I got my Gamecube back in August and bought Melee a week later. I'm planning to buy Metroid Prime next and i need to get a new controller. I absolutely love the Gamecube. If only i bought one sooner.
Sonic 64 (The Reboot) i just bought another one, still have my purple one from the orig. launch, cant wait til use my orange one & play classics all over again. nothing can beat the gamecubes legacy
Dude, I can totally relate to that last bit of the video. A warm, summer afternoon, curtains and windows fully open, the birds chirping happily outside, a large tankard filled with iced lemonade, and a selection of excellent old-school games. And of course, during the holidays, a couple of friends to play them with! The years between 2000 and 2005 were some of the best years of my childhood.
I remember looking forward going to school every day, not because of the school work, but because my friends and I would smuggle our GBAs and wireless adapters and battle each other on Pokemon FR/LG. And don't get me started on our Yu-Gi-Oh battles!
GameCube was my childhood!
Markell Hawthorne Mine was mostly N64 and Wii but gamecube was also a pretty big part.
But I played a lot of gamecube games on my wii since they were fully backwards with better looking graphics and even gamecube controlker support with the same old memory cards. Shit was great.
Mine too
Although it's really hard to recommend games on a system when theirs SO many good ones.
Me too
A great combination of "time to buy" and "where to start" :3
Plus it has a handle and handles are cool 😂
ChuckCheese • yes daddy it’s meee
gamecube is my favorite lunchbox
Really cool fact: if you have two GameCubes, a Game Boy Player, two TVs and the GCN-GBA cable, you can actually use the Game Boy Player equiped Cube as the Game Boy for compatible games. Yes I have done this, and yes it's really cool.
Did the same thing!
I'm Batman he’s saying you can use a Game boy player equipped GameCube as a substitute for using a Game Boy, if you connect it to the host GameCube and have a separate tv. I don’t know how you would connect the link cable, but still this is really cool and I didn’t know this!
The Game Boy Player actually has the Link Cable port on the front, so it's totally compatible with any accessories that use it, so you could trade Pokémon from a Game Boy Player, or use the Wireless Adapter as well. Because of that, you can hook up the GCN-GBA Link Cable to it the same way you can hook one up to a normal GBA
I picked up a jet black GameCube in June 2002, after getting the XBox first.
My first five games on my Cube were: Eternal Darkness, Star Wars Rogue Squadron 2, Madden NFL 2002, Resident Evil and WrestleMania X8. Had a blast during that summer. The GameCube is easily one of my favorite game systems of all time.
Thanks for this awesome video.
The Wii's Shop Channel is closing down in 2019 and yesterday was the last day you could add Wii points. R.I.P Wiiware
Planet Sheen long live the Wii Shop channel
You can still download any of the VC games on the Wii (and much more) if you know what you're doing.
Planet Sheen it’s 2018
Is wii u shops CLOSING down as well
Planet Sheen do you mean on the wii u?
I just bought a Gamecube and I can tell you I'm not disappointed.
I picked up a set of component GameCube Gables-they were missed labeled as PlayStation two cables-only paid eight dollars!
I'm fortunate enough to own a Panasonic Q from a lucky Ebay auction for only £500 that came boxed with the remote and modded with NTSC-U bios. It was bundled with a the component cables and a region free boot disc too! As a collector of the Gamecube myself its a dream to own so I would highly recommend picking up a Q if you can find one in your price range. Do keep in mind it is region locked for Japan's DVDs, but you can listen to CDs on it from any region with the option to use a subwoofer as well which makes my Mario Party 4/5 and Melee sessions complete even to this day!
MagnaLynx21 buy a wii and soft mod it it would have saved you 490
Wish to own one of Panasonic Q.
When I saw the Panasonic Q, all I thought was "That's one badass looking Gamecube" and kind of want one.
Just had this come up on my recommend again - got some sad news, the drive belt failed (as it inevitably would eventually) and my Q is currently out of action...I've got the part I need, but hope for repair is low due to very limited guide knowledge out there online :(
ok
Best memories of the GC were playing Mario Kart Double Dash!!, Wave Race Blue Storm, and I think I spent the longest amount of time playing Super Monkey Ball 2: loved Monkey Target 2, HATED stages like Arthropod, 8 Bracelets, and Momentum.
John B aka Smooth Chocolate That one level on masters difficulty where the whole course is cylinders drove me nuts for hours.
stuna210 I think it's called 5 just cylinders but I haven't played that level in a while just because of its crazy difficulty. Actually, for some reason, I stupidly deleted my data when I somehow achieved the master level, and that was back in 2002 when the game came out. And it took me 10 years later to reach it again.
