It was actually a miracle that no house was damaged on land, the plane crashed in a condominium area. Some residents watched horrified, and the whole country is still in grief. So, so sad 😢 for all the victims and their family! The pilot wasn't supposed to fly that day. It was his day off! So young, competent pilot according to his co-workers! Fatality!
According to the Blancolirio channel, this looks like an issue with severe icing on the wings. No doubt the safety board will be able to confirm this either way.
ATR is an Italian-French aviation manufacturing company! I used this aircraft for Oil field crew changes in Suriname & in Myanmar b/c they are efficient & a very reliable short haul passenger airframe!
The plane is a ATR 72 only 1000 have been purchased and there has been a crash every year if not multiple times per year, it’s clearly dangerous and poor in certain conditions
Having flown multiple turbo props, including the ATR, I don’t believe that the ATR is worse than others in this category. These aircraft are often flying at levels where icing occurs, and in countries where high terrain adds to the hazard - as they can’t get to jet altitudes, and the terrain may preclude descending out of ice. As the lady in the interview says, the typical turbo prop wing anti or deicing system is not nearly as effective as that on jet aircraft. Add in the possibility that pilots flying these aircraft may not be as experienced or well trained as jet pilots, that companies flying these aircraft may not be as well funded or inclined to provide more than the minimum crew training, or maybe skimp on maintenance, and the risks add up. Rarely does one single failure result in an accident. Not that I am suggesting any of these factors caused this particular tragedy. That’s for the investigation to determine.
What the lady says is that there are good ice protection systems in big aircraft like Airbus but such protective systems are not there in ATR model. Then how can she say that ATR model is safe. She contradicts herself.
He was young but super experient, he was a pilot for over 15 years. And he used to work for this company for almost 2 years now. We still don't know if they didn't notice the ice or if the plane was malfunctioning
These AT's aircraft are prone to icing, and to use the de-icing button is like putting car lights on in the dark. Not doing this is gross neglect by the pilots, which could have caused this accident. The other crashes of these AT-72's and of different classes of this aircraft have all been to icing, not feathering the propellers if you have to turn off one of the troubled engine, stalling or banking too hard over - left and right, take your pick. RIP and God Bless to the deceased and their families.
These planes have a history of not doing well with ice.the de-icing was modified by ATR but still didn’t fix the problem. The wings a very narrow and the engines are heavy, it has alot flaws. How many accidents and crashes and lives before they ground this plane
I agree about the narrow wings, also thought the same, they look like an afterthought. The most critical part of the plane looks so inadequate to keep such a large plane in the air

Very informative pilot, answers the questions, no waffle.

The ATR 72 doesnt have a good record when it comes to severe icing conditions

How much experience did she have flying this type of aircraft?

Beware of conspiracy nutters
So unlikely well it is happening and the weather conditions are getting worst to for flying
What’s the pilots name?
Danilo Santos Romano.
Lot of airplanes dropping lately
Blancolirio channel has it nailed, Icing at 17,000!!
Was it a female pilot?
No. Piloto e Co eram homens.
it was not. It was a 35 years old man. With 10 years experience in flying.
weird question, but no.
Pilot was a 35 old man, and co-pilot a man on his 60s, forgot his exact age.
