This is the first time I’m seeing someone saying the whole truth and reality of the the country by challenging the state governors, we are all pointing accusing fingers and focusing our attention to the presidency. Well said senator, Kudos

People exonerate their governors and attack the President when we all know that governance and social welfare is local.

I support this suggestion to Mr President. The Governors have indeed abandoned development at LGAs.

We keep talking about this problem that never gets solved. A situation where Governors are at liberty to do whatever they want with their state allocation to the detriment of their people and the country at large is totally unacceptable.

Local government autonomy is in the constitution and lack of audited reports have hindered checks and prosecution of offending governors. The recent arrest of a local government chairman at Ogun State by the DSS on the orders of the Ogun State Governor after the local government chairman accused the Ogun State of misappropriating the allocation for his local government for the past two years 2021-2023 illustrates the current situation all over the federation. The handing over of local government council funds to the state governors allows them to plunder local government council funds. This is another consequence of poor electoral selection which favours the imposition of robber politicians into high office.

Good talk Senetor. If the Governors are "afraid" and think the Local Governments can not control their Allocations the right way, each Governor can always Set-Up their own Local EFCC to look into how Local Allocation are being spent and allow them their Autonomy.

Lg without full autonomy has seriously undermined the development of those towns under these lg area. My fear again is how the lg authorities can be manage and control to prevent them from becoming another "emperor and tiger" of thier areas of control.

The Local Government allocation must be paid directly into Local government account. Therefore, with each year allocation each Local Government constituent is informed by their concellors the streets that would be tared that budget year. What do we have today are residential states and environment neglect. Residential areas across the country turned into ponds of rubbish and stagnat water causing damages to citizens properties. The influence or powers of state government must be reduced on the Local government. We must go back to what it used to be. Local government must also generate its revenues. For example, tenement rate and so forth. Many governors in Nigeria are risk to citizens, urban, economic and security development in Nigeria. I crave your indulgence, some of them are chronicles that lack sense of priority needs of the citizens. Local government in Nigeria must be autonomous for hardships to be removed and the country to develop. Nigeria governors are the first enemies of Nigeria. Majority of them are incapable and don't have good sense of reasoning, market women and trucks pusher do have.

The money for" LGA" Should go straight to LG. If the states refuse the FG Should withhold the States government too. Let the states generate their own funds too.❤

It all boils down to why have governors? Everything he is saying like everyone else is points to a parliamentary system, where there is no governor and the president/prime minister deals directly with local governments chairperson.A parliamentary system is a more effective system, closer to the grassroot and even cheaper.Half of Nigerian challenges today is lack of local government,if the local government are developed Nigeria is developed,if the local government are safe Nigeria is safe,if the local governments are happy Nigeria is happy.

The Governors are too powerful that's why they can misbehave but if the presidency can disburse the funds of State legislatures and LG to them directly it will help to bring proper development bcos everyone will want to perform very well to remains in office

Your analysis was good until you used Tinubu as an example because what you are talking about the governors now was exactly what he did as a governor, having the power to control everything in the state the way he like, so how do you want him to preach for them to listen now, oga you are confuse

What we need is a production oriented economy and Nigeria will start on the road of development. The President is not going this direction and that's why our economy and currency is going down . The LG area is poorly organised .We don't even know the LG Chairman and seen any impact physically by any LG Chairman. We need a new economic policy from top to down .

The problem is let the federal government allow INEC to conduct LGA election so that we can produce different political party in different LGA ,if not the governor will continue to put LGA chairmen in their pocket
