Thank you for video "detailing" which components to "transfer" to the new data port connector assembly! Good idea to test the data port connector assembly before closing up the phone.
Go Cell Phone Repair Hello. And thank you very much for this tutorial. I have a question and I'd be very grateful if you could help me with my issue. I had to replace my connector/headphone jack/mic because my bottom microphone suddenly stop working after I tried to replace a battery one day. I followed your instructions properly. I thought that replacement of connector/headphone jack/mic would help, but unfortunately, it wouldn't, bottom mic is still not working. Don't you know what problem could happen? I searched on google, so the users have the same issue and they also don't find any solution... I hope you can help me. Thank you
Were you sure to transfer the rubber piece from the old mic and route it inside of the plastic piece at the bottom? Without that the sound cannot get to it.
Go Cell Phone Repair Yes, sir. All the pieces stand perfectly on their places. The thing is that the microphone stop working after I opened the phone first time. For that moment I didn't replace any part.
Difficult to say but maybe something near the battery terminal was damaged during the first repair. If you have a microscope I would start by removing the logic board and inspecting all of the components in that area. If you accidentally knocked a chip off the board that might could cause this kind of problem.
I NEED HELP! MY IPHONE HAS BAD SIGNAL SINCE I DID THIS? ANY ADVICE? DOES THE ADHESIVE MATTER FOR THE SIGNAL? I mean I do have signal but is really bad. I'll thank you a lot if you can answer this. Thanks!
+Esteban Restrepo Reconnect the antenna wire. If that doesnt help then you might want to charge up the battery, put the old port back in and see if it works better. If so you might have a bad replacement part. The adhesive should not affect signal.
Very nice video, But how to get the right replacement for the charging port ? Is this something genuine parts available or from a normal repairing shop you can buy, specially these all are made in china parts. How to select the right one ?
Most original iPhone parts are made in China. At the moment the one linked in the video description was pulled from an AT&T phone and should be OEM. I'm not sure where you are located but buying a port that was pulled from an iPhone is probably the best way to be sure that it is original.
I like the way you do it, without worrying about removing some parts. The little black plastic part-handle on the top of the glue is actually to remove the glue; it is not very easy to pull it from under the battery completely, but it is possible, i have done it, and the good thing is that one you remove-pull that glue, the battery is free to take it out, and you don´t need to use glue again. I have no idea why Apple uses that kind of glue there that makes very hard to pull the battery, if you don´t remove the glue first.
Aw this video is was made before I realized how the tabs worked. Nowadays we do them like this: ruclips.net/video/7bqJMWY5yxs/видео.html on the days when they cooperate of course. It works most of the time like you said. The only thing that I can think of as far as the heavy duty adhesive goes is that maybe it decreases the chance that the battery will bang up against the inside of the LCD when the phone gets dropped. Just a theory. If you think those are a pain though try the iPod 6th gen I think it is. One tab is accessible but the other is upside down under the logic board. Impossible to even try pulling it out from under the battery.
A lot of things can go wrong with the 5S charging system. If you know that your charger and port are good then most likely it is an on-board component. The Tristar chip is the most common source. It fails frequently, especially if the phone is charged with a non-MFI lightning cable.
the reason why i replaced the lightning dock was, that the accu wont get loaded and after a few hours the iphone was totally empty. At first i cleaned the port from dust, nothing happend. Now the Replacement from the dock, nothing happend Could it be the accu?
Two gold prongs on the underside of the speaker. They make contact with the charging port flex but can get bent out of position. Otherwise there may be damage to, or a defect in, the charge port. Make sure there are no tears in the cable too.
wish to note that almost got shock when the new dock totally refused to work, problem was that connecting dock cable to mainboard is extremely tricky, i had to try until it worked, all in all extremely unpleasant experience, totally recommend trusting this for repair shop if possible, though I guess they could charge a lot as it is high risk exercise, and far from easiest things
At 11:55 you glossed over the removal of that adhesive pad. You also glossed over the removal of the battery, telling us it will be covered later. At 13:00, your explanations and descriptions were unclear, and the critical parts were invisible, obscured by your hands.
THAT WAS FUCKING ADHESIVE ON THE BACK OF THE MIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FUCK, that's the problem! Really hope taking that off will make my mic work. You sir are a legend.
+Go Cell Phone Repair nah, no matter quality it's the best vid on here about this. That did fix my problem. I'm kinda new to internal electrical repairs so didn't work out the flappy bits on side of electrical components were pull points and just cut them off haha
Ive watched about 10 demos. You’re the only one assessing the fingerprint reader issue
Brilliant - worked a treat. Only took me four hours but phone now works.

The Best I have seen so far !!!! Thank you so much !!!
Thanks a lot for this video. The iFixit steps were clearly not enough.
so i replaced the lightning port like in your video but the phone won't get charged. Can the accu may be also damaged???

Could it be the accu?
By accu are you referring to the battery? If so then yes it could be the battery itself or a number of components that make up the charging system.
Great Video, successfully completed the repair! Thank you!
Thanks and congrats.
Where is the speaker connected to the phone system? My sound is gone after I replace the charger port. I did fix the charging problem.

thanks! this helped and my phone works now
Whoa! No easy task! I "was" intending on doing this repair myself, but... yeah, gonna find repair person. 😉

Thanks for help, it work!:))
Thanxx good job
MUCH LOVE!!!!!
You forgot the ground strap from the headphone jack to the back of the headphone jack.
You need zoom in feature for these kinda videos.
This is an old video and even the lighting is bad. I'll redo it if I come across another 5S.
Boom! It turned black once he pried. LOL
Anyways, thanks for sharing!
God I wish in just one video, they would actually focus on the fingerboard reader. I can't see with your fingers blocking the way
we cant see clear enough
Yeah that was shot with poor lighting. Will redo when I can.
