Sorry this took so long to do! Really wanted to check out the endings and really wanted Joe the loremaster here to help theorycraft, but I love what most of these set up for the future! Which was your favorite!
The reiko hate is crazy, reiko in game is basically a spartan, and in the old games was literally noob saibot before they gave it to bihan, all I really know is MK Armageddon was the worst game besides mk special forces, it was wack from the storyline to the the way they handled characters. You did say that reiko calls shao khan daddy, bro he literally raised and trained him his is his father smh, and idk what world yall live in but all I know shao khan in the original storyline is the man period and he is worthy of praise especially by his general who saw his leader conquer the realm of the God's(edenia) most people that hate on reiko don't know loyalty nor no one has been loyal to them. It's funny we forget how sometime we wish we was other people so bad especially when they are successful. remember only Liu kang could beat shao khan and that's cause the plot armor, let's remember shao khan killed onaga 2x ones by poison the second time brute force, if reiko wants to serve under shao khan with respect and honor.... shit I don't see the problem it's just baffling how there's no Quan chi noob saibot and the whole of the shinnok meat riders Gshit shao khan had to die for him to be able to do anything... what I can I agree with you is reiko is a jobber especially in mk1
Tarkat was outside of lui kang's controll bc he turned them all into edenians, even though originally they were a race of cannibals. The disease was a side effect of lui kang trying to fix it but not knowing how
@@eltinoskimotawhile people do tend to wish to be the same as their idols or gaurdians, the fact that's literally ALL reiko has as a character is the problem, there's nothing really unique about him other than just being a simp for shao and being brutal as hell..
Bro, Johnny’s ending was literally explaining how Liu Kang’s plan was for Johnny to reveal the whole concept of the realms and magic and stuff to of Earthrealm through his movies. He’s not just making movies, he’s making biopics to explain the realms to regular Earth people (and also prolly make Johnny fairly rich). This is kinda a HUGE deal, cuz early on in the game we learn that most people on Earth don’t really know about the existence of Outworld and other realms.
Considering that in the 2nd Era (MK9-11) the people only got to know of the other realms by force (The Invasion) so learning them by movies instead is definitely a softee approach
@@omnibeta1876Exactly the point, it’s Liu Kangs era, he wants peace among the realms. This could legit setup fun inter-realm interactions between Earthrealm and Outworld that we’ve never seen before before they’ve either been outright at war or have a strained relationship in the past. Like, we could eventually get to a point where you just have a Shokan dude in a custom 4-sleeve sports jacket reading their nook at a regular Earthrealm café.
I completely agree! It was a little frustrating they didn’t realize that we can get more action from earthrealm in the future. I always felt that outworld had all the cool stuff so I’d love to see earthrealm become more developed.
I don't blame Liu Kang for fucking over Shao in this timeline. I'd do the same if a guy made me a cripple, took my 10k year old waifu, and killed my best friend while his thot wife killed everyone else.
The thing is he didn't even fuck over Shao that badly. Not compared to what he tried to do to Shang Tsung and Quan Chi. He kept Shao in a relatively prestigious position and, by giving Shao a peace-loving father and a more humble upbringing, hoped to give Shao a chance to stay on the straight and narrow. Were it not for the intervention of Titan Shang Tsung, he just might have.
He still hates Earthrealm..if Raiden lose a fight against him in the match, He planned to have a war with Earthrealm (with that said, He probably still remain loyal to Sindel if Intervention doesn't happen)@@mettatonex7221
Liu Kang couldn't just NOT give people tarkat, it's stated several times that he set the timeline in motion but after that all he could do was guide it as best he could. He wasn't capable of crafting every detail to perfection, it's the reason Kronika kept restarting the timeline, shit kept going off the rails. Because once you craft the basic building blocks all you can do is watch and hope things turn out the way you want them to. It's the reason Liu Kang relinquished his Keeper of Time abilities in the first place. Imagine if he took pity on the tarkatans and restarted the timeline to try to prevent the disease from occurring, but then something else falls out of place and he restarts it again. Pretty soon he'd end up as crazy as Kronika, which he himself also stated.
JOHNNY REVEALING THE EXISTENCE OF OUTWORLD TO EARTHREALM DOESN'T DO ANYTHING FOR YOU?! THERE'S SO MUCH YOU CAN DO WITH OUTWORLD AND EARTHREALM PROPERLY MINGLING!
@@P_Bdit makes sense cause those 2 only got power cause of titan shang remember the only reason on the game happens in universe is cause TS dicked around in Liu timeline
@@NPVG2that's something that's been around since 1992, he tells everyone of his adventures but Hollywood and the general public think they're make believable but as long as people kept showing up, he didn't mind
I remember he said he made shao a loyal general to Sindel but he still became evil, but I don’t remember him ever saying anything about redeeming shang or quanch. He himself stated he gave both of the sorcerers meaningless lives, with Shang being a huckster and Quan chi being forced to work in a mine. He didn’t want them redeemed he just wanted to make sure they wouldn’t learn sorcery to become evil by giving them useless lives, but it still happened due to titan shang tsung.
Nah I’m p sure like when he said that it was with vitriol(talking about shang and quanch), and he stated he wanted them to have meaningless and fruitless lives, nothing about redeeming themselves. Shao he was able to redeem though just making him a loyal general of sindel.
@@Dajobertomans in an intro dialogue with Shang Liu does state that he had hoped the life he gave Shang would have reformed him. Geras in another intro with Shang states that Shang had a good childhood. Liu definitely wanted to redeem Shang by giving him the most average life he could live, Shang just wanted to sell snake oil cause he's a scammer.
I honestly like that all of the endings this time around are cohesive epilogues to the story mode... Hopefully next MK will be about Onaga being freed and showing off his zombie enslavement power that was only hinted at in Deception's character bios... Possibly taking advantage of Bi-Han's Teknukin Initiative to give himself a modern Dragon Army...