Really enjoyed watching this. I've been a fan of the Gamecube since I got one in 2002. My fondest gaming memory was: Me and my Girlfriend, wife now had just bought our first house together. I'd taken one of the spare rooms as my own little space.. (man cave nowadays) I didn't have any furniture in there just an old 14 inch tv and my Gamecube. I'd lie on the floor playing games. I'll never forget the first time I exited the lift from Magnoor Caverns, walked down the ice tunnel then stepped out into Phendrana Drifts. Seeing the world spreading out before me as the Phendrana theme began to play gave me goosebumps. Even 19/20 years later I can still feel the joy and awe of that moment. Metroid Prime is still me favorite game and gets dusted off once every year or so for a play through. Still have one of my original Wavebirds too the other 2 I've bought over the last few years.
The only disappointment I have concerning my Gamecube however is the things I've sold 😒. My fully boxed Gameboy player about 4 years ago, MIB Metroid Zero Mission, MIB Zelda The Minish Cap. Sadly for me to get these in the condition I'd kept them would cost quite a lot of cash nowadays.
Love the GameCube, brilliant machine, great vid too,
did you know? Pressing A + B + X + Start on the GameCube controller Resets the game you are playing. I discovered this trick while playing Sonic Mega Collection for GameCube.
Danny Danny I must try I never knew this all these years 🙈
One of my favorite console of all time. This week, I'm buying a Indigo GameCube (1st model!) with all accessories for €20. I have an RGB scart cable for the cube. Bought it back in 2002. Great video!
Found this channel in my recommendations, I'm hooked!
Props on the writing!
I love the GameCube! My favorite add-ons for it are a screen attachment (Which makes your GameCube portable) and the Game Boy Player.
Melee, and Luigi's Mansion.
Though, games like RE4, Mario Sunshine, Wind Waker, Eternal Darkness, Soul Caliber, Pikmin and Pikmin 2 might be better because of their length and single player.
Shouldn’t you be talking to Vandalia and Shnick?
1:49: inspecting rear end, excuse me😂
Bro as a kid I remember playing this thing at daycare, played mario sunshine and some racing game all the time with my friends. I think it had snowboards? I loved it. I didn't like the controller but I got a switch recently and it's my first nintendo console I've ever owned. I decided to buy a wired switch gamecube controller and I love it more than I can explain. It feels amazing in my hands.
I will buy Nintendo Gamecube because of Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker and Simpsons: Hit&Run. Those 2 are games of my childhood. Thank you so much for this video.
Great video! I started collecting Gamecube games when I realized that my Wii had the ports. I started with Pac-Man World Rally and went on to get Mario Sunshine, Double Dash, and Paper Mario. I'm looking now into the Zelda and Mario Party games.
You touched on it a bit but I think it's probably a good idea to emphasize on the fact that not all Wii's can play CameCube games. I'm surprised the video didn't mention this since it's supposed to be a guide for those that don't know about these things.
Best video on gamecube without any doubt! What separates this video from the rest is your experience with the gamecube from the 2000s, and the emotional side.
Been thinking about getting a GameCube for a little while. Thanks for the guide!
Discoh Just get a Wii. Games look great on the Wii, even on a HD tv they look pretty damn good. Don't buy a WiiU. It'll make your gamecube games look like crap. I hyped up for years being able to play my gamecube games in HD on the WiiU until I could finally afford it. Then to my utter disappointment, the games looked way worse. The games look like pixely garble. It's like trying to play a N64 without modding it on your HD tv. It just looks plain awful. So take my word for it before wasting your money on a WiiU. If you're gonna buy a WiiU. Buy it for the WiiU games. Don't buy it for Wii or gamecube games. They look awful on the WiiU. Some TVs can't even view the Wii modes color properly. I was playing some dragon ball z gamecube game on my brothers tv with my wiiu and goku was green and blue. It looked really weird.
Mario Kart Double Dash is the best
Here comes the riots...
I still have my original launch indigo Gamecube and it still works. I remermber getting Pikmin and Luigi's Mansion and played both games all day on Christmas. I later bought Metroid Prime 1&2, Wave Race, Star Wars Rouge Squadron 2, Eternal Darkness, Mario Sunshine, Zelda Wind Waker, Resident Evil 4, Remake, and Zero, Mario Kart, Smash Bros, Star Fox Adventures, and a handful of other games. Good times good times.
