- In this chapter, we purchase a bus on behalf of our friend, from a guy that very specifically doesn't want to sell it to our buddy.
With the vehicle in hand, we explore it's history and work hard to get it running. Will it drive?
Update: This bus is now running but not yet driving- it should be on the road very soon!
Another fun, good time, entertaining video. Looking forward to part two, in the meantime I will be binge watching your other videos to get caught up on what I've been missing out on :)
This brings back some memories to our Town and Country station wagon that needed a little hammer to the starter and also had a nice glowing red catalytic converter also. Thanks for sharing.
“If you can’t fix it with a hammer- it’s an electrical problem”- except in this case….. lol
I am taking notes. learning for my VW Kombi
I remember back in the 60s....we had a Ford station wagon that my mom kept a hatchet in the front seat si when it didn't crank she could bang on things under the hood so it would crank. One time we were st the grocery store, it wouldn't crank, she took the hatchet and started to bang, a man came up and asked if he could help, and she lifted her head with that hatchet in her hand and said no thank you....the man hurried away!! Lol! Love your videos!! Always good for a few laughs 😃! From Montgomery al ❤️ 💕
Oh I’ve done that! A hatchet or a baseball bat (or both!) are great for that!
Them rodents were cooked to perfection! Feature of the plugged cat is pressure cooking. Very nice. Loved this one my friend. Always a great story. Some dude hates my friend and I want to help friend buy bus from guy. Weirdness ensues. Doesn’t get better. Always learn a few things when I watch. Learn more when I rewatch.
Hahaha. Yep- that’s a pretty good summary!
What was your favorite part?
Hi Craig, I have really enjoyed watching your videos. I appreciate your Syncro fever and I share your enthusiasm for 'Vanagons' aka t3 camper in the UK. I have a 1981 T3 Camper (not Westfalia) but German built in a similar vein. It is a project that has been sat on my driveway almost a year. Thanks for helping to inspire me to get Herman the German Camper fixed up 👍🏻
Awesome man! I’m glad we could inspire! What’s your favorite part of this video?
@@TheBarefootForge my favourite part of the video is when you use that massive hammer to hit the starter when you gave up on testing electrical things. Your videos made me realise my engine has run out of coolant juices, so that definitely needs attention 👍🏻👍🏻
@@Richard.blackburn you need some of the juices, but do ya need them all? Who knows!
@@TheBarefootForge haha oil is OK, so far brakes are good. I keep turning him over and moving him so he doesn't sieze up. He's got a 1.9 td Aaz engine so he should be good to drive. Wish he had a syncro though so I could turn him into an overlander 😎
My Dad had a mk 1 Golf van aka Rabbit so the dash and style is nostalgic 👌🏻
@@Richard.blackburn that aaz is a great setup! You can build a great overlander with a 2wd! Get some tires, some lift springs, and give it a full send!
Wait till ya see the next chapter In the doka build, it got all the cool parts despite being only 2wd, it’ll “go”.
Awesome filming again guys - quickly becoming my favourite channel to watch 👍🏼
Thanks for the support! I’m glad we could take ya with us on yet another great bus journey! What was your favorite part?
The wireless gas pedal must have been exclusive to the 1986 and a half models 🤣 that cat glowing was mightily impressive 🔥 loving the videos as always 😎🇬🇧
Thanks buddy! I’m glad you enjoyed it!
The gas pedal is Bluetooth!
@@TheBarefootForge the wonders of 80s technology 🤣
I love this videos, would be great to load up Vanagon full of parts and tools and go save another one.
That’s what we do!
In fact we just got another parts bud which will be harvested into bits to save a few more!
Great vid guys, you are the vanagon whisperers !
That’s an honor!
I enjoyed your programs 2nite. My grandma said programs instead of shows.
@39:20 that "ooooohhhhhh" LMAO
Exactly!
Wow it's Friday, pouring rain, and I just bought a Vanagon too!
It happens! Whatcha get?
@@TheBarefootForge early 81 aircooled, saved from junkyard
Nice video thanks, was there a part 2?
Not yet. Someday maybe.
Will there be a part 2?
I want a vanagon in the future so I am trying to learn as much as I can! Where do they spray the WD-40 to make the belt move? and which belt is that?
We’re spraying wd40 into the cylinders through the spark plug holes, before trying to turn the engine over at all.
@@TheBarefootForge Thank you, never been into cars much. Fell in love with Eurovans/Vanagons a while back and trying to do all the maintenance on my own car to prep for it!
As the saying goes, you can't polish a turd but you can roll it in glitter.
I like that, I’ll bring some glitter!
Yep totally gagged when the mouse blanket came out
That’s their home!
Yep I looked up lichen and it checks out. Creature.
Gota love a good creature!
"it's no gas no brakes" 🤣
That’s fine! Those are simply accessories!
@@TheBarefootForge hahahahahaha
Do you guys restore VW Rialtas ?
Not unless you built one on a vanagon platform with the engine in the back.
But I should say, if you’ve got one that needs rescued- we’re always down for a good rescue, and we do have a club member at least vaguely interested in owning a Rialto.
Dude i wanna see more of the doka
More doka videos coming soon- stay tuned! Also, lots of content on Instagram.
Man you guys have me convinced I need a Vanagon. Can you save me one or two?
Ya man, I can assist you in finding you the perfect bus- I’d be glad to work with you as a consultant! Send me an email, craig@thebarefootforge
Deja vu
What is the worst foot injury you have sustained wearing flip flops in the shop 🤣
The pain to my soul and emotional damage from folks at a keyboard- it frequently radiates through my toes.
Watched 10 videos, you always say check the links below and there’s never a link!😅
A little salty I’d say. That lift has to be worth some denaro.
A lift has a lot of good value, for sure!
your information is great, your jokes are not.
I’m open to suggestions- tell me a joke.
