Chris Evans CAN ACT his butt off when he wants to. He's awesome and I can see him doing smaller films like this after his Marvel run. Snowpiercer anyone?

    • @VultureClone
      @VultureClone 7 лет назад +24

+Ryan Edwards I agree. You don't know if someone is truly a good actor/actress until they're given a good role. If Evans had just been placed in superhero movies his entire career then we'd never see the range of his acting.

Ryan Edwards I've seen a few of the smaller movies he's been in (London, Puncture, Before We Go). He's great as Cap, but he really shines in other movies too, and for that I feel he's actually pretty underrated.

Ryan Edwards I totally agree. People know him as Steve Rogers and Johnny Storm only. He acted so well in Before We Go.

I think he just wants to do good stuff having been in so much bad. That is why he is so happy with Marvel because they just keep the good stuff coming.

flpndrds Proper grades? He's combining subjectivity with objectivity. From what I have seen, in his reviews. Therefore he can do whatever the fuck he wants. Based on his knowledge among many other things, I think he's a respectable reviewer. He gives good movies praise and poor movies justice and shows the good and bad.
Now past all that. Your comment is wrong. You claim he gives all movies B+ or higher. Wrong. He gave the wall crap movie a C. There are many more examples in case you did not mean your statment seriously.
Who says he NEEDS to be more objective. You're right in the respect he CAN and has the ABILITY to be more objective. Which you, say, but not directly. You provide no reason for him to change to be more objective though. As the assertive the burden of proof and reason lies with you.
What are proper grades? That, and why would he have to. Why does he need to. You bring up no reasoning. There is no standarized system. This is channel, his reviews, his opinions, HIS grades.
Bring an argument or bring your poor attitude elsewhere please.

Being "gifted" can also go horribly wrong. I think the main difference between gifted kids and "regular" kids is just interest. Some kids like reading and like math. Unfortunately interest and enthusiasm is something you can lose easily. Having the wrong teacher can cause that easily.
They called me "gifted" when I was in first grade. The teachers recommended I should skip 2 grades or go to some special private boarding school. The latter my parents couldn't afford and I was too afraid of the older kids and refused to skip. Unfortunately my parents gave in and didn't force me to do it and so I stayed in first grade, didn't get challenged intellectually, grew complacent and ultimately bored and stopped putting any effort into anything. I just coasted throughout elementary school and never learned how to properly study and never developed discipline. On top of that I started hating school because I got bullied and had hostile relationships to teachers, who considered me a arrogant smartass, because I kept correcting them when they talked bullshit.
Throughout high school, I also just did the bare minimum and didn't care about my grades.
So when I went to university and suddenly things got harder and I didn't have the discipline, nor the technique to actually cram data and really study, instead of just absorbing enough knowledge by osmosis to pass, things went south quick and I started to hate every minute of being at campus and skipped tons of lessons.
"Use it or lose it." really is true and being "gifted" isn't worth much if you never develop the discipline to study stuff you don't happen to be naturally interested in, or to overcome environmental adversity (like bad teachers and bullies).

It was a cold mid-winter evening, and Chris Stuckmann had just gotten home after watching another dreadful horror remake. He opened the door to his house and ventured in only to find his wife Sam, and John Flickinger, waiting for him, siting at the dining room table, and basked in dim lighting. Confused, Chris asked, “Hey John, Sam what’s going on?”
His wife silently moved across the room, grabbed a small metal container and set it before Chris. He sat down. Sweat streamed across his pale white forehead for he knew that his secret had been uncovered. Then Sam, in a cool detached voice said,
    “Open it.”
Chris, trying to bide his time turned to John, exclaiming, “You know what we should do? Go to Best Buy! I hear they have new 5k TVs now; just think about that amazing quality c’mon lets go!”
John looked at Chris, his penetrating gaze seeing right through Stuckmann’s ruse. “Chris, open the box.”
Chris was really frightened now. Pools of sweat soaked through his vintage wicker man T-Shirt, as his breathing grew heavy. He abruptly stood up and shouted, “You two don’t know anything! This is nothing! It’s nothing!” He picked up the container and flung it across the room.
“Stop trying to run, you’ll never escape.” Said the pair in unison.
With cold expressionless faces John and Sam began to slowly approach Chris. Chris, scared out of his mind turned tail and ran toward his bedroom slamming the door behind him. He laid sideways with his body against the door, in the fetal position. John and Sam were violently pounding on the door shouting, “Open the box! Open the box! Open the box!”
Chris closed his eyes; he just wanted to get away. But after a few seconds he couldn’t take it anymore, he screamed at the top of his lungs, “STOP, STOP PLEASE I CAN’T IT ANYMORE EVEN IF I WANTED TO OPEN IT ITS NOT IN HERE!”
The house fell silent. Slowly, Chris opened his eyes. The box was right in front of him. His trembling hands gripped the lid of the container as he slowly opened it to reveal a DVD copy of Chan-Wook Park’s The Handmaiden. Review the fucking Handmaiden