I highly recommend Simpsons Hit and Run when you look a third party game.
I LOVE Simpsons Hit and Run! Played it on PS2 instead of GameCube but its still an awesome game.
I thoroughly enjoy my Nintendo GameCube and still collecting games
I bought my Nintendo GameCube as the Super Mario Sunshine Bundle Pak in 2003. I originally wanted the Resident Evil 4 bundle pak but the store no longer had that set and only had the Super Mario Sunshine bundle. I had been a longtime Nintendo fan by that point, playing the NES, Super NES, and Nintendo 64 consoles (and the Game Boy handheld) and continued with the Nintendo tradition with the GameCube. Looking back, I never played the GameCube as much compared to the PlayStation 2.
A few years ago, I stopped in at a pawn shop and took a look around. They had a Gamecube in the case for $20. Pretty good price, but, I already had a Cube.
Then, I noticed the bottom-side portion was different. It was a silver Gamecube, but it had a black piece.
I realized it was a broadband adapter! I couldn't believe it!
Threw my $20 down and was excited to finally get the BBA. I sold the Cube for more than the $20 I paid, also!
This was my first console back in 2005 with Super Smash Bros Melee being my first game ever :)
GameCube was my childhood and later the Wii was my late teen years. I only bought my Wii because I still had GameCube games I wanted to play. Didn't have a GameCube after my older sister moved out and took it with her. I'm still collecting GC and Wii games.
Twilight Princess for the Gamecube is my favorite game ever!
I remember getting a GameCube to play WindWaker, Eternal Darkness, and Soul Calibur II.
This channel is awesome, keep up the good work!
just found your channel. I find your narration very soothing. keep up the good work.
This is an awesome series. I look forward to your future videos.
Sehr gutes Video! Der Game Cube ist meine Lieblingskonsole und du hast mal wieder einen super Überblick gegeben, Daumen hoch!
Er kann doch kein deutsch oder hab ich was verpasst?
Love the warm summer breeze memory.
Using nintendont on the wii you can force widescreen in some gamecube games without stretching the image
Some Name I Guess. Internet (?)
For me there is one reason for the gamecube, for its gameboy advance connection with pokemon and other titles that use it.
I still play Phantasy Star Online on my Gamecube ;) It's amazing!
I love your chill style of narrating things, real comfortable.
Subscribed :)
Skies of Arcadia was another good Gamecube game that was originally on Sega Dreamcast.
The Wii is one of my favourite designs, timeless yet backwards compatible
It's still one of my all time favorite nintendo consoles, it's so unfortunate that it didn't sell well compared to its competitors.
This channel is awesome!
You need more subscribers. You have great stuff man.
I can't believe I use to play this ;-; I will miss this.3-12
My favorite console from my childhood. But I'm surprised that you didn't mention Custom Robo.
Well i just got a gamecube and I only twilight princess, no other game. Wasn't sure where else to start, so thanks!
Staying up long past midnight playing 2 hour matches of Super Smash Bros Melee to unlock Mewtwo.
The gamer's rite-of-passage.
Just got a Gamecube with a bunch of exclusives. Never really played Nintendo games before, looking forward to seeing what all the fuss is about.
You got to tell us your thoughts now!!
I’m not even subbed to you but youtube gave me a mobile notification for this video and I’m glad it did
YES!!! I wanted this!
I’m thinking of selling my Switch and buying a GameCube! Great Video!
Good video! Watched the whole thing and now I want to buy a gamecube lol
I love Pokémon Colosseum and XD a lot. There are a couple good Star Wars games too.
the best image you can get from a GameCube without a HDMI mod or investing a TON of money on component cables is using a PAL GameCube with a SCART cable (very common here actually, and it's the only way to get 60hz out of a PAL GameCube through an analogue cable)
Where to start? Get one in 2001. Best thing I ever bought and it still works.
Back in 2002, I traded in my GameCube for a PS2, to this day, I want to have a GameCube again, I already own a few games for the console I could play on my Wii, but nowadays I'd rather play the games on the actual console it was provided on. I just want to get Melee, Mansion and The Wind Waker at some point.
Ah yes, the Gamecube. Playing it throughout my childhood with NGC Magazine as my companion was awesome.
Luigi's Mansion is where to start
It also has a digital out port, that was never officially used (in Japan it was used for a component cable that had a digital/analog converter box inside the cable). It's easy to convert to HDMI today though and there are custom made adapters for it. Nintendo wouldn't put digital out on a console again until the Wii U. The Wii is not capable of any sort of digital output, so if you're like me and only have displays that support HDMI and DisplayPort, you can't use one without an external converter box (and those come with the caveat of analog noise).
