  • Tutorial for setting up the "Musicolor Key Guides" for your piano or keyboard for use with the Musicolor Method!
The Colored Key Guides show the rainbow colors for the white notes of each octave on the piano, and also indicated the letter name for each note.
(Please note: for starting out, you can just print one page and cut in half for just two sets of guides--covering the entire keyboard is not necessary for starting out)
    1. There are 2 copies per page, so you'd print up 3 copies (in color) to cover the 5 octaves of the piano. Be sure to print at 100% original size--otherwise, if your printer resizes it for some reason, then it won't fit the keyboard properly.
    2. cut each page in half on the dotted line
    3. fold each half in half the long way along the bottom of the color bars
    4. fold that in half the long way one more time so it's fairly narrow
    5. trim each side down to just about 2-3 millimeters from the outer two colors (the red and the gray). That way, you can set them right to each other behind the keys without any overlap.
    6. place the folded and cut key guides behind the keys, lining up with each octave of the piano.
    7. If you want to cover the very top note (the extra C on top) you can fold the extra key guides all the way back right past the Red bar, and tuck the rest behind the top-most key guide right below that note.
