The Chuckwagon Gang,The Speer Family,The Stamps Quartet,The Happy Goodmans,The Statesmen,Golden Echoes, and The Kingsmen were all an integral part of my dad’s childhood and mine as well.
This is the first gospel group I ever heard. My uncle was sitting on the edge of the kitchen woodbox, crying. Then I heard the music and The Chuck Wagon gang were singing "If I could hear my Mother pray again". This is a REAL Precious Memory for me!
My mommy and daddy LOVED their music!
The CWG played a huge part in my lifelong love for gospel music......their music and the Broadman Hymnal were precious to me in the 1940s and continues to this day....praise the Lord!
Me too, ever since Mom and Dad brought home a record of them singing "Echoes from the Burning Bush... back in 1950. I was 10 years old and I was hooked on Gospel quartet music... I love the harmony. I have listened to it all my life.. At 83 , I have listened to many.
I'am 68 years old and the chuck wagon gang was my dear departed mothers favorite group.

Their pure harmony if not obscured by lots of drums, electric guitars, etc.

I do, very often, sit and listen to this particular makeup of artists. Especially I like to put on my headphones so that they are directly "in my ears"! Sometimes I get out my gospel song books and sing along. I know most of the words. Dave's voice is spot on with the bass notes that are written in the song book. Julie and Penny (also Shaye, when she's with them,) harmonize so beautifully and of course, it goes without saying that Stan has just about the purest tenor around! Oh, my they're good!
My Grandmother loved them and she is why I still listen today! Good music does not go out of style

I think this is my favorite version of the Chuck Wagon Gang. RIP Dave. He was a fantastic bass singer.
Our church choir has sung this song for 26 years and has always sang it as written just like in this video. I'm a fan of this version versus the version that Hovie Lister and the Statesmen did that everybody seems to copy.

I've been listening to them for over 65 years. None better.
I'm a very sad favorite hospital group. My favorite was a good and is there a bedroom? There's a bedroom that's bedroom for that quit. Got where you couldn't walk, but even after a few years she took care of me. In there's a program came on a radio station out of New Orleans. And the redemption was in. She said she can call them since 1940. Maybe I got some uses so I'll cast your heart with good spirit. Filters like this one, especially if it gives.

Which one is Shaye?
The dark haired lady singing alto. She is the granddaughter of one of the original Chuckwagon Gang(Ruth, I think).
She is the darkhaired beauty with the most Classical singing voice I've ever heard in gospel music. One can easily hear the voice training she's had and the perfection in the quality of her voice.
She is Anna's Granddaughter. In the pictures shown before you see the group - Anna is the lady without glasses.

Hi I'm Barry real name Anthony my great grandfather has a quartet it's called ward brothers quartet please check it out and leave a comment my great grandfather was in the Korean war my great grandfather was in the middle with his 3 brothers Howard Ward Jimmie Ward and Eddie Ward my great grandfather name is J.D Ward him and Howard where in the military J.D was in the navy Howard was a staff sergeant or drill sergeant
Jimmie has short arms also Eddie is the young one J.D is the 2ed oldest the oldest was his sister Helen Howard has red hair. Sadly Jimmy Howard and J.D is dead Eddie is still alive with their sisters Howard was in a horrible accident car crash when crashed which was a few years ago he was split in two and his skull crushed Jimmie died at a normal age and J.D died in a surgery in 1981 a heart surgery then afterwards his wife (Barbra ward) was given the purple heart for his service during the Korean war I sadly didn't see him but I have 1picture of him in his navy suit on his aircraft carrier and his quartet with his brothers.