Just to clear up some mistakes that you guys may have missed: With Shang Tsung, it’s not implying that he found and is stealing Johnny’s Green Glow, which Raiden said was a hereditary power bestowed by the gods to a Mediterranean war cult to be warriors for them, nor is it implying that he is building his Deadly Alliance temple, though that it a possibility. What it is truly happening is that Shang found his island, the one where the first Mortal Kombat tournaments were held in the previous timeline, or at least the events of the first Mortal Kombat game and the redepicted in MK9, as well as finding the Well of Souls that made Shang such a monster of villain. With Mileena, I’d say that it isn’t 100% peaceful and does have some ramifications. Now, all of Outworld knows that Mileena has Tarkat and whilst Mileena said that she won over some of her doubters there could still be ones that could plot against her. And she still has Tarkat, it’s just that they have a serum to cure her symptoms Temporarily. They will need to continue to administer her this cure to keep her looking fully Edenian, but now that Shang Tsung is missing, there is an underlying worry that they will run out of it and that Mileena may still go feral and may even need to be put down and replaced, maybe by Kitana. Speaking of which, Kitana’s, Shao’s, and Reiko’s all kind of fit in with each other, with Shao’s going first by revealing that he escaped prison and his rallying new troops for his army, then Kitana’s lines up in the timeline by showing that she lead a successful assault on Shao’s forces, destroyed many of them and drove Shao to retreat, this then fits in with Reiko’s ending where he says that the recruitment and training of the soldiers is going bad, presumably because of their defeat by Kitana, and thus leading to Shao wanting to use Onaga and having Reiko potentially sacrifice himself to tame the beast. With Baraka, whilst the idea of the Tarkatans fighting for Mileena is an interesting idea, there is a problem still with bringing them into the fold of the army. Tarkatans here aren’t the species that they once were in the previous timelines, they are infected with a disfiguring and debilitating disease known as Tarkat that turns into Tarkatans. Not only I’m is the disease contagious meaning having them in the army presents a danger into infecting everyone, it is also debilitating and eventually breaks down their minds to become nothing more than savage beasts with no intelligence, it’s what ultimately killed Baraka’s family, they went mad before him and Baraka had to put them down before they hurt anyone. That danger is still present with Baraka and Mileena and what Baraka is saying in his ending is that he’s glad that his people are being shown compassion but his ultimate goal is to still find a permanent cure to Tarkat because all of them are on a time limit, so either find the cure and become normal again or become monsters in need of putting down. With Johnny, I highly disagree that is is pointless or goes nowhere, because it already has in Kenshi’s ending. Kenshi told Jax that the movies and stories that Johnny is making, the MKCU, are all real and that has Jax form the OIA so Johnny’s ending literally made the Special Forces equivalent in this timeline, which not only brings Jax into the story, and gives Kenshi an honest living and path moving forward, but could also introduce Sonya Blade, Johnny’s potential future wife if they are going to bring back the Kombat Kids at some point, which they might seeming as Kung Lao has revealed the existence of Kung Jin, Kenshi and Suchin are still going to be a thing, and Jax is now here which likely means Sonya isn’t far behind, unless they have Johnny get with someone else. We also still don’t know if Johnny still has his god-slaying Mediterranean war cult powers but we do see that he does still has some sort of magic power in his attacks that might just be called Shadow Power or Mirage Power. With Rain, I also highly disagree with your thoughts on Rain just because you want someone to be a bad guy, there’s a few more characters that can still be and could become bad, like Raiden previously, but Rain even if he is remorseful he still has just flood Orderrealm and killed presumably half a million people, there are major consequences to his actions and could set up major things for the future of the series, like a Rain redemption arc which would be something new for the character since he has always been a bad guy in the previous timelines so a switch up could work to make him more interesting. Also, he’s not a son of Argus anymore, the pre-fight fight dialogues, whilst some are debatable in their canonicity, still depict the characters thoughts after the main story and likely reflect on how the characters currently are or are in fact canon and true, and one of them Liu Kang revealed that he made Rain no longer a son of Argus, Rain’s just a regular Edenian, his mother is being punished for Rain’s crimes during Shao’s Rebellion, there is a new High Mage, and we even know Rain’s real name. The dialogues also reveal that Rain might not have any interest in joining Shao again and that Saido has survivors that fled to Outworld as refugees, including Hotaro, so Rain could also face the judgement of the very people he had attacked and may need to make amends by fighting Havik. P.S. Tavon and Dagon are mentioned in a Rain mirror match dialogue and it implies that they either don’t exist or just haven’t been seen yet. With Kung Lao, yeah it is more a Shujinko ending, but it doesn’t mean that Shujinko won’t ever be bad. This ending reveals that Shujinko has the capability to be evil, and if the mind erasure that Liu Kang did wasn’t permanent or flawless, Shujinko could remember everything including how they robbed him of his previous strength and his potential which could have him become bitter and angry, enough to make him a villain again and one that could team up with Onaga willingly. He’s like Raiden, another would-be champion that could fall to the dark side, and isn’t that what you guys wanted for there to be more villains? As for Havik, or Dairo-Havik, yeah Titan Havik does seem interesting, but it could go in hand with Dairo-Havik and how he had toppled Orderrealm’s government. In one of his intro dialogues, Havik said that he would re-christen Orderrealm as Chaosrealm, so instead of the two being separate competing realms, they are one and the same just now with a name change after Rain flooded the place. I can see Titan Havik truly turning the place into Chaosrealm as his base and working with his sort-of counterpart, especially since more of Havik’s intro Dialogues have him saying that wants to his spread his anarchy to the rest of the realms, like Outworld and Earthrealm, the former especially because of the Saidan refugees. Hell, I could even see Titan Havik betray his counterpart given that he’s more Dairo that actually the OG Cleric of Chaos.
