I work for a large scale network operator in the UK and have a lot of years of experience in this field. I was very excited about the ansible ecosystem originally, but I have to say it's the solution to a problem that doesn't exist. In reality, it is bad practice to perform 'Automated Configuration Management ' on enterprise level equipment using a tool like Ansible. For large scale deployments, solutions like Cisco Prime/DNA Center are the standards. I can see value in the centralised management of Linux systems with ansible - in the same way you would manage a Microsoft system with AD / Group policy for example.. But to autonomously manage life and death type systems with Ansible modules that some dude has knocked up with Python would personally keep me awake at night.
