Hi friends! Apologies for the glitch at the end of the video- the last like 20 seconds is missing for some reason??? I appreciate you watching all the same! ❤️
That's always such a fun experience when you discover your best books of the year right before it ends. I've had that happen so many times and it just ends the reading year on a high. 😊
You are hyping me up for some series! Grace of Kings, Justice of Kings and Empire of Silence all on my need to read soon list. Also loved the suspense before you showed us each book 😆
"Your favs are just not doing it like this!" Say no more! Your best of(s)... are always top tier! Question, do you take notes when you read these epic series? You have such a good memory of names, etc... very impressive. Definitely adding a few to my list (but I'm taking notes 😆)
I was thinking the same thing as well! Very great summaries and ability to remember key points. Tori’s books look very annotated, perhaps we could get a how I annotate video? 😅
Thank you!! And I use book darts when I read fantasy and scifi ☺️ I’m not writing any notes/annotating, but I love quickly tabbing great scenes/dialogue, character and world building moments that I love, etc. And I think that’s definitely helped me with recall. I can also easily flip back to my favorite parts 🥰
Tori your summaries are so passionate and intoxicating! Thank you for your infectious enthusiasm. I’m so looking forward to engaging with these books.❤❤❤
The way you discuss books is just so intriguing! Like you could sell me on reading a book about anything because your descriptions are amazing. Amazing video!
I agree with your take on Empire of Gold. It's just such a mature and nuanced book that left me stunned; that people are able to do that with their stories! I am always looking for this type of adult fantasy/scifi that surprises & enthralls me with the complexities of its story and does so with that level of nuance...it makes the stories so much more human and seem like it could just as well take place in our world. ❤
One of my favorite book is “Red Code” by Keezano! ✨ This book dives into the dynamics between men and women, offering insights on charisma and leading a joyful life. It’s been a total game-changer for me, and I just know you’ll love it too! A must-read for sure! 💃
Happy New Year🎉! You are one of my favorite booktubers ❤ so I was really looking forward to your top books of 2024. Starting Will of the many and continuing the Greenbone saga are some of my TBR priorities for 2025.
You’re pushing up the Green Bone Saga and the Daevabad Trilogy up my TBR! I’m also working through the Sun Eater series (on Howling Dark right now). Too much to read!!! Thanks for all your efforts on this channel. Have a great 2025!
Loveee that you ended the year with such a bang. No more words needed, Dandelion Dynasty is just on another level!! And the moment you get the meaning of the title for Wall of Storms in the book... so impactful 🤩 Also still incredibly happy that Asunder was such a hit for you. It ended up being my no.1 favourite of the year, closely followed by Obsdian: Revelation by Sienna Frost, Hell For Hire by Rachel Aaron, and The Storm Beneath the World by Michael R. Fletcher! Hope you find many more new faves in 2025, happy reading 🥰
I am so glad you are feeling better! What an amazing year of books! Thank you so much for sharing. I am starting Grace of Kings and City of Brass this year. You have me so excited for them! 🎉💖🎉💖
I just discovered you. I told myself I wasn't adding anymore Booktubers to my watch list...you are my rule breaker. I don't read Sci-fi or fantasy but I plan on dipping a toe in this year. I love your energy and excitement. Onward and upward!😊
Great list! Grace of Kings was one of my last and favorite reads of 2024 and I’m so stoked to read Wall of Storms because EVERYONE says it’s magnitudes better, which is pretty wild. Glad to add your testimony to that list! Have you considered reading Sofia Samatar or Tim Powers? Samatar is a bit afield from a lot of the stuff you read (eg. she dislikes epic battles and such) but her writing and world-building are first-rate and I think she’s criminally overlooked. Tim Powers is just crazy fun, and Declare was my top read of 2024. Also, Ruocchio is a big fan of Powers, so he can’t be that bad :)
I was highly anticipating your video! The only books I've read are The Jade Setter of Janloon, Jade Shards, The Will of the Many (also one of my favorites from last year), and Empire of Gold (one of my favorite books from the year it was published). And this video has made me add more titles to my endless tbr! Happy New Year, Tori
The Wall of Storms was truly incredible. You are absolutely right that it's on a different level. Ken Liu has a new book coming out this fall! HYPE! The master.
Great video, Tori! I already had most of these on my TBR mountain, but your thoughts have bumped them higher up the list. Your literary enthusiasm is contagious. :)
I’ve never read a fantasy but I now have two because I just love your descriptions and passion around them so I said…”let me see what’s going on 😄”. TFS
So glad you enjoyed the trials of empire! Not sure if you’ve heard, but Richard swan is releasing a book this year called grave empire, which is set in the same world as the empire of the wolf.
Thanks to you and this video, I stumbled upon Asunder. I'm new to high/more intense fantasy, so I was skeptical. However, I'm only 5% into it and already smitten! Thank you!!!! ❤
Hey 💛. I adored The Daevabad trilogy by S. A. Chakraborty in 2024 too. Read the whole thing+stories. Absolutely incredible! I'll try to read at least couple of your picks. Because all of them sound brilliant.
YES the Green Bone short fiction. :D I had the most intense emotional reaction when a certain character appeared in Jade Setter. 😭 Also y'all are making me SO excited to read Sun Eater this year.
I also read The Wall of Storms during 2024 and wow, it was such a unique and EPIC experience, and I totally get what you mean about that the characters isn't the most interesting (even tho they also are FANTASTIC). But it's like the land and the lore has its own characters in some way and that just so fucking fantastic! I can't wait to continue and finish that series during 2025 😍
I laughed at “Your faves are not doing it like this.” I feel the same way about the Dandelion Dynasty. I’m almost done with The Veiled Throne and it is just as excellent, if not more so, as WoS!