Dude, typing that big of a comment is crazy, honestly respect the dedication. I think Mileena may go crazy again. Like if Shao takes over the throne, she’ll be like symbiote spider-man and stop taking the cure in order to have more power and to fight. I also think Hanzo might become either the next Noob Saibot or the next Smoke. I wish Bi-Han could become Noob Saibot and have this dark romance with Sareena, but if that was the case, we wouldn’t have a Sub-Zero in the game, and that can’t happen. Someone has to be the cryomancer, but they’re still gonna do Noob Saibot. That leaves Smoke to become Noob while Hanzo, being his apprentice, keeps the Smoke mantle, or Hanzo turns bad and becomes Noob Saibot. There is more to this. Kuai Liang can become Noob and Hanzo can inherit his fire powers, but yeah, we don’t know yet I think they might bring some old cartoon characters to be the villains, like Asgaarth or Ruby. Asgaraath was a good guy, but you never know. I’d love to see at least him return, since MK1 was lacking in introduction of new characters and that guy seems cool I wonder if the DLC that we know is coming going to bring new characters intro the main roster. Like Shujinko, maybe Sareena, maybe Jade. Anyone who could play part in this story
Rain is literally one of the only characters who actually changed. I have no idea how could you not be hyped about it, but be hyped about Shang Tsung doing the exact same thing he was every previous time with absolutely nothing new
To be fair Shang Tsung was literally being taught by his former self. Same thing with Quan Chi. Quan Chi was some type of miner then Titan Shang Tsung showed up. So who knows what either of the characters would have been if Titan Shang Tsung never got involved.
@@P_Bd you could say the same thing to justify him not being like the old Shang Tsung. He saw himself get as strong as he possibly could and still loose. That must have shown him that his strategy isn't really a well working one
With Sub-Zero I would be so on board with the cyber initiative being suits instead Basically turn him into Shredder, make the suit all black, boom, Noob Saibot.
@Vernafveik I love that idea, but to make it even better just give Bi-Han the Shredder suit from Deception, then make that suit all Black, and have him call himself Noob Saibot
A ton of people have already said it, but man your takes on Tanya's was rough dudes. The fact that she headed an investigation to help clear Li Mei's good name makes her the literal hero of her ending. The fact that she disbanded and reformed an ancient warrior clan to help her queen by keeping it clean was also not a small feat and a very cool way to show her capabilities as a leader. This could also lead to some neat story potential in the future of the story as Tanya will have more opportunities to grow if Netherrealm chooses to focus a bit on the Umgadi.
Tanya's wasn't necessarily bad or character-destroying, it was just boring and unambitious. It's a perfectly fine ending for the character, but it left me uninterested in seeing what happens next with her which was kind of the whole point of this video was "how interested am I in seeing where this goes?" And it goes without saying everyone's entitled to their opinion, nobody's opinions are wrong and I'm more than willing to hear out any argument
@@tgtkai Fair. Everyone has different preferences for their character developments. My points were pretty much already all listed, so I’m totally fine with ending it there. I’m glad to see a very level headed response, and am looking forward to seeing your future content.
@@eliasrodriguez1419I agree, I wasn’t a fan of Li Mei or Tanya but I think it’s because they didn’t put enough focus on them. I bet if they didn’t add that multiverse mess or for once start the game off focusing in outworld (hot take but Johnny’s whole chapter could’ve been removed) they could’ve built them up. It’s also bad when the umgadi is supposed to be warriors to protect the royal family but then some of them are murdered and Tanya always loses. Makes Tanya look weak. Then for Li Mei….she was just annoying to me, her voice didn’t help either but my goodness.
I'ma be honest I don't think these two talking in the video are funny I can't do this for an hour of listening so for that I'm out... but for those who did enjoy it do you im for it if it makes a few people other than just me kinda happy (there's only a few RUclipsrs who I don't actually mind taking in the middle of a cutscene because they can actually me laugh but again it's only a me thing)
he has always been on the evil side, it's always the same shit, same potential bruh, his redemption arc feels like something new after much time being the same
Yes but then he completely contradicts himself by saying he wrote things to be a certain way. The reason things messed up was due to titan Shang's interference otherwise it would be exactly how he wrote it, Shang Tsung & Quan Chi Being powerless nobodies, Shao serving outworld and sindel loyally. It's the only reason is plot
@@P_BdLiu wrote the broad strokes of events but not the minute details if liu had that power so would kronoka and she wouldn’t have restarted so many times
20:20 I don't find Mileena that peaceful. She is a much better adjusted person (becaus she is the heir and then empress, she doesn't have the jealousy that drove the original timeline one) , but a lot of her lines, especially post story ones, show she still has a very nasty side. While she treats Tarkatans with compassion born of sharing the condition, she has a very bellicist and spiteful mentality to those she considers are wronging her, one that Kitana is certainly helping curb so that Rain doesn't end with his head on a pike. I feel like if she ever find herself on the losing side against Shao, she may very well turn to a more self-destructive behavior.
Mileena as she used to be was one of my favorite characters, so I think my issue is that gameplay-wise, she's still Mileena, but in the story and cutscenes she just feels like Kitana 2. I'm not saying she needs to go full mad queen, but I do want to see them do more with her to differentiate her from Kitana
Nitara's ending is more like the plot to Blade Trinity than The Matrix. The vampires in that movie were also collecting humans and keeping them alive but comatosed just to bleed them out enough so they had a renewable source of food
For Liu Kang and Geras, Geras is genuinely more happy serving Liu Kang, because as someone said, Liu Kang treated Geras like an equal not a servant. It’s not as exciting but it like how Geras is no longer a villain
I think they forgot that in Shang Tsung’s ending, this is a nod to his island where you could only get there by sea and also how the well of souls was crafted underneath the island which would then turn Shang into a soul stealing sorcerer.
