I don’t see any reasons to throw hates on her for getting a solo for this album. She has that vocal, the talent, she is a singer, her passion is singing and I am not saying that Jennie, Jisoo and Lisa don’t have all of that in them, they do. Blackpink as a whole is talented as F, but I’m glad that the team saw this as an opportunity for Roseanne to showcase her capabilities more. I think the company just thought she deserved it as YG has NEVER given her the opportunities most main vocalists get in kpop. They refused to let her do kdrama soundtracks, turned down collabs, doesn’t let her release the songs she wrote for the group, kept delaying her solo era for years and then her solo song got leaked anyway which ruined the surprise.
This song is beyond great! Her voice on this is AMAZING!!! I get that a solo on the album scares fans. But the hate is unwarranted. My guess is that they probably did a version with all of them singing on it. And she probably did a demo of just her alone. And they just decided it sounded better with just one voice on it. The same way they always say they don't plan which lines are in english, korean or Japanese. They just leave it whichever way they think it sounds better. So some songs they record all in korean,.. some all in english. I'll bet there was no direct message intended,..it prolly just sounded better with her voice alone. But they get criticized and hate for every move they make and everything they do (so we get songs like Shut Down clapping back at toxic critics). I guess it because they are on top. And it brings more numbers to try to knock them down. I love them, i love this album.
