet you just reach down, grab the top two layers and pull them off. You then still have a fresh set. Hope this helps.

    Baby tips: Gerber cloth diapers are the BEST used as burp clothes. Most burp clothes you buy do not absorb the amount of liquid that comes out of your child. Yes this has happened to me. Also get the a little cloth pads to put on top of the changing table cover. It will save you from having to wash the cover constantly! I love how excited Tim is in the planning process! Congrats again!

    Jen, if you don’t have one already a “belly band” can help a lot with pain and discomfort as you get farther along. I had hip dysplasia and pelvic separation when I was pregnant both times and it helped so much because it supports your belly and helps relieve some of the pressure. Just wanted to suggest that if your having a lot of discomfort.

      @mrsbee2645 5 лет назад +5

      Jen Resh I was just going to mention onesies. I know everyone is different, but mine basically lived in onesies . Some really cute ones, but just easy on/off. Formal outfits are cute, but once you start putting clothes on him, you’ll see what we mean. Have fun and trust yourselves.

    • @christinad4282

      Agree. I have so many dresses my daughter never wore. Onesies and cheap ones at that so I don’t feel so bad when they get ruined.

    • @SRose-vp6ew
      @SRose-vp6ew 5 лет назад +2

      Babies can sleep 20 out of 24 hours a day. Many keep them in thin sleeper or onesie and swaddle all the time or even diaper and wrap but you could also keep them in a more formal outfit all the time or put it on when you go out. Many newborns also need light on the skin a few times a day for 10 minutes at a time and are often in need of being in just a diaper for that. Baby outfits are so cute and when you only have one it's fun to play dress up even if it's more work. They are blessed to both work from home so hopefully they won't be as sleep deprived and be able to truly sleep when baby sleeps and figure out their new flow to life.

      I agree with this. That is one of the reasons we ignored everyones suggestions to wash EVERYTHING ahead of time. We returned a lot for our 9lb 7oz baby and saved a few things with tags to give as gifts to other expecting friends. If you take all the tags off and wash everything you can't return it.

      Yes, it would be a tremendous blessing to a pregnancy help center if they donated what they end up not needing or only use lightly. They said they plan to donate today so I have a feeling that's what they plan to do if they don't get to use all the cloths. It is a great tip that if your on a budget you should wait to wash and save receipts. Love that!

    You should save all those receipts not open anything yet and find yourself a Kids Consignment sale. I think there should be some coming up in September. You could probably get those for less than half price and in great condition. On top of what you could probably get the whole baby wardrobe for the price of half of the things that you bought. Check them out. They truly are the way to go.

    For my sons hospital bag I packed two newborn outfits and two 0-3 month outfits two sets of mittens and two sets of socks. Had he been born in winter I would have packed two blankets for the car. I am thankful I packed my breastfeeding pillow though! Was a life saver. You can never pack to much for the hospital! I went in to be induced and wound up having a c section and stayed in the hospital for four nights five days. so I was extremely glad I packed extra for both me and my boy and husband.

    When I had my son I read a really good tip about taking a ziplock bag with a complete newborn outfit including nappy and another one with a complete up to 1 month outfit with a slightly larger nappy just in case and that was such a good idea as my partner ended up having to dress him b/c I had an emergency c section, and he was super tired and overwhelmed as well so it was just a really convenient way of doing it! There was no searching through the bag for clothes / nappies.

    One more idea regarding the first outfit... in your excited supply shopping, be on the lookout for a plush the same size as the outfit you choose for going home. Then, when that important and adorable outfit gets quickly too small, instead of joining the others in the storage-or-donate, dress the plush in it. We did this and it is such a treasured keepsake now; and, Teddy (now 4) just loves seeing what size he was and what he was wearing when he came home for the first time.
    We love you both! Can’t wait to share in your ongoing joy.

    When I was pregnant with my first child I had increasing back pain. It turned out that the baby was pressing against a ureter. As babies grow and move they can put pressure on sensitive areas. At one point the doctor had to put a stint in to keep the ureter open. But in all honesty it is rare that the pressure is enough to close off the ureter. However, even intermittent pressure can cause lower back pain. Many blessings to all three of you as you continue this amazing adventure! 🥰

    Hi Tim and Jenn! Hearing you show all the outfits and also talk about donating clothes cross referenced a suggestion I can offer. When we were getting ready (I know it’s easy to always want to do more in the excitement of waiting!), we looked for and bought a few large clear totes, which we pre-prepped with labels of sizes... one for newborn, one for 0-3 mos, etc. Then, as Teddy grew out of sizes, we could collect each size in one tote, wash and fold them all one last time to say goodbye as we pack them in, and seal them up. That way, they are super-safe stored for reuse, or for giving away... and believe me, handled and stored that way, it is absolute *gold* to the next parent recipient (whether a friend or a stranger in need), who then is also armed with the means to do the same themselves and keep passing along. Especially the smallest adorable outfits that inevitably get so little wear by the time so much growing happens so fast!

    Tim, you’re going to be such a great Dad. Your Dad jokes are at their peak. Don’t forget about a sling/baby carrier. I used a Moby wrap when mine were newborns and then transitioned to a soft structured carrier when they were 3 months. They were absolute lifesavers when it came to actually being able to do anything other than sit and hold the baby. My personal favorite is the Kindercarry brand. As far as the clothes go, take a newborn outfit and a 0-3 months one. Predicting how big the baby will be is actually really difficult to do via ultrasound so it’s better to be prepared. They thought my eldest child was going to be 9lbs and he came out 7lbs 6oz and they thought my youngest was going to be 7.5 lbs and he was 8lbs 7oz. So excited for you!

    Hey Tim! I’m a dental hygienist and sometimes bleach can burn your gums if the strip is touching the gum tissue. That’s one downfall of the strips, they don’t fit well and often can burn the tissue. Keep doing the warm salt water rinses and discontinue bleaching or cut back to every couple days. Avoid sour, acidic, citrus and spicy foods. It shouldn’t take more then a couple days to heal up. Hope you feel better soon!

    Especially having a baby in near the fall/winter (not to mention cold & flu season), don't forget to stock up for yourselves for things you may forget to avoid so many last minute runs to the store about but also self-care being at home with a newborn can be lonely and overwhelming so maybe so facemasks, magazines, a couple books, stock up on podcasts you love for late night feedings when he won't go right back to sleep. New nail polishes, little things to make you feel like you. Birth can be daunting, so don't be afraid to treat yourself a little mama. Lastly they make coffee for moms that is less acidic, and has added nutrients that's a life saver in those first weeks.

    I highly recommend getting waterproof pads that are covered in flannel/soft cloth in a variety of sizes. I used small ones when I was breastfeeding to keep milk from getting onto the nursing pillow, medium sized ones on the changing pad, and also crib sized ones under the crib sheet. I'd also place them under my babies whenever I had them in our bed. Also, get a waterproof mattress pad for your own bed to save your bed from getting wet from any leaks and spit up from the baby. I still find all the waterproof pads useful in various situations now and my youngest is 7 years old. Another tip is to bring your nursing pillow to the hospital -- it is so helpful for positioning the baby when you are first learning to breastfeed instead of trying to use regular pillows to help position yourself and the baby. Congratulations!

    Love those swaddle up (grey) swaddles, it was so easy to use and they make larger sizes that let the baby have their arms out when they learn to roll over. So much easier than trying to swaddle, especially if you have a LO that wiggles out easily.