I actually enjoyed the courtroom scenes and thought they fit well with the film (unlike most). They added depth to the relationship of the mother and son and brought out a lot of revelations on both their concerns and interests for Mary and her giftedness. I think it really gave momentum to the story as well with a nice break from the traditional right and wrong that tends to make those scenes seem drawn out. It added an extra element of realism that made the movie that much more encapsulating. It was one of few movies where once it finished I wanted to see more.

Good movie. Characters you'd care about. It also really shows the bias of family court, which always is bias against men and favor women. Unfortunately family court is this FKed up giving children to women with no real love for them besides what they can get. This movie does touch the tip of that iceberg. Credit to Chris Evans for going small in a high point in his career

The thing that's funny about these kinds of movies is that sure, the kid is crazy smart and can write down and solve super long math problems, but just because you're a genius doesn't mean you already know everything. Some one still had to teach the kid the material, like she's in Kindergarten or 1st grade, who taught her Calculus 😂

On what Chris said about Mckenna Grace. She just did The Haunting of Hill House (which is amazing) and she is really great in that show as well, but I found it odd that she stars in Gifted, where she has a gift, but she also stars in THOHH where she also may have a gift (subtle nod there). No spoilers though. Just watch the show. It’s freaking incredible. I wish Chris would review it

Dude, I've mentioned this same thing to John Campea (didn't spell check) and I'm recommending it again. Some color correction would go a long way in your current vids. All the movie reviewers I watch have very dull looking color palates regarding skin tones and overall asthetic. I'm sure your audience doesn't care all that much and I get it that the extra rendering time is a killer. As a filmmaker, I love hearing all your guys views. I'll always be watching but that little extra would be a huge plus, even if you are just sitting down. Well, especially because you're sitting down. Love that shirt too.

Einstein wasn't noticed as a genius as a kid. Much much later only, a lot of people didn't even believe in him, and didn't accept his theories until his relativity theory, and he had to actually prove it by taking pictures of an eclipse before and after pics. And the stars actually got a zoom effect while in the eclipse. A kid already being called the next Einstein at age what? When even Einstein wasn't even noticed as one when he was one. It just annoys me a little. There are obvious geniuses all over the world, but they still don't have the abilities to think outside the box like Einstein. If you put Einstein at 20 with a person who's todays genius also at 20 next to him, nobody would think Einstein was smarter than him or had potential. Obvious geniuses really don't get smarter, their abilities always stay there cause they have a "gift". Einstein had to work for his and he got better and smarter everyday. He was truly different. If the world gets another Einstein he/she will not be an obviously smart kid, will be someone behind the scenes actually working hard. Not naturally gifted off the bat...

I'm interested in this because of Chris Evans, I really want to see him in something great besides just Captain America or any of the MCU movies.
    Great video Chris.

the girl is in designated survivor on Netflix, and she’s great. she isn’t in it all that much, but when she’s on screen she’s really good

Hey Chris, not trying to complain, but the symmetry of the background you keep is visually harsh. The lines from your DVD/blue ray shelving crash into you. We need to see where the lines end Chris. I'd like to recommend an offset approach to setting up your backdrop for your reviews. Looks great otherwise! Thanks :)

I was excited about this ever since the trailers dropped and I am glad to hear that you felt like it is a good film! I know it is getting mixed reviews, so I was a little disappointed. I look forward to seeing Chris Evans do more not-superhero stuff (like Snowpiercer) and this is definitely what I am going to see on Saturday!

Chris, I don't know if you have reviewed this movie. But I reckon that the movie Boyhood might be a great suggestion for you. You yourself may really relate to the main character who over the course of the movie grows up. Just thought it would be a nice idea for you to review.

    Hey Chris!
How come you haven't made any reviews on the old classics like Casablanca, The Maltese Falcon or Singin' In The Rain? I just started watching these and I think they're fantastic. I would love to hear your thoughts on these.

actually i loved this movie for one thing principally : i waited so long for chris evans to do something else, and he's doing this really well so far ! so now i think i'll just wait for him to keep on in that way because i have the feeling he can do much more than that, just hoping now he won't stop acting in that movie register, especially after he did the first step of doing something different, which is the hardest step by far in my opinion.

I disagree with this review. I thought this movie could've been better without Jenny Slate's character. I didn't know what she was doing in this movie. I personally would've liked to see more of Octavia Spencer and Chris Evans' friendship, their chemistry was farrrrr better.