Dude I love this timeline where mileena gets to actually rule and be respected. We have had crazy Mileena for 30 years I think it’s cool to allow her some peace and humility
46:43 I'd say that's pretty much it, he can change things but some things 100% have to happen in some way. Maybe Liu Kang tried right make Baraka human, but the time-line corrected itself in someway to make sure he'd still become Tarkatan. Same with Kenshi's blindness, it's implied he can't stop it from happening, just how it happens. And same with Mileena, with making Shao only a general and Shang Tsung just a merchant of the sort, there would be no clone, instead making Mileena a biological sister of Kitana, but the time-line needed her to gave the things she does, so it infected her
Li Mei actually changed a lot. changed how people saw her, and how she saw herself. yes, she still has the same job. But now she isn't living in dishonour and nearing a breaking point in her life. She is content, apreciated and feels she's making a diference. it's quite the positive ending. doesn't really set up much for the future, but good for her.
I think psycho Mileena doesn't work this time cause she hasn't got as strong of a reason as the old timeline (hybrid clone, hated by Kitana etc). I could've seen it being viable if she got rejected from being empress and rashly joined Shao.
She could still exist, but in a more screwed up matter. Tarkat is stated to be able to not only affect the body, but the mental state of the person aflicted by it so she might go psycho because of it eventually.
She could’ve been an anti-hero. Like imagine she started despising Sindel because she found out some big secret that would put them against one another (could’ve been a ploy of Shang Tsung if they needed a reason) so she turns against the family and starts handling issues by murder instead of hearing people out. Which sindel will have to give her status of heir to kitana. Then in their endings, kitana could’ve made Mileena’s queen cause she cared for her, and Mileena would’ve been cruel but still caring.
@@firestarsantos7467 True that's a possibility. But I feel like they wouldn't want to undo her and Baraka's good deeds that way. I think it's likely they'll find an excuse for why Tarkat doesn't develop further in those two at least.
For the Kenshi ending it's funny you say it's a constant, because if you look at his mk9 ending and how he's already helping the special forces in X, they're very similar. It's almost like a canon event...this had me so hype I'm not a huge fan of the special forces but I think this is a really interesting path for Kenshi, and that Jax is in his ending is so dope...can't wait to see what's next! great video thx for the upload
Total Men In Black vibes from Kenshi's ending. I'll also add one more prediction: Cassie Cage is going to be completely different in this timeline- she'll be the offspring of Johnny Cage and Kitana instead of Cage and Sonya, making her super powerful due to her being half-edenian and having Cage's ancestral powers. A literal God-killer. Have you seen Cage and Kitana's intro dialogues?
tbh I think kitana is being set up with raiden above cage, her interactions with cage seem much more like playful in nature than romantic or even just a fling
The problem I have here is that it's too focused on future setup, when some of these endings don't care about that. They just want to provide a little bit of closure for the character. Li Mei's ending put helped her work out where she belongs, Baraka's ending showed him rising out of rock bottom, and Rain, having been driven by pure ambition for every prior timeline, is finally forced to see what it turned him into. So I say strip away the expectations of the next game and let some characters take a seat and watch the sunrise.
He is far from a Kano replacement, hes Shaos second, not a slimey, self obsessed, whitty, king of the criminal underworld. Hes a cool new villain, but doesnt fill the hole of Kanos exclusion.
My personal theory with smokes ending is that it sets up kuai liang scorpion dying and becoming noob saibot instead of bi han. Bi han cant really die at this point because there would be no sub zero without him as kuai is scorpion and i doubt he would train his newest recruit to be like his evil brother. Hanzo could replace kuai liang as scorpion after his death and as mentioned earlier, kuai liang becomes noob saibot
My take is having Kuai Liang become sub zero again and then have Hanzo be scorpion again and here's how I would have it happen: I would say that Kaui Liang gets hit with a magic spell that causes him to loses his fire magic (or takes it and puts it in a containment or something) which would eventually gets transfer to Hanzo. Then in order to not fall behind he then tries to learn the powers of cryomancy and then become the sub zero his brother failed to become.
I think Johnny cage’s ending is supposed to be him making the endings for the other characters. Idk but it would be sort of interesting. Evidence is explained when Kenshi talked about how Jax now knows about Outworld because of Johnny’s stories, I think that Kenshi’s story would be the last story Cage made.
46:53 bullshit in the intros Liu Kang talks about how he didn’t create the disease or know this would happen at all so it caught him by surprise how can someone stop something that they don’t know will happen/occur
Honestly I like Mileena’s Ending but at the same time IT NEEDED MORE 😂 i think Shao is gonna start a big ass war and then Mileena and outworld loses and thats gonna piss her off bc u can still notice her personality doesn’t change because she doesn’t like to lose ESPECIALLY her throne or feel belittled. I think thats gonna set up her plotting with earth realm to get it back. Because she still has the disease but it’s only showed when she starts to get aggravated or aggressive. As much as I miss my crazy cannibal I like that idea because Mileena finally gets her happy ending with the family she always wanted in the post games endings ❤
46:16 um ackchyually Baraka and Liu Kang have a face off dialogue in wich Baraka ask why Liu Kang allowed him to get Tarkat and Liu Kang's responds that it was an "unforeseen consequence"
11:28 You guys are right on the money. The samurai attire on Sub-Zero looks dope af. I kinda wish they had that attire as a skin template for both Scorpion and Sub-Zero. Two rival clan leaders. But regarding Liu Kang’s ending, y’all are dissing Geras too much. He’s been a total bro in MK1 to Liu Kang and in his MK11 ending he never sought to wield power over the Hourglass. He wanted to make a perfect timeline he didn’t have to interfere with so he could rest, but when that proved impossible, he destroyed himself to allow the Hourglass to run automatically and give him the peace of death he had been denied. He is not into power at all and Liu Kang is right on how he’s probably the best candidate for a heir.
