Regarding the guy in The Run and the "permission to record", that's indeed not how it works at all. There's no such thing as "recording without permission" on a public server, by default it is assumed that if you go somewhere public and make yourself visible in some capacity, then you take full responsibility for your actions. Can't be both private and public at the same time in this context, if you're afraid of that, then don't go there in the first place. Had the server been private or friends only then I would agree, that makes it a classic case of invading someone's privacy, but as long as it's a public server or setting that won't fly.