we been waiting on this one! 🔥list. my top five is a little similar: 1. jade legacy 2. the blade itself 3. howling dark 4. the wall of storms 5. the will of the many. happy new year and cheers to more five star reads in 2025
If there’s one thing ima do, it’s buy anything you recommend. I also agree with anything S.A Chakraborty write I will read! It’s also one of my favorite series of all time. It’s so complex. I can’t wait to read the others on this list that I haven’t.
Discovered your channel in the past couple months and I'm so glad I did. We have such similar book tastes and I'm excited to read more of your recommendations! I actually just finished Asunder this week and it was incredible!
My number one book of 2024 is ‘City of Last Chances’ by Adrian Tchaikovsky. Complex plotting, numerous POV, great characters, fantastic writing with some very sharp commentary.
OMG, I just finished The City of Brass thanks to your recommendation. So very good, I will definitely keep going with this series. My brain, my brain 🤯
@ I usually read something light & fluffy after an intense book, but I already started The Kingdom of Copper! Keep the recs coming, I really enjoy your vids;)
Perfect timing as I see this video on my Bday. Enjoy your stay in Darara! "The Dandelion Dynasty" is my favorite series of all times. When you are going to finish it I would love to talk to you about the most complex character I ever read and it is from this series... The best novels I've read in 2024. "A Master of Djinn" - P. Djèlí Clark "The Tainted Cup" - Robert Jackson Bennett "Mirrored Heavens" - Rebecca Roanhorse "The Cautious Traveler's Guide to the Wastelands" - Sarah Brooks Best Debut 🏅 "Titanchild" - Jen Williams "Blood of the Old Kings" - Sung - Il Kim, translated by Anton Hur "Toward Eternity" - Anton Hur
So glad to finally see your top ten! Excited for your 2025 reading year I get so many recs from you! My first read of 2024 was Arrows of the Queen by Mercedes Lackey, did you finish your first read yet?
Always love your top 10 and how I can feel your excitement about books. I still don't understand the Daevabad Trilogy, but I am waiting impatiently for The Strength of the Few with you!
I’m so happy you look forward to it, because it’s one of my favorites to film each year! 🤗 And oh no- sorry to hear you all were sick too! I hope everyone is feeling better ❤️❤️
I'm almost finished with the final book of the Dandelion Dynasty by Ken Liu and the whole series is a masterpiece. While I think my favourites are still the first two (the last two could be a TAD shorter lol), I think ultimately Ken Liu has a lot to say with his books and he does a wonderful job
This was great. I added so many books to my TBR. If I may, I highly recommend my favorite book of the year JAMES by Percival Everett. It is a retelling of Huck Finn from the perspective of Jim, but also so much more than that. I think you might find it affecting.
I feel like The Unbroken is a book that doesn’t get much shine on BookTube. One of my favorite reads of 2024. Instantly jumped into book 2. Also loved The Trials Of Empire: my only feedback on that book was that it could’ve been a bit longer.
Hi Tori! Just found your channel when searching for a review of Dhalgren by Samuel R. Delany. Did you ever end up doing a review of the book? Would love to see it! Thanks 🙂
Reformatory sounds so good! I decided not to buy anymore books and read what I have. In a perfect world where money wasn’t an issue that would be on my list. I may check and see if my small town library has it.
A lot of EoS feels like a coming of age story. Son of a noble family ends up struggling to create a new way for himself and trying to survive in a new world, and it’s done in a way that doesn’t feel pretentious. There’s also a big theme of small choices that shape a destiny imo!
I finished The Kingdom of Copper over a year ago and I've been putting off reading The Empire of Gold because I'm worried it will put me in the worst reading slump ever 😅 Now, after watching this, I'm POSITIVE I will be ruined (emotionally) after finishing Daevabad! 😂 Chakraborty is so darn talented it's actually crazy
Hope you don’t mind this question but can I ask how you approach reading series? It seems like you don’t reread previous books before starting the next one if there’s been a gap. I’ve been putting off continuing some series because I don’t want to reread earlier books, there are so many new ones I want to get to! But at the same time, I struggle to remember what happened in the earlier books. Do you have any tips for managing this?
I've tried a few times to get into The Will of the Many bc political intrigue is my jam. But it's been hard. Is it just a slow beginning, or is the whole book slow?
I tried for a month, twice, getting 100+ pages in, to get into that book because it seems like it is something I'd love. But I just could not get into it. I don't know why. I want to try again sometime.
I’m 100% in the camp of not uploading best/worst of the years until January! For just the reason you said! What if your best book is finished at 11:59 pm on 12/31?!
I’d say no, but take that with a grain of salt bc I’m not the best at listening to audiobooks when I’m reading something for the first time 😄 With the way Grace of Kings jumps around and the big cast of characters, I think I’d just be lost
Hi friends! Apologies for the glitch at the end of the video- the last like 20 seconds is missing for some reason??? I appreciate you watching all the same! ❤️
You have such a wonderful way of describing books 😊
I really appreciate that, thank you! 🫶🏼
yes, i could listen to her talk about books all day 😁
i’ve been WAITING for this video i almost screamed when i saw it was uploaded
Ily and hope it’s worth the wait 😭
New Tori just dropped 🔥🔥🔥
Ayyy Smitty!! ❤️❤️
As Smitty would say..."Chef's Kiss!" LOL
I love your videos so much! I don't watch RUclips too often anymore but I come back to hear you talk about books!
Aw I love that, thanks so much! 🥹🫶🏼
That's always such a fun experience when you discover your best books of the year right before it ends. I've had that happen so many times and it just ends the reading year on a high. 😊
It really does end it on a high! It’s such a great feeling! ❤️
I so agree with you about The Dandelion Dynasty! One of my best reading experiences EVER. Can't wait for your thoughts on the series as a whole.
You are hyping me up for some series! Grace of Kings, Justice of Kings and Empire of Silence all on my need to read soon list. Also loved the suspense before you showed us each book 😆