I think it’s so weird that you didn’t like tarkatans getting a peaceful place. Whether it’s because you don’t like tarkatans, or didn’t realize that their conflict resolution opens up the opportunity for a new conflict in future games (since it’s literally the first in the reboot) is astounding
Mileena's ending feels important to me, not just because i love her so much. This timeline was so focused on tarkat being a horrid disease and it fucked over normal lives like Baraka's, as well as her entire plot needing to hide her affliction with tarkat. Her ending has her reveal her long held secret and aligning with the tarkatans to bring them back into their serving role they always had until now. It very much fits with the overall story. It definitely has a build to the next part of the timeline, with her tarkat and what happens with it. Now that people know, and she wont be overthrown by the public for having tarkat, it could just lead to a remaster of MKX where shes taken over by shao kahn instead of kotal. Theres always the potential for her going down into the tarkat craze
31:19 Tf you mean??? Geras is designed by Liu Kang, his qualities, his values, and all the other Mumbo jumbo. Liu Kang says this during Geras’ first appearance.
I think yall are so wrong on the “nobody can be evil and its bad” the whole point of this timeline is that Kang made it to hold peace. He made these people more compassionate. Even then its fun to see all these people be friends.
I know this is an old video but I really dig the direction they went with actual person Mileena. It's a very neat twist on how old Mileena was a fusion between the noble and heroic Kitana and the deranged Tarkatan. Now she, herself, is this very noble person but also has to keep that Tarkat disease in check otherwise she's gonna eat your head. Less scary and jarring, but it actually fleshes out Mileena as an actual character and not just "Kitana, but a science experiment"
I will say that to be fair, with all of these characters that are either turning good by reflecting and stuff, there is also a whole shit ton of other bad guys that could show up and make up the difference. If you really think about it, some characters didn’t make too much sense to stay as villains like Baraka if you look at his original story, dude had his home conquered and was put into service of Shao Khan with nothing to show for it. And with every game Reptile always had a bad ending, arcade or story mode nothing went good for him so to see him actually get not only a better character out of him but to have him basically not suffering for the 10th time is great. Just saying, that looking back in the roster of Mortal Kombat Armageddon, there was too many bad guys to make anything interesting out of it especially when it also causes a lot of character overlap too.
I'd say the thing i love about mk1 and netherrealm is the worldbuilding that we understand how the world works also is it me or shao here looks like steppenwolf I really like how shao says it was very easy and reiko says the truth that it was hard and he worked hard to gove shao a weapon to help him also HOLLY CRAP ONAGA HERE IS LIKE DOOMSDAY OR HULK IF HE WAS JUST A RAGING BEAST OR BROLY OR I FORGOT THE NAME OF THE CRAB TRANSFORMER FROM BEAST WARS
I have to agree that the story this time around is a little too tame compared to the previous titles. Although it sort of makes sense since Liu Kang intervened and changed the origins of many characters that were a threat in the previous timeline but it's hard not to notice how much they have trivialized some of larger events from the past titles to mere footnotes. Frankly it would have been better if the story focused on a portion of the events and fleshed them out instead of doing a full recap in a single game. The tournament no longer felt like a grand challenge but some sort of private festival without any consequences. Deception and Deadly Alliances were just handful of passing scenes with no real threat as the main antagonists were complete removed from the story this time and I am not sure whatever continuing threads that are left behind will add up to a compelling story in later titles. I am also wondering how long this timeline is going to exist before they do another reset because if you look at it, the story in MK actually comes to a halt after Armageddon and everything MK 9 onwards have been stuck in a time loop that kept on redefining events and certain character origins over and over.
the tournament was literally a private festival, thats the entire point of it. Lui kang even says that he isn't sending raiden into mortal kombat. everything else i agree with tho
Some future story threads I would like to see is. The conflict between Havik and Hotaru over the state of Seido. The Red Dragon's machievallian infiltration of Outworld and Earthfealms under the command of Daegon who will be followed by Mavado, Hsu Hao and Kano. Lastly I'd like to see Reiko betray Shao and join Onaga's army after he takes over Edenia. Perhaps a new deadly alliance between Onaga and Havik? I'd like to save the Sonya, Nightwolf, Stryker, Kano, and the rest of the Black Dragon for the next game involving the Invasion of Earth.
Mk1 subzero starts the cyber initiative and captures mk1 scorpion, forcing hanzo to take up the mantle of his master. Now we have cyber scorpion (cyber kuai liang, like mk9) and hanzo scorpion
Well, to be honest, when it comes to the reboot timeline Mileena, her being a psychopath pretty much can be boiled down to her desiring to be loved by others, only to have it end up becoming more conditional or just straight up rejected. Such as for instance, MK9 Mileena wakes up and wants to more or less hug and play with her sister because she was pretty much just "born". Kitana calling her an abomination and that she is not her sister along with beating her up is practically her first memory after coming in existence in that timeline.

If you look at Hanzo’s ending in 11, the elder gods would literally not let him and his wife live peacefully. That’s probably the same for Liu Kang. Hanzo is just not allowed to have a happy life.
Tanya's ending wasn't disappointing, it was an important narration on what ACTUALLY led to Li Mei's exile from the Umgadi, as well the trust and reverence Tanya personally holds for her. You get a better sense of Outworld's Umgadi through Tanya's eyes. EDIT: Their discussion over Mileena's ending was straight _garbage._
You should put them all together and see which ones match up and set up the second one, which ones end in the death of a character killing another, but in that other fighters ending they kill the person instead and there for create new timelines. See how many ending timeline there are
Feel like Mileena has a split personality going on. It seems like she will go feral on an enemy if she doesnt get her treatments. I hope they expand on that part of her story more
A thought for the future, what if Bi Han destroys the Shirai Ryu again in this timeline, only this time it's legit. Quan Chi sees the rage in Hanzo, and instead of turning him to Scorpion, he turns him into Noob Saibot.
