hi ,we are trying to balance a mandrel before starting part balancing activity , but we are not able to get consistent reading ( repeatability) do you have any idea about what may be wrong
There are several conditions which can cause inconsistent readings, but do let me know the type of balancing machine you are using (hard-bearing or soft-bearing, horizontal or vertical) 1. Bad journal surfaces and / or bad roller bearings. 2. Too much belt-tension (belt forces can influence the unbalance readings, especially at low unbalance levels) 3. Make sure the belt sections from the idler rollers up to the mandrel are running parallel and in a vertical direction. 4. Make sure the mandrel is not pushing to much against the left or right end-stop (end-thrust forces can influence the unbalance readings, especially at low unbalance levels) 5. Ensure that the mandrel is not spinning near or at a resonance (check rigidity of mandrel and machine base); try running at a different balancing speed.
@@tanmayranade9821 You can test if the problem is from the machine itself or from the mandrel, by measuring the mandrel while mounted to the balancing machine. Test 1: Measure 5 times, without stopping the machine. If the variations between results are smaller than than balancing tolerance for the mandrel, you can go to Test 2. Test 2: Measure 5 times, but this time stop the machine after each measurement. If the variations between results are smaller than than balancing tolerance for the mandrel, you can go to Test 3. Test 3: Measure 5 times, but this time stop the machine after each run, remove the mandrel, re-mount the mandrel and measure again. If the variations between results are smaller than than balancing tolerance for the mandrel, your machine and mandrel are OK. Can you tell me which of these tests is failing?
Unbalance corrections can be made by either adding material at the light spot or removing material at the heavy spot. Adding and removing can be done in so many different ways. The software offers programs for drilling, milling, welding, adding clips, adding tape, moving set screws, adding bar stock, filling mass pockets...

How can you correct it? Except removing material?