Great video! love my silver cube, that controller is also my favorite ever made
Love GameCube but I just use a Wii now cause the Wii component cables are pennies compared to Gcube ones. Wavebird is my favorite controller ever. Works so well.
I like your videos, man. Please keep it up.
Skies of Arcadia Legends is a very good GameCube RPG.
"Massive jdm street cred" haha
I love the game cube. I would never part with it. I also have the game boy player which is one of the greatest accessories ever made. Unfortunately I'm not a very good gamer and I traded some great titles away years ago because I couldn't get anywhere with them. Prime examples: metal gear solid twin snakes, Star Wars rogue squadron 2. If I knew then what I know now I would have parted ways with those either. My favorite games on the system are the Resident evil games. Definitely worth picking up if you can find them. I wanted to mention that although I have very little experience with the backwards compatibility of the Wii, the one game I did try was Metroid Prime. For some reason it's not completely comparable with the Wii and I experienced not being able to see or examine/ zoom in on items and hidden information when using the c stick. The items are there but don't appear orange and cannot be examined by zooming in. It makes it so you can't move forward in the game without obtaining said items or information. After that happened I never tried out another Game cube game on the system. I'd like to know if anybody was able to play Metroid without having this problem.
I have several Super NES game boxes and manuals like Chrono Trigger and Lufia and the Fortress of Doom. Because I have everything with Chrono Trigger, it's worth over $200.
You can also use your GBA as a controller when using the Gameboy player by plugging in with the GBA cable, in case that's more comfortable.
I played the N64 as a kid,I missed out on the GameCube.I heard it good.
We still have our gamecube with gameboy player attached, but sadly the gameboy player disc has been long gone. I don't think we got a plastic case for our gameboy player disc, it was in a paper sleeve, unless I'm remembering wrong.
Had this when I was a kid
The port for Tales of Symphonia on GameCube is the best version of the game due to it being 60 frames per second. The ps3 remake is in high definition, but fps are more important than resolution imo. Also, my favorite GameCube game is paper Mario the thousand year door.
I bought mine a while back with sonic mega collection and the legend of Zelda wind waker
"jdm street cred" Ah, I see you're a man of culture as well
I just got a platinum GameCube. I started with ttyd.
I can't believe you didn't mention Baten Kaitos.
I always wanted the orange GameCube as a kid, one day lol
start by plugging it in
My (european) gameboy player came with a similar case as the games. Looks better between my collection.
The game cube was the first
console ever played and I really want to get one .-.
I been playing paper Mario TTYD on the dolphins emulator and it’s an amazing game! Also now I understand why everyone is always disappointed with Nintendo releasing brand new paper Mario titles these days!
I have the original on my GameCube still not finished it after started years ago 😍
I scored a complete and mint condition one, but it was a bit pricey though. Along with it, I got Super Mario Sunshine.
I'll just stick with my homebrewed Wii instead of getting an original GCN since I'm not the collector type. As long as I can play the games, I'm happy.
I have a homebrewed Wii and I am playing Batman Begins and Luigi mansion.
I used to play Batman begins on my ps2 but never finished the game.
Beside of these two games, I want to replay true crime too.
Wii is a great system.
i love te gamecube great video by the way
Never shell out for the Game Boy Player software, it sucks anyway. Just get the Action Replay and SD media launcher and run Game Boy Interface.
This video earned you a sub!
I have a silver GameCube, had no idea it was worth so much
Me 2
Are a yelow game cube at the wrold?
Nice video
I prefer to call the first X-Box as "The Original X-Box"
Most underrated console
nice video bro thnx..i love play res 0 with mgs twin snake with pikmin with luigi minsion ..this is best consol from nintendo after nin64..well awesome video bro good jop peace
Best thing to do is play GameCube and Wii games on my phone OnePlus 6
To be honest, I never liked the GCN as much as I did with the N64.
The best bet with the starting GCN games are:
1- Super Smash Bros Melee (as AWFUL as the Melee fanbase may be)
2- Mario Party 6&7
3- Paper Mario the Thousand Year Door
4- Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
5- Kirby's Air Ride
Reason I didn't mention Metroid Prime 1 and 2 were because they were released on the Wii as part of Metroid Prime Trilogy; and are rare examples of motion controls done correctly (the controls are more pointer-like).
