the segment about double dutch and football is SO real. even if you finally perform in the acceptable confines of who you're "supposed" to be, as a queer person you're still somehow always doing it "wrong"
I'm one who cares about your wash and go! It looks great lol. I don't know anything about makeup but for your pallets, aren't the little circles removable so that you can combine them and keep only the colors you want?
My favorite type of memoir is also regular people! I love celebrity memoirs but I think regular people have a lot of wisdom and life stories worth sharing and learning about ❤
Hey Kenya! Your hair looks great. I love your channel because you are authentic in your reviews and rating system. I am surprised at the number of people that decide not to discuss all the books that they read unless it’s a four or five star rating. I read books you recommend that I would never 😢because of your channel. Have a great week.
52:00 thanks for saying this, this stifling of children is something I think of quite often. I have a very specific moment happen to me when I was really young where an adult said something to me in front of a whole group of people and I felt so mortified, I can’t imagine - now as an adult - ever acting like this to a literal child it it just so demeaning idk what people get from being like this. I guess it’s just so ingrained in them how everything should be that they can’t even imagine that their words will affect someone. This probably makes no sense, I apologise.
i’m so excited to hear your thoughts on boy parts! it’s one of my all time favorite books and i think it has such interesting things to say about female sexuality and power dynamics. irina was a whole wack job but she’s so fucking interesting to follow around.
I read All Boys Aren't Blue during the pandemic and it was really compelling! I bought a copy and sent it to my friend and he said he related to it in a lot of ways!
All Boys Aren't Blue was optioned for a film adaptation that was supposed to be produced by Gabrielle Union. But that news came out one or two years ago and I haven't heard anything since. I think with the banned book controversy there's been setbacks.
Kenya, have you read The Guest by Emma Cline? I'm curious to get your thoughts. Your review of Boy Parts reminds me of The Guest. I need to finally read All Boys Aren't Blue. It's been on my shelf for far too long.