OG scorpion becoming a combat kid suggest Hanzo now has Frost’s backstory (street rat adopted by the head of a newly formed clan with a short tempered chip on his shoulder). New Scorpion is also married to what was originally OG‘s wife so likely his temper is going to flare up because of mommy issues. (Bi-Han likely kills Harumi and Hanzo seeks revenge.)
I hope we get to play as Harumi before she (literally and figuratively) gets fridged And that Kuai Lian becomes Noob Saibot letting Hanzo take the Scorpion menthol
In the defense of the repeats in history it’s stated that with titan shangs interference none of the later part of the game would have happened and also implied that certain events and existences are fixed points for existence ex. tarkat Liu Kang didn’t will that it just happened
I had a theory about Sub Zero ending. What if next game, Lin Kuei gets a proper storyline -- Sektor builds the robot army, calling them "Saibots" using Noob's moveset. Sektor then takes over the Lin Kuei, betraying Bi Han. Sektor succeeds beating him, turning Bi Han to Cyber Sub Zero. Cyrax (now portrayed by Travis Scott) then goes to rescue CSZ.
So they did kind of explain how things like Tarkat happened. After restarting the timeline and following it for so far, when Liu Kang gave up the time god powers to the jade statue, he no longer had his omniscient powers, so things grew on their own. Tarkat was one of the things that developed AFTER Liu gave up his time powers and went down to just being the God of Fire.
My friend you just earned yourself a new sub this honestly was needed lol cause i was honestly saying to some of my friends that some endings are just disappointing
It seems that Shao is someone that actually cares about the well-being of outworld He's an asshole like he usually is but he has a more deeper reason behind it
In Geras' ending, the bottom right one looked to be Quan Chi. The kissing one looks like MKX Meleena getting killed by Devorah from what I could tell by looking.
There's gotta be a balance, everyone can't be good in a series full of traitors and monsters, it's too safe, I wanna see some betrayal or drama. I'm not saying everyone needs to be evil, but I am saying I can count the number of characters who are against the heroes on one hand. It's the same issue as modern Venom & Harley Quinn, the characters are popular so they made them essentially full on heroes in modern comics, and I still love these characters, but they don't have the same appeal they did when they were villains to me. It's a personal preference sure, but I don't think I need another game of Shang Tsung/Quan Chi being the only real threat again. Sorry if I'm not doing a good job explaining my case, but you get where I'm coming from?
@@lfm5444 If you disagree then please tell us which game in the franchise had the best storytelling, please. This is miles better than most of the stories in the series
Am I extremely wrong for being 99.9% sure that the island Shang found was his island from the original timeline? The same one fron mk11 krypt. I was very confused on the theories about it in this video because I thought it was obvious. I didn't think about Johnny at all
I NEED to fight and play as Onaga again! Seeing him in the current engine artstyle is gonna be awesome and Shao claims to have tamed Onaga in one of his dialogues but Geras warns of a Titan Onaga with Liu Kang preparing for him!
Maybe what I think is that Raidens ending it could be that he does actually learn and join the shirah ryu. However just like in the original timeline, it gets massacred once again by the lin quei. However Raiden survives and thats what pushes Raiden to become Dark Raiden this time instead of Shinnok's amulet taken over. I think that could make a good future game where Raiden and Scorpion are the mc's because it's also about time we get Scorpion as the main character for a Mortal Kombat game.
i think the correct order of events happening is this: Shao Khan rebels, but his rebellion is put down by Kitana. Then he and Reiko got captured, but were set free by Sub Zero. Realizing that simply waging a civil war won't bring him anywhere, he then tasks Reiko to subjugate Onaga.
Here are some plotholes and details that are fixed or explained that you might have forgot: 1) Shaos Ancestors Imprisoned Onaga. Not because they wanted power for themselves, but because they where noble. Shao becoming evil in this timeline was just something out of Liu Kangs control, there is a dialogue between Sindel and Shao where she states that Shaos Father was an honorable edenian and general, unlike him. 2) Liu Kang did *not* make Tarkat disease on porpuse, we don't really know the origin of said disease. If he would of changed every single thing that went wrong he would of gone mad just like Kronika, he mentions this in story mode to Geras. 3) I feel like your letting character development way too much aside. Look, i know that the introduction of new characters and villians is interesting, but at the same time seing the characters evolve is also very good in my opinion. Let's take Kung Lao for example, you guys where like "damn that is Shujinko ending" but you are forgetting that he is learning from his mistakes and also learning to be more humble. 4) Shang Tsung isn't stealing the power of Johnnys ancestors (i legit laughed when you guys said that lol) he said that it was soul power, here is where he will learn soul abilities just like og Shang. The place where he is at is his original Island (the one where the very first tournament of MK ocurs) although i also like a lot the idea of the Deadly Alliance temple. 5) Mileena *still* has Tarkat, she just has a temporal "cure" that hides her sympthoms, it could also be important for the next games plot, since Shang Tsung escaped and he won't make a cure anymore.
5:01 It’s explained that Hanzo is a kid as his wife dying causes the century long shiraiyu/Lin kuei war. So Kuai is now meant to marry Harumi. As Hanzo in LITERALLY EVERY TIMELINE Harumi is killed if she falls in love with Hanzo. This way it’s nearly impossible for them to get together.
Sorry this took so long to do! Really wanted to check out the endings and really wanted Joe the loremaster here to help theorycraft, but I love what most of these set up for the future! Which was your favorite!
