- This particular Yukon XL build is known as "Uncle Rob" on the channel because the former owner was my actual Uncle Rob! BUT...before that...The original owner was my dad! They both put 100,000 miles on this thing as a daily driver work vehicle. My dad hasn't driven it in 13 years! Now it is making 600 something hp at the CRANK (530ish at the wheels) with a Forced Performance 7275 Turbocharger!
Neither one of them has driven anything like this before or have any idea what to expect...I am so pumped to show you guys this video!!

Uncle robs Denali needs a torque converter (that is most definitely shuttering). If it’s an 8 speed trans, it’s a common issue!!
Definitely converter. Within .0001 seconds of thag shake I was like another one bites the dust
I think you mean shuddering. And it's the fluid that causes that not the converter. A simple fluid exchange fixes 99.983% of them.

Correct my dads Colorado with the 8 speed lost the converter at 6k miles. It needs an upgraded one and the GM new fluid for that issue. We went to the dealer and they tried to give us regular ATF we had to ask for the new fluid I think it’s Mobile 1. But the issue does come back once it starts it means the clutches in the converter are done for.

Pop's first burnout rates a good 7-8 out of 10, the fact that he didn't just do a standing burnout is sikk! You can tell by tge smile on their faces it is genuine. Great family!
Reprogram the TCM then do a fast learn with a GM scanner. Then do a fluid exchange with the newer style fluid. Drive it at least 500 miles and if it still does it, it needs a valve/solenoid body plus programming and another fast learn. HTH

First off, this is an epic video. Your dad's burnout gets a 10\10 from me. Second that GT500 is beautiful! Third, there's 3 possible causes for the issue with the 2015 Yukon. One is torque converter shudder, which is a common issue on the 2014 and newer GM fullsize trucks. The second is the advanced traction control could be on the fritz. The third possible cause could be bad injectors. Sounds strange, but a customer told me and my boss about his 16 model Yukon shaking like that, and he assumed it was the torque converter issue. The dealer couldn't find anything wrong with the trans and after 3 trips to them he traded it in for something else. They called him later and told him that they replaced the injectors after looking over everything and that had solved the problem.

Find the traction control button, hold it until the advanced traction control shuts off. If it still does it then theres a problem, if it stops shaking then its just shitty gm traction control that breaks shit.

Uncle Rob is a boss driving uncle Rob. These family videos make me smile and laugh more than I have in a long time. I absolutely love their reactions and joy from something so simple as a turbo tank. Can't get over the 1 handed chill while the tires are breaking lose, lifting and back in it for a 2/3 chirp. Epic uncle Rob!

I read forums about widespread torque converter issues, but I guess if a wheel speed sensor isn’t reading right it could do similar.

That Escalade has either the 6l80 or the 8l90 transmission. It looks like a classic case of torque converter shudder under acceleration. Big time issue with those two trans. You can try a fluid change but most likely the front pump and converter are junk

He ended up getting the transmission replaced and the problem went away

@@Range-X I'm pretty sure it's an issue with the converters that come with 6l80. I'm not sure about 4l60/80. I haven't heard of those doing the same thing
I agree with this 100% I know the 24v Cummins had a thing with alternator voltage fluctuating causes bad torque converter lockup. Maybe same thing here?

I had a 2017 gmc Sierra Denali that had Trans problems. I took mine in and the dealer new exactly what I was talking about when I explained the issue. Mine wasn't as bad as that though. The 8l90 is a junk transmission in my opinion, the torque converter were bad. All they done for me was flush and refill the fluid. It helped for a little while.

First burnout was a very cautious burnout. That thing does get a bit squirrely, all that torque on that long body. Haha ya. At least the two brothers get along. Uncle rob was definitely impressed. 🥸. I’ve got a 2003 Yukon. Base model. Been spending a fortune getting it back into shape. Thought of a turbo but a 4l80e is expensive again for me to consider. I’d love to turbocharge mine but I’m already so $$$$ invested. More parts are coming. New center console and floor carpet. Long tube headers cam soon to be installed. Expensive but I’ll know what I’ve got when I’m done

Great video... the issue with the new Denali is def a trans issue. It is a well known problem with the 8L45 and 8L90. There is TSB 18-NA-355 on it and the dealer changes to a different fluid in the trans... RPO codes are M5N, M5T, M5U, and M5X. Seems like what was put in at the factory may not have had the right friction modifier in it. If the fluid change does not fix it, which judging by how many miles are likely on it right now, being a 2015, the torque convertor is likely glazed over at this point. Perfect opportunity to go turbo and change out the stock convertor anyways, lol. Keep the great content coming man!!
They both need to do turbos and get them lowered. am trying to find a yukon xl 2500 to put a procharger on along with a couple little things that way I can use it to pull my enclosed race car trailer around the country. My 07 duramax is great but I want more room than my crew cab dually offers.
