Fun fact about Bern. It is not the official Swiss capital, it only functions as it by seating the country‘s parliament which is why it‘s generally regarded as the capital. Technically, Switzerland doesn‘t have a capital since there‘s no law stating this in the constitution. The reason for this is that the country would stay decentralized and no city would be more important than the others. Btw I love your geography videos, they‘re really relaxing
I’m from Tórshavn originally. Nice city/town. Though, I live in Denmark now. ☺️ Highly recommend visiting the Faroe Islands if anyone wants to try their hand at solo traveling, and feel worried about their safety traveling alone. It’s one of the safest places on the planet and has all the modern amenities you could wish for. Almost everyone is also proficient enough in English that speaking English shouldn’t be an issue.
New subscriber here☺️ I really like your atlas/map videos (watched almost all within a week🤣)! I would definitely enjoy more videos of Africa since I'm not very familiar with the continent🙂 greetings from Finland!
Nice! You should do a video checking Regions of European Countries, Like Spain, For Example! Oh, also, I will order an Archive Map of a ''Comarca'' in Catalonia! It's from 2003.
the reason why Finlands’ capital is so close to Russia is exactly what you’d think; Russia wanted to have more power over Finland when Finland was autonomous part of Russia.. The capital was actually changed from Turku to Helsinki in 1812!
Great, a new vídeo for a good night to sleep! 👌❤️ I love your videos and I would like to be able to be awake to learn something with them, but I always fell asleep 😅
Yessss I love these kinds of videos !!! Also I never understood why we still translate the names of cities and countries. I mean, we do have the knowledge to learn how to pronounce stuff correctly so why not? 🤔
Belarus doesn't mean "white russia". The word "Belarus" is derived from the Belarusian words for "white" and "Rus," which referred to ancient East Slavic states. The term "Rus" was used to describe a group of East Slavic peoples in medieval times. Over centuries, different states formed and dissolved in the region. "Belarus" emerged as the name for the modern state, and its meaning is rooted in the historical and cultural identity of the Belarusian people.
Interesting, the Dutch name for Belarus is just literally 'White Russia' (Wit-Rusland in Dutch) although most people will know what you're talking about if you say Belarus.
@@biglad1311During Soviet times when the republic was part of USSR it had name 'Belorussia' (literally "white russia"). But the independent country is actually called 'Belarus'. The older name stuck in many languages, but things are changing. For example, Norway and Sweden have both decided to use 'Belarus' in official documents, instead of their older terms (Hviterussland, Vitryssland), even though the old name might still be used. This change was done in recent years to recognize Belarusian sovereignty and national identity.
The Aral Sea is not really drying out because of the pestizids, whole story behind it goes back to Soviet times, when all the "Stan countries" were part of the Union. Back than the Soviets wanted to export cotton (which i think was a lacking product behind the iron curtain for all the communist states) and desided to put it right into the desert there because of the 2 big rivers, Armudarya and Syrdarya, which were feeding immense amounts of water to the Aral Sea. They build a big irrigation system, turned the desert into gold, but now the lake was getting no or very few water. And being situated in a desert, well, especially with that big surface, the evaporation rate is kinda high and this way the lake is drying out since the 60s. And it's hard to change it back now, because this irrigation system made populations grow around both rivers and u cant just remove their livelihood and feed the lake water again.
Thw Ukrainian capital is Kyiv, located on the river Dnipro, the map is old as rhe names were derived from russian when Ujraine was the larrt of the USSR
Sorry to confuse you but you spell Kiev and Dnepr as a Russian transliteration. ( I think it’s because of old translation in your book). We use Kyiv (and Dnipro) instead officially since 1998, but commonly since 2018. You may read about the campaign KyivNotKiev in Wiki. 😊

My stress: 📉
An interesting fact is that no one in Bulgaria calls the name of the capital as the name Sofia. It is actuality, Sófia.