Yo kollecter is in the background for Kenshi ending

He became ed boon and John tabias the creators of the original mk

Also bajilion others and steal their souls and any other immesirable number of crimes he made
Fr. Liu kang had every right to be salty about that guy

For the record lui never wanted tarkat to exist, it was a *sigh* cannon event. Also he wanted to redeem shang ,shao and Quan.
@@Dajobertomans I may have misheard him but hey I still believe that was the intention
Nah I’m p sure like when he said that it was with vitriol(talking about shang and quanch), and he stated he wanted them to have meaningless and fruitless lives, nothing about redeeming themselves. Shao he was able to redeem though just making him a loyal general of sindel.
@@Dajobertomans fair point

I honestly like that all of the endings this time around are cohesive epilogues to the story mode... Hopefully next MK will be about Onaga being freed and showing off his zombie enslavement power that was only hinted at in Deception's character bios... Possibly taking advantage of Bi-Han's Teknukin Initiative to give himself a modern Dragon Army...
Just to clear up some mistakes that you guys may have missed:
With Shang Tsung, it’s not implying that he found and is stealing Johnny’s Green Glow, which Raiden said was a hereditary power bestowed by the gods to a Mediterranean war cult to be warriors for them, nor is it implying that he is building his Deadly Alliance temple, though that it a possibility.
One thing I like from Havik's ending is that it's probably the part where Havik praises water for it's destructive nature
Another thing, Rain's power wasn't amplified by Havik. He always had that latent power. Sindel just hadn't allowed him to explore it.
I swear they didn’t pay attention to any of them
Does anyone have a TLDR?
Kuai Liang can become Noob and Hanzo can inherit his fire powers, but yeah, we don’t know yet
I think they might bring some old cartoon characters to be the villains, like Asgaarth or Ruby. Asgaraath was a good guy, but you never know. I’d love to see at least him return, since MK1 was lacking in introduction of new characters and that guy seems cool
I wonder if the DLC that we know is coming going to bring new characters intro the main roster. Like Shujinko, maybe Sareena, maybe Jade. Anyone who could play part in this story
Just remember, Johnny Cage created Mortal Kombat
Yes Johnny is a god lol
Mortal Kombat made him so he can create it

It's a perfectly fine ending for the character, but it left me uninterested in seeing what happens next with her which was kind of the whole point of this video was "how interested am I in seeing where this goes?"

Ye, but I miss Psycho Mileena 😭
Guys!!! It's Shang Tsung's Island!! From the first Mortal Kombat game. With the Warrior Shrine, his Throne Room, the Courtyard!
One of you really needs to change the batteries on your smoke detector
The less conflict can only mean that they need new enemies -- lots of endings hint Chaosrealm and Orderrealm coming into play next game
Chaosrealm is kinda coming in..as DLC and damn it's a disappointment
Total Men In Black vibes from Kenshi's ending.
I'll also add one more prediction: Cassie Cage is going to be completely different in this timeline- she'll be the offspring of Johnny Cage and Kitana instead of Cage and Sonya, making her super powerful due to her being half-edenian and having Cage's ancestral powers. A literal God-killer. Have you seen Cage and Kitana's intro dialogues?
How big will the time skip between M1K and M2K even be?
tbh I think kitana is being set up with raiden above cage, her interactions with cage seem much more like playful in nature than romantic or even just a fling
Really hope Reiko ending doesn't imply Reiko is going to die. I would really like him to stay as our kano replacement
Some of the intros imply he won against Onaga
Nah, we need Kano back. If you don't like him you're objectively wrong. Doesn't mean Reiko shouldn't come back, I like him too.
@@jaegerwhatifs4679 oh I like kano too, quite a lot actually but Reiko gameplay is clearly kano and kano has had more than enough time to shine.
He is far from a Kano replacement, hes Shaos second, not a slimey, self obsessed, whitty, king of the criminal underworld. Hes a cool new villain, but doesnt fill the hole of Kanos exclusion.
@@allhandsondik7803 gameplay replacement not sotrg replacement. Reiko gameplay is identical to how kano would normally play
46:53 bullshit in the intros Liu Kang talks about how he didn’t create the disease or know this would happen at all so it caught him by surprise how can someone stop something that they don’t know will happen/occur
dude just didn't play the game or read/listen anything as it seems, hilarious
He's literally a god.
@@RyokKrinyour saying this when it's only mention in the intros that varies lmao
46:16
um ackchyually
Baraka and Liu Kang have a face off dialogue in wich Baraka ask why Liu Kang allowed him to get Tarkat and Liu Kang's responds that it was an "unforeseen consequence"
12:56 I need this on my f*cking wall, this is true art.
I think it's addressed in an interaction that Liu Kang didn't create Tarkat. It just kinda happened. Because I guess Tarkatans are a canon event.
26:56 Kenshi And Jax Are The Mortal Kombat Equivalent To Men In Black [MIB]
Sub-Zero becoming William Afton
Someone’s gotta change their smoke detector battery
31:19 Tf you mean??? Geras is designed by Liu Kang, his qualities, his values, and all the other Mumbo jumbo. Liu Kang says this during Geras’ first appearance.
Rain's ending summarized: "my le flood... le killed people...?"
Imagine Onaga shapeshifting into Reiko and deceives Shao Kahn and all of outworld
I think yall are so wrong on the “nobody can be evil and its bad” the whole point of this timeline is that Kang made it to hold peace. He made these people more compassionate. Even then its fun to see all these people be friends.
You're literally proving them right.
