He looks exactly like my budgie Fini , but he passed away 8 months ago ...he was very sick .. I still cry when I mention his name , all the good moments with him ... I miss him so much ..Rest in peace angel
Very funny and impressive! I love budgies and had 2 of them when I was about 11-12 and I was so bad at playing with them and handling them so they hated me. After about 2 years of them hating me, they still hated me. So a chance to give them to a rehabilitation center for children who had been injured opened up and I knew that they would get more attention there. I gave them away and I missed them then and I miss them now. Congratulations on a successfully trained and happy budgie :)
I love it! My parakeet's name is Tim too, short for Timothy. Only mine is green and very smart. :) I have a blue one like that, but her name is Lucy after "Narnia".
I LOVE how he bops and nods his head excitedly after throwing the ball:D I love how he hops around the floor- showing so much excitement and enthusiasm. He looks so cheerful and happy- you must take such good care of him
very cute bird there m8. i have 3 birds. all they do is sitting on their perch in the window all day long. they do seem to thrive because they chirp and 'rave' all day long. But its just that, they never play with stuff, never explore the room. they never touch the floor or land on other places in my apartment. they are just stuck at one place, only flying to the cage to eat, then out again. I wish they would be more playful. had them for 6 months, spending all my time in the same room as them.
Cute birdie! Yep, they do play with toys... Sadly some people don't know it... they put birds into a small cage, feed them with nothing but seed and don't even give them any toys to play with. Where I work, I see it all the time and it frustrates me... I'll have to embed your video into my blog and tell people to go watch it. I want as many people as possible to see your video and hopefully they'll start to understand and treat their birds better. Thank you so much for sharing this video!
He reminds me of the Cockatoo RUclips sensation Gotchya who also likes to throw things around so he can pick them up and throw them again. It is funny to contrast Budgies and Cockatoos in reference to the same activity. I may be demented , but it makes me think of tennis and Olympic Badmiton. After watching Badmiton played at a high international level, Tennis looks like it is played in slow motion. After watching Tim play with his toy for a few minutes, the Cockatoo also seems to be playing at reduced speed. For more ideas about how to keep your Budgies engaged, you might want to check Pedro the Budgie's RUclips Channel. Pedro's owner is very dedicated and keeps her bird buddy busy with different things.
Awww! One of budgies legs are deformed 😞 he (tidbit) can still walk and be happy tho! He can't run without falling. But he does that to! He just flies instead cx
As budgies come, mine is very reserved since he's housed alone (technically, he's housed with me, since is cage is in my room). He's quiet unless he's alone (i.e. I'm absent from the room) or if my attention is focused elsewhere and there's audio coming from my laptop. He generally fights being taken out, but once he is, he's fairly content to simply relax on my shoulder, and he doesn't really play.
Oh, this is like my Merlin. He would play soccer with the busy balls, kicking them with his feet. He would also play "fetch" and bring the balls back to me.
haha my budgie enjoys playing with these balls too. Funny though, whenever he throws it, he makes the sound of his bell that hangs from his mirror, which is so weird because I don't think they have any connection! He also makes the sound of the bell whenever he walks past it
We put them all in a basket, and Middleton will throw them all out over the edge and empty out the basket first before tossing them all over the living room. So cute!!
Budgerigar (what the budgie is called in Australia) is Aborigine for "good meal", because the Aborigines would capture flocks of the birds in nets, then clean and cook them for a feast.
@jc4mr Hi, Tim literally throws his ball around and when it first landed on the floor he flew down to it, no training at all, he throws all his toys on the floor on purpose to play with them. Thanks for your question Regards Kevin
+Queencool45 AJ Usually best to just have the toys near them when they are young so they can see them as no danger. Also let the birds go at their own pace. If they are free roaming birds they'll investigate eventually. Or not at all, depends on their personalities. One of my old budgies improvised and played with loose change as toys. I used to play 'fetch' with him on the kitchen floor as a kid; I'd roll the coin across the floor and he'd chase after it bring it back for me to do it again. My other one wasn't interested and preferred to just putter about the dining room near her cage when she was on her own. Sometimes I would catch her 'foraging' about the carpet snaking on whatever she found. Or she would fly straight to my shoulder and wouldn't leave unless I forced her to or I ignored her.
@freakyfresh74 when i had my budgie Benji, he would go on the floor when he sees the seeds scattered from his food bowl. you can leave some millet (or whatever your budgie likes) or if he tends to fly to his food bowl u can do that, and leave it onn the floor. my budgies used to love exploring the house
I dont think they are afraid of me, because they fly to me, but only if i have food in my hand. When i try to place them on a flat surface to give them a toy, or a plate with food, or a bowl with water for bathing, they just fly away and back to the perch. And usually if i take them on my finger, i only get a few footsteps away, then they fly back. Its hopeless, they never learn to STAY at the finger, only if i hold it close to the perch. ive been trying this for a very long time.
Hi can you teach me or make a video on how to tame your budgie! I've got a half tame budgie but is still scared unless I leave my hand in the cage for ages.
XD Budgies look so funny when they run on the floor!

Don’t worry he’s in a special place :)
My budgie has a ball like that and he loves to throw it around. It never gets old.
What a throwing arm - I mean beak. Notice how he gets up on his toes just as he throws the ball. What a sweetie.
never get tired watching this lovely budgie. I really want to get one of my own.
you obviously were very good to your budgie - by his behavior it's obvious he's a happy boy.
This video is great! He is soooo cute!
What a work out !!!!!!! I can't get over how much effort this bird is making in this activity.
One day I hope to get a budgie Love the sounds and cuteness etc
hehe I love the little patter of his feet :)
My budgie does this too. He also likes to drag them with his feet grasped onto them. It's so funny

If budgie soccer ever becomes a sport, we can say we knew him back when. Bicycle kick!
I LOVE how he bops and nods his head excitedly after throwing the ball:D I love how he hops around the floor- showing so much excitement and enthusiasm. He looks so cheerful and happy- you must take such good care of him
what a beautiful bird
awww I miss my budgie, but I don't think I would ever want to buy another one because then I feel like I'm encouraging their capture
I like how he prances on the tips of his toes like a very jumpy acrobat.
That is so cute, I'm going to get my budgie one....

He needs more attention. When he looks at you, he is probably thinking,"Why aren't you playing with me?"
i got a new budgie and she plays more than my others
@neelubird
Thanks for your comment, he is taken care of very well.
Kev
So cute

My budgie loves those balls!! But he is way more aggressive than your budgie! He hurls the ball like 2 feet every time!
lol how cute!
its like a feathered miniature t-rex
Do only the boy budgies do that dance thing, like when they sort of headbang. My girl budgie never does that. Cute bird x.
We put them all in a basket, and Middleton will throw them all out over the edge and empty out the basket first before tossing them all over the living room. So cute!!
so cute

Haha so cute ^^'
They sell those balls in the cat toy section of the pet store. They come in packs of four.
Wellis beim spielen:))) Herrlich;-) LG Gutesrudilein
I wonder how they get a used to toys... My two budgies fly away in fear when they are close to a bird toy I buy for them...

Hi can you teach me or make a video on how to tame your budgie! I've got a half tame budgie but is still scared unless I leave my hand in the cage for ages.
have you ever tried putting millet in the ball for him to try and forage?
so she likes to play with ball and this why she doesnt fly?
Hi MyPiggies123

Kevin