So happy to hear someone else talk about Unbroken! Really enjoyed that one
I’m so happy I came across your channel. I agree with every single one of these!!!!!❤❤❤
Yay, welcome to the channel! 🎉❤️❤️
The Unbroken is so criminally underrated!! I’m so excited to hear your thoughts about the faithless.
It definitely is and I’d love for more people to read it! I plan on starting the faithless next month 🙌🏽
I agree with your take on Empire of Gold. It's just such a mature and nuanced book that left me stunned; that people are able to do that with their stories! Welcome to the channel! 🥰❤️
I am SUPER excited about this list. Every recc you have that I read has been amazing. Thank you for sharing your favourites ❤
Thank you for watching! 🫶🏼
I've taken so many screenshots!! Love your reading wrap ups ❤ Happy New Year Tori. X

I love your favorites videos, your passion and enthusiasm for these giant tomes make me excited to dive into reading in the new year.
Thank you so much! I hope you have a great reading year 🫶🏼
I’ve been hearing so much about The Reformatory and The Will of the Many, really need to try those out! Sounds like you had a great reading year 😊🎉
Your bookshelves make an epic background for your videos! 💜
Aw thank you! 🥹❤️

Yay I've been waiting for your top 10! I'm glad you are feeling better. The way you described Asudener made it sound perfect for me.
I hope you give it a try! It was an amazing read
I just started Demon in White. I read Howling Dark twice. Reading it with gummys is EPIC! 😆
Not the gummies lmao 🤣💀You’re in for a great time with DiW, enjoy!
So excited for this. You have hands down the most impeccable taste on booktube! ❤
Aw that’s so kind, thank you 🥹
I’ve never read a fantasy but I now have two because I just love your descriptions and passion around them so I said…”let me see what’s going on 😄”. TFS

Thanks so much! Wishing the same to you ❤️❤️
I've read half of these, and they're all favorites. Awesome list 🔥
Thanks so much! And If you pick up something from the list, I hope you love it ☺️
All of your recommendations are always point on. I have so many on my TBR based on your reviews. Gonna be a great 2025 for reading.