It kinda in some regards
I'd say the thing i love about mk1 and netherrealm is the worldbuilding that we understand how the world works also is it me or shao here looks like steppenwolf
I really like how shao says it was very easy and reiko says the truth that it was hard and he worked hard to gove shao a weapon to help him also HOLLY CRAP ONAGA HERE IS LIKE DOOMSDAY OR HULK IF HE WAS JUST A RAGING BEAST OR BROLY OR I FORGOT THE NAME OF THE CRAB TRANSFORMER FROM BEAST WARS
y’all was havin some horrendous theories in this no offense
I thought Li Mei’s ending was disappointing. She got upgraded just to quit back to where she was. She got nowhere and I unlocked that ending too.
To answer the Liu Kang Tarkot thing, in one of the intros of Baraka vs Geras, Geras says Liu Kang didn't control Tarkot
Damn they be talking too much like how you gonna judge the ending when you’re not even listening to it
Enenra is the entity that gave smoke his powers in the old timeline
I love how his entire audience mostly agree “yeah you have some terrible dog shit takes but your entertaining.”
Oh my god you're god damn right, Ermac does look like Charlie going on about Pepe Silvia
Nice keep it up
BUT i think i refuse your ranking about Tanya her ending is not trash, its just midly ''could go either way'' tier
Kitana calling her an abomination and that she is not her sister along with beating her up is practically her first memory after coming in existence in that timeline.
if you stop to fink about, ermac from mk1 is the first character that can be indentified by he and she depending if jerod or sindel are controlling, acting like a dissociative identity disorder, back in the early mk, he had no soul on control, so it only could be identified as us
its amazing how my brain stop thinking when im sleepy, i just start thinking nos sense
Just so you know, the portals in Liu Kang and Geras’s endings have D’vorah killing Mileena, Shao Kahn victory pose mk11, and Cassie or Sonya mk11
Personally I think Liu Kang should’ve let Hanzo raise his family in peace in the new time line
Hardcore "Twisted Metal Black" vibes from the endings. Love the way they overlap like TMB.
It seems that the OIA also allows Outworlders into the agency as there is a Naknada and Shokan in the background of the OIA screenshot.
earthrealm ninjas endings: pure hype
outworld royals: meh, its kinda sucks
You should put them all together and see which ones match up and set up the second one, which ones end in the death of a character killing another, but in that other fighters ending they kill the person instead and there for create new timelines. See how many ending timeline there are
Hanzo's first appearance is in a black ninja costume, and since NRS try to take new approaches, Hanzo could become Noob Saibot of this timeline
Liu Kang created Geras in his own image to make decisions the exact way he would.
I literally just noticed there's a naknadan (species Kollector was) in the top left in Kenshis ending when it zooms out in the OIA headquarters!
I hope we get to play as Harumi before she (literally and figuratively) gets fridged
And that Kuai Lian becomes Noob Saibot letting Hanzo take the Scorpion menthol
I just notice this. in kenshi ending at 28:09 kollector is just hanging on the side lines in the background on left side behind jax.
Maybe that means that kollector is a good guy?!
The Elder Gods were mentioned in the story mode, so they are at least figures, characters like Dehlia and Argus are also mentioned
33:45-33:58 Why do I want to see an animation on this?
So they did kind of explain how things like Tarkat happened. After restarting the timeline and following it for so far, when Liu Kang gave up the time god powers to the jade statue, he no longer had his omniscient powers, so things grew on their own. Tarkat was one of the things that developed AFTER Liu gave up his time powers and went down to just being the God of Fire.
How?
My friend you just earned yourself a new sub this honestly was needed lol cause i was honestly saying to some of my friends that some endings are just disappointing
It seems that Shao is someone that actually cares about the well-being of outworld
He's an asshole like he usually is but he has a more deeper reason behind it
Ey yo change the battery in your smoke detector
In Geras' ending, the bottom right one looked to be Quan Chi. The kissing one looks like MKX Meleena getting killed by Devorah from what I could tell by looking.
These are some of the best story telling in mk and these dudes are mad just bc everyone isn’t constantly evil that’s so annoying lol
Character writing are just like food taste. It’s personal
The best???? 😂😂😂
@@lfm5444 If you disagree then please tell us which game in the franchise had the best storytelling, please. This is miles better than most of the stories in the series
I disagree, they have absolutely massacred my boy shao kahn. They consistently make him worse every game.
Am I extremely wrong for being 99.9% sure that the island Shang found was his island from the original timeline? The same one fron mk11 krypt. I was very confused on the theories about it in this video because I thought it was obvious. I didn't think about Johnny at all
"Oh, no, I don't want my characters to be realistic and have the ability to self-reflect"
I NEED to fight and play as Onaga again! Seeing him in the current engine artstyle is gonna be awesome and Shao claims to have tamed Onaga in one of his dialogues but Geras warns of a Titan Onaga with Liu Kang preparing for him!
I enjoyed this a lot and I wish I could see them rank the endings for mk11
Maybe what I think is that Raidens ending it could be that he does actually learn and join the shirah ryu. However just like in the original timeline, it gets massacred once again by the lin quei. However Raiden survives and thats what pushes Raiden to become Dark Raiden this time instead of Shinnok's amulet taken over. I think that could make a good future game where Raiden and Scorpion are the mc's because it's also about time we get Scorpion as the main character for a Mortal Kombat game.
ON THE TOP LEFT YOU CAN SEE KOLLEKTOR IN 28:14 !!
Imagine OIA Jax had a skin that would be sick
i think the correct order of events happening is this: Shao Khan rebels, but his rebellion is put down by Kitana. Then he and Reiko got captured, but were set free by Sub Zero. Realizing that simply waging a civil war won't bring him anywhere, he then tasks Reiko to subjugate Onaga.
Here are some plotholes and details that are fixed or explained that you might have forgot:
1) Shaos Ancestors Imprisoned Onaga.
So basically Liu had zero choice unless he wanted a century long genocide/war