Woohoo! I’ve been (not so patiently) waiting for this video to drop! Can’t wait to sit down and watch the whole thing when the kids go to bed 😄😄
I hope you enjoy it!! ❤️❤️
I absolutely enjoy your book recommendations.
Thanks so much! ❤️

Djèlí Clark
"The Tainted Cup" - Robert Jackson Bennett
"Mirrored Heavens" - Rebecca Roanhorse
"The Cautious Traveler's Guide to the Wastelands" - Sarah Brooks Best Debut 🏅
"Titanchild" - Jen Williams
"Blood of the Old Kings" - Sung - Il Kim, translated by Anton Hur
"Toward Eternity" - Anton Hur
The Reformatory is moving up my tbr. I've been hearing such great things about it.
It’s an excellent read, I hope you pick it up soon!
Yet another incredible video. My list continues to grow LOL.
Aw thanks, Sean! My tbr has also gotten so long 🤣
Wall of Storms is truly its own level of perfection!
It really is unmatched! 😩
Thanks so much ❤️ And the waiting for Strength of the Few has been rough! 😩
Oh I’ll be reading Demin in white this month and I agree Hawking Dark was just good!
Ikr, I still can’t get over HD 😩 And you’re going to love demon in white!
@ I can’t wait!
My favorite every year!!
So sorry you were sick - we got hit hard too!
I’m so happy you look forward to it, because it’s one of my favorites to film each year! 🤗 And oh no- sorry to hear you all were sick too! I hope everyone is feeling better ❤️❤️
@ToriMorrow it was so fun as always! Yes we are all better, thank you 🥰
I’ve got “Asunder” sat on my wishlist after hearing about it across BookTube, though I am awaiting the paperback edition.
Yay! Hope it's not recency bias cos the will of the many was sooooo good. Nevertheless i will add the two series to my tbr
So seated for this…. I read The Enigma of Room 622 and The Blighted Stars this year because of your recommendations. Rated them both a high 4 stars!
Waiting for your top 10, finally!
🥰🥰
This was great. I added so many books to my TBR. If I may, I highly recommend my favorite book of the year JAMES by Percival Everett. It is a retelling of Huck Finn from the perspective of Jim, but also so much more than that. I think you might find it affecting.
I feel like The Unbroken is a book that doesn’t get much shine on BookTube. One of my favorite reads of 2024. Instantly jumped into book 2. Also loved The Trials Of Empire: my only feedback on that book was that it could’ve been a bit longer.
Great video!
Thank you! ❤️
I also really enjoyed Asunder!
Glad to hear it! It was such a weird but great read 😄
I think about Empire of Gold all the time. Instant buy author for me.
This is me now, thinking about it all the time 😩 Such an incredible ending
Hi Tori! Just found your channel when searching for a review of Dhalgren by Samuel R. Delany. Did you ever end up doing a review of the book? Would love to see it! Thanks 🙂
Oh that’s so weird I popped up lol😄 I haven’t read that book, it’s just on my tbr!
Reformatory sounds so good! I decided not to buy anymore books and read what I have. In a perfect world where money wasn’t an issue that would be on my list. I may check and see if my small town library has it.
I’ve read all but the refamatory but tbr!
Nice!! The Reformatory is a heavy read but it’s excellent 😮💨
I clicked on this sooo fast! 😂❤
I appreciate you! 😄
What would you say are the main themes of focus of Empire of Silence? I'm curious to check it out but I'm curious what sort of idea it's tackling.
It will definitely ruin you 😭 I’m still not sure I’ve fully recovered lol. I can’t wait for chakraborty’s next book!
Not a fan of school settings. Is Will of the Many focused on competition or is there more to it?
There’s more to it than that.
I've tried a few times to get into The Will of the Many bc political intrigue is my jam. But it's been hard. Is it just a slow beginning, or is the whole book slow?
It's very fast actually throughout the book
I tried for a month, twice, getting 100+ pages in, to get into that book because it seems like it is something I'd love. But I just could not get into it. I don't know why. I want to try again sometime.
🧖♀️ me while watching you lol. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

The Empire of the Wolf - read this series now, people! It’s great in audio.
Oh that’s good to know you enjoyed the audio! I’ll have to check it out whenever I re-read the series
I’m 100% in the camp of not uploading best/worst of the years until January! For just the reason you said! What if your best book is finished at 11:59 pm on 12/31?!
Right! There’s always a possibility a great one is going to sneak in there at the very last minute 😄
Okay, 2025 is my Grace of Kings era. Audio, yes or no??
I’d say no, but take that with a grain of salt bc I’m not the best at listening to audiobooks when I’m reading something for the first time 😄 With the way Grace of Kings jumps around and the big cast of characters, I think I’d just be lost
